I must say I feel a bit sorry for The Source. Had it’s name changed, fierce competition from big box stores and especially online retailers… and yet on it survives like the little engine that could. I do like going to the Source because they pack so many things into such a small space and always have unique little gadgets that a nerd like me loves to gawk at and then spend money I don’t have on. The one little thing that bothers me about shopping at the store is the fact that every time I’ve gone there, I’ve been the only person present aside from the eager sales associates. The store is always spotlessly clean and well organized, but it can feel a little overwhelming to browse a small space alone while 3 bored associates are just waiting for me to show the slightest sign of interest in something. I definitely can’t blame the store for my discomfort however, since I’m well aware that some shoppers like to be catered to from head to toe by attentive associates. I’m just more the kind of shopper who likes to be left alone until I realllly need to ask a question. So it’s more of a preference thing. Other than that, I like their sales that they have periodically. The Source is not the cheapest tech place out there, but during some sales I have walked out with some amazing bargains. I especially recommend checking out their«generic» products(no-name brand by the Source), because they are often the exact same as much more expensive brand name products, just a lot cheaper.

I like The Source. I miss Radio Shack(although really there’s no big difference other than new logo), and I kinda miss the smaller electronics stores overall. It’s nice to walk into a smaller store, find the display of alien-looking cables and cords, and actually locate the one you’re looking for all on your own. When it comes to things like phones, cameras, etc, I kind of forget this place exists and automatically head to the big-box stores. Want the new iPhone 85.4 but don’t want to stand outside at midnight in a lineup? Just go to The Source, because apparently everyone else forgets they stock this stuff too. Helpful staff, customer-friendly layout, prices are reasonable, pretty good selection, and they don’t mind if you open all the headphone boxes and try them on, so long as you put them back. :-D

I enjoy visiting The Source by Circut City when I‘m looking for that particular cable or a jack extender. They have those gadgets that are usually hard to find at the average hardware or department store. I find the staff very helpful. They usually know their ‘stuff‘and can suggest which product is best for what you‘re looking for. I recently went in there looking for an adapter for my house phone that would allow me to plug in a headset. The outlet on my phone was a completely different size than the one on my headset. I really didn‘t have a clue what I was looking for, but the associates at the Source did. They knew exactly which product would fit. They also told me that if I wasn‘t satisfied with it, I could return it, even it was opened! The service was great and the store was nicely laid out and very clean. I will continue to shop at the Source for my unique electronic purchases.

Circuit City is great for those little gadgets you need. I go here when I need a new cable or outlet, or that strange S-Video Cable. Yes that cable that allows you to connect your laptop to your TV. Well only if your tv has that outlet. This cable does not come with your computer, it comes with every other cable, but not that. I guess the reason is, it is sort of a luxury item, not a necessity item. The staff here are pretty knowledgeable.
