Who Gives A Schnitz

I so wanted to like it… pros: very friendly, helpful staff, cute interior and great location. The most important thing, the quality of the food, just isn’t there. Sandwich is hands down gross-​bad pork schnitzel, big white bun, sloppy cheese… sandwich gets soggy quite quickly and the staff just puts on whatever toppings they want/​they don’t seem to listen to what you asked for. Would never return.

After 5 perfect reviews… Gotta say this was pretty poor/​mediocre schnitzel. Very thin, too much breading. Staff was great. One time visit.

Service was top notch, as was the food! Definitely a must-​try if you’re from the area (might become a favorite!), and a unique, yummy place to check out if you’re just passing through.
It was long enough ago that I can’t remember what I ordered, but it made enough of an impression on me that I came back searching for it 8 months later when a friend mentioned he was heading to Guelph.

I saw a few positive reviews, and with the string of chain restaurants on the main strip, I of course had to try a local independent spot.
They specialize in schnitzel. You can get it as is, or stuffed with cheese, or coated in sauce; on a fresh roll, with a list of toppings. Avocado, sautéed mushrooms or onions, hot peppers, and they have their own house sauce, that goes great with any topping combination. My sandwich was soon good, I went back 4 – 5 hours later and got another. Next time I’ll eagerly try their Reuben, which is a personal favourite of mine.
And possibly the best part is that my food wasn’t made by a self-​loathing teen who hates their life, it was made by the owner of the shop. Now if that’s not good service, I don’t know what is. I’ll definitely go back.

Quality and service is Bang On at this downtown fast food sandwich shop. My wife ordered the Schnitz with lettuce, tomato and pickle sauced up with one of their special sandwich sauces. The entire time he was making the sandwich I regretted eating at home before hitting the downtown core for a stroll. The mammoth sized fresh and juicy pickles were sliced up nice and thick before our eyes. He must have sensed us salivating as he offered us a slice to sample and it was a very tasty treat. Other than a few stools there wasn’t any nice seating area to sit down and enjoy the sandwich so we waited to get home and that is where I managed to tackle half of her sandwich. Let me tell ya, my breaded veal is is good but this breaded Schnitz rocks! I’ll be back to pick up an order for the gang at work. So should you ! Amazing food! The smoked meat sandwich and Reuben were fantastic, and we saw the schnitzel being made for someone else and can’t wait to try it — it looked amazing. Also, the deep fried oreos are a must (duh). Can’t wait to go back and try some more stuff! Good food, and very nice people working there. Will be back!
