Who makes the best Portuguese tarts in Hamilton? These guys. Who makes the strangest croissants in Hamilton? These guys.
The tarts are superb. The filling is smooth and sweet, and the shell is made of a bu-​jillion tiny flakes. If you are taking them to go, eat one in the store for full effect, as they aren’t nearly as good after 30 minutes in the car.
The croissants are different, but I don’t hate them. They aren’t flakey or puffy like you’d expect. Rather, they are dense and bready and weigh a ton. I’m sure they are carbohydrate death traps, but I enjoy them from time to time.
I think my favorite place about Ola bakery is the atmosphere. There’s always a couple of friendly Portuguese guys out front in muscle shirts, smoking cigarettes and talking about Cristiano Ronaldo (or something like that). It feels so authentic. Just love it.

Best natas (Portuguese custard tarts) I have ever had. Rice pudding is not bad too. The rest of the pastries are generally below average (I had to throw out some because it just tasted so bad). I won’t drop any stars for those pastries since the natas are so amazing and the owners are wonderful. I once asked what one baked item is and the owner gave it to me for free! It tasted pretty bad but that was really nice of him. Maybe it’s an acquired taste, so it’s not fair for me to judge them so harshly since I am not Portuguese :)
Those natas have me coming back on a weekly basis. Wonderful comfort food, mmmm. And the prices are very reasonable.

Used to come here every month for the Hamilton Art Crawl to watch Turbo Street Funk. Great venue with awesome food, fantastic service, and live music that will absolutely blow your mind.
