When we were kids, driving through Kamloops to go to Calgary we would always, always, always stop at Kentucky Fried Chicken. Things certainly have changed since then. Back then there was no Coquihala Highway, The Hope Slide was still fresh in everyones memory, I Deam of Jeannie was my favourite TV show next to Gilligan’s Island. It was a time when you could go to a drive in Theatre and also dine at an A&W and eat your food in your car and be served by Car Hops. So, KFC was a routine we had. It became a family custom that we had to do. And so on this trip. I sttressed how important it was to do this. This time around the KFC was paired up with Taco Time. Just like the one in Chilliwack. A sign of times changing. Yes. The 3 piece combo with no fries and two coleslaws seemed smaller than I remember. The chicken was smaller, the sides of slaw were smaller containers, the drink, this time was Diet. But still, here we were at a KFC. or properly named Kentucky Fried Chicken. It’s not the same location, not the same food and it seems to be politically correct and in with the 90’s and 2000’s it has to be shortened to KFC. To me it’s still the Colonel Sanders. And the same Colonel Sanders who gave Dave his start before Wendy’s Hamburgers was started. Now that’s another story!
