Good food, fairly authentic although a bit bland. Restaurant was dirty, bathrooms were dirty. Makes you wonder how clean the kitchen area is. fortune express is just down the road and food is as good or better and the place is clean

Meh is right. We ate here once and we’re unimpressed with the food. A bit on the bland side. It’s your general neighbourhood Chinese restaurant.

One of the better Chinese restaurants in Kanata. Recommend staying away from the fried balls of any kind and take a risk and order from the specials board written in(mandarin… I would assume), that is how I have discovered the salt and pepper tofu and shrimp, which was delicious by the way. Service attitude varies from waitress to waitress but the food is good enough for recurrent visits.

So over the past two weeks I’ve had the real pleasure of enjoying take-out from this little restaurant in a small Kanata strip mall on Eagleson. The food has been outstanding. I’ve had some pretty awful Chinese food in Kanata but never again. Favorites included the Mo She Pork(although I always need more pancakes to finish the portion size) the lemon chicken and the Singapore vermicelli-were big hits in our group. Portions were huge and the value for money was bang on. I look forward to more in the coming year.

I’m surprised nobody has reviewed this place yet. It’s been around for awhile and it’s very popular. Anyways, suburban Chinese takeout places are always a crapshoot. Okay, that’s putting it nicely. You can win crapshoots. Suburban Chinese takeout places almost always suck. Westernized dishes with no flavour, slimy sauces, and mediocre portions at inflated prices. Obviously I’m not expecting to find Chinatown quality out in Kanata, but I don’t think every place needs to be total crap. So with that lead-up, I can safely say that this place is the best Chinese place in Kanata/Stittsville. And it’s not really close. I’ve been here many times. The service is always friendly, attentive, and very fast. If you go during slow hours, like 11:30 a.m. or so, your food will arrive as soon as 5 minutes after you order it. The atmosphere is pleasant. It’s not too cramped. It’s clean and bright. No complaints about any of that stuff at all. The food is still a lot of Westernized dishes. That’s how they make their money, so what do you expect? But the menu is gigantic and features more than just chicken balls and fried rice. So there is something for everyone. The quality is excellent. Nice flavour, fresh ingredients, not too much slime. I really like their crispy beef. Yeah, most places serve that dish, but their actually do it right here. The portions are pretty generous. The four of us ordered four dishes plus rice, and ate until we were full, with enough leftovers to feed a fifth person. And the bill came to under $ 50. Pretty good value, considering most Chinese places tend to rip you off. I don’t have a whole lot to say about this place. It feels weird to give 5 stars to a take-out place, but considering how low my expectations usually are for places like this in the burbs, I can’t really come up with enough negatives to deduct a star.

I love this place so why did I give it only 3 stars? The reason is that the presentation with regards to restaurant itself could be nicer. Although the food is good I find the inside could be cleaner and brought up to date. In fact, you’ll find the interior very bland with little to no colour or «atmosphere». The food tastes as good as it looks in my photos. I’ve gone here a many times when I decide not to take the trek downtown Chinatown. If you just want a good place to eat Chinese food, here’s one good choice. If you’re entertaining people, just keep in mind what I’ve mentioned regarding the interior. They also have lunch specials which consist of rice and a side dish. I’ve ordered on occasion their lunch specials and was not disappointed. I do not think they serve dim sum for brunch however I have never considered coming here for dim sum. Prices are reasonable and comparable to others. Staff here are friendly and prompt with requests. I’ve never waited an unreasonable amount of time for my food.

Dropped by Rideau today for my friends birthday. Ottawa doesn’t have the greatest selection of Chinese food so options are really limited especially in Kanata. We ordered a fried rice, fried noodles, some shrimp and fried tofu. The fried tofu was probably the best dish but it was slightly salty. Thankfully they had chilli peppers in them or it would have been a pretty boring dish. The fried rice was ok and the noodles were ok as well. The shrimp wasn’t great though. If I came back I’d get the tofu again and ask for more chilli peppers as that was the best part of the meal. The service is alright. This might be the best Chinese restaurant I’ve tried in Kanata. The other ones being Hong Chow(buffet) and Fortune Express.
