McDonnell’s Tom Service Center

Definitely the best auto mechanic I have been to. I’ve brought my car in here about a dozen times, the shop is both efficient and honest. I once had a problem with my steering rack and they checked to see if there was a recall on it in case I didn’t actually have to buy the part. I also bought in my car in once because the check engine light was on. They got it in for me that day and later called me and told me that it turned on because of something incredibly minor (lose connector that had to be secured) and apart from that my car was fine and there was no charge on the vehicle. I’ve never had a single complaint about any of the work done on my car here. Really reliable decent service centre, highly recommend.

Tom is polite, but brusk and all business. That’s fine. Time is money. I get that. However, don’t question him, cause his personality will turn on a dime. I wish I had questioned him sooner bc I learned they make little effort to source lower cost parts. Case in point — they wanted to buy a part from a dealership for over $ 800, when it could be had locally at several parts shops for $ 150! When I asked why he didn’t contact them, dismissively, he said «I’m not gonna get into the cost of parts with you. If you had a problem with the price you shd have said something or bought the parts yourself!». Really? That’s your explanation? When there is such a big discrepancy in price, I don’t think it’s asking too much to be able to rely on the shop to get reasonably priced parts. Same with another part that could be had, locally, I found out, for $ 100 cheaper… and I still don’t know what they did with my old part (if they used it for the trade-​in core charge that allows the part to be bought cheaper). The final straw was taking the car in 3 times for the same thing that they were supposed to have fixed the first time. Lesson learned.
