Barangas on the Beach

Here is a spot tucked away near the waterfront you didn’t know existed.
Pretty uninventive, but pretty on the right evening.
Go for the atmosphere on a warm evening, and take a walk along the waterfront path after. don’t expect a culinary masterpiece, but drinks and a nice view.

TL;DR come for the view and service, not the food.
I stopped by to ask for direction but the view was so amazing that I ended up staying. The kitschy tropical themed menu was a bit sketchy so I played it safe and ordered the burger with sweet potato fries.
The fries were of the thin and long variety. Very crispy, but overly sweet and fairly generic. As for the burger, the bun was under toasted and a bit chewy. The patty itself was over-​seasoned. The garlic and whatever else they put in there completely inundated the beef flavour. Blerg.
On the bright side, portions were very sizeable.
But to be honest, you don’t really come here for the food. The view is the star. The patio is a lovely beachside affair with strings of dainty little light bulbs. As the evening dragged on, we even caught the bright red setting sun.
Oh and the staff was also genuinely helpful. My phone was out of battery so one of the servers offered her charger.

Barangas on the Beach never fails to disappoint. As me and my boyfriend share the common interest of cuisine, Barangas is always such a treat. Last night after a game of mini putt at adventure village and a walk along the beach before sunset, it just made Barangas so much more to look forward to! The staff is so attentive, they give out blankets when it gets cold and to avoid pesky Mosquitos, ask for bug spray! The food is delicious I highly recommend the Grecian shrimp, Greek style fries, lamb burger and the Mac and cheese bake! Such a delicious meal last night with a breath taking view of the lake, the ambiance really sets the mood for a romantic dinner, girls night out or even a family event. Barangas never fails to put me and my boyfriend in a great mood, it’s such a beautiful restaurant with a very nice patio. Due to my food allergies my Mexicano coffee was made to perfection due to my inability to have any generic desserts. Great staff, better food with an even nice view. Any Hamiltonian should visit at least once in their life here in Hamilton… hell anyone should visit even if it’s just for a frozen beverage and the pita platter with tzatiki.

Terrible slow service. Overpriced. Stuck up people. Never again!
Came there only to be told they don’t have any seats even tough half of the place was empty.
All of a sudden they found a table.
Then we wait and wait and wait for the server to come and they never did…
So i asked for my parking deposit and they were glad to give it to me and get rid of me…
Stuck up asshole… never going there again

Lets be honest. Everyone knows the service is horrible but relax look at the view enjoy a cocktail and it is all good. I love sharing some apps and drinks and enjoying a beautiful warm day and Barangas is perfect for that. One thing I do love about Barangas is watching the owner help out. There is nothing better than an owner that cares and is not above getting their hands dirty and she really does care… I like to see that. That and the sangria help me relax and be just a little more patient.

The location is great, especially the patio on a summers eve. Other nice touches are the fire pits and blankets.
The food however is mediocre to average.

The atmosphere here is super chill and sweet. You’re right on the water and have a great view of the beach.
I also love how they light fire heaters at night and offer guests blankets if they are cold. It’s a great idea!
The food here is good. Not bad. Not amazing, but good. I ordered the fish and chips, and it was solid. All the app were ok (calamari and the Mediterranean dip, although I wouldn’t get the dip again).
Service is good, and the staff are generally friendly.
To break it down, food and everything else was a 3, but because of the great location, atmosphere and attention to cold guests, it’s. 3.5 for me!
I’d come here again though for the view and experience :)

I give it 3 stars just cuz of location. Foods not the best but a good place to grab a drink on a first date. Ate a steak there it was tuffer then a boot. Also a good place i have a drink then take a stroll on the bored walk. Recommend the apps.
They are decent

the location here is really amazing. my friends and I have been coming to this place for years for drinks, dinner and their nightlife, but this summer will be the last.
the food is never spectacular and struggles to even be mediocre. everything is overpriced for what seems to be frozen food from a box. its unfortunate because the location is so amazing I wish the food, service and drinks here lived up to it.
for the past few years we’ve only returned for drinks on the patio but recently they’ve gotten more watered down and the service has gotten less and less attentive. we once sat on the patio, menus in hand and waited well over 15 minutes for drink orders. we couldn’t even get a round of water for the table.
we vowed to never go back. after a bike ride along the beach this use to be a great place to stop in for apps and a pitcher of sangria but we’ll take our business else were next summer.

We stopped in Hamilton on the way back to the States from Michigan. It was already late and we took the suggestion of hotel staff to go to Barangas. Seating was good, lots of tables outside by the beach. Food, not great. I had a bowl of red pepper feta soup, which was very tasty, could have been hotter. Caesar salad was passable. My partner had some sort of gyro nachos which I didn’t like. Cold cheese, barely any meat. I was just passing through so I’ll never be there again, but we should have done our Hamilton research before we came. View was great though. Restaurant looked kind of sad and old, actually.

I live very close to Barangas and their location overlooking the lake is great, but I find that I don’t go very often. It is a beautiful spot on a sunny summer evening, but the food is mediocre, the service is spotty and you end up paying for the location.
With an improvement in the menu and better service, this place would be perfect, but I can’t recommend it. If you want waterfront, go to Pepperwoods, Ema’s or the Waterstreet Cooker in Burlington.

I’ve been here for a couple of work functions, once during lunch, and once immediately after work. They have a decent volleyball setup here.
The best thing about this place is the view, because its right by the beach. So on a nice sunny day you can sit out on the patio with beers and its great. Some nights they have music and a club atmosphere. The service isn’t great, but it could be a one off. I think this place really differs depending on the time of day you go.
