Société de transport de l’Outaouais / STO

I just took an STO bus today, for the first time in a long time. It’s been at least six years since I’ve been on one of these buses, and though not much has changed, I had a much more pleasant experience than I remember having the last time.
My brother and I were headed to the Casino du Lac-​Leamy. We took a bus to the Rideau terminal downtown, and waited for the #21 in front of Chapters. There was a sign that said «Casino», so we knew we were at the right stop. We waited about 20 minutes, as I believe the bus only runs every hour or so. We were happy to find out that we could use our OC Transpo bus transfers to get onto an STO, so we didn’t have to pay an extra fare. Otherwise, it would be $ 3.40, which is 15 cents more than OC Transpo cash fare. The ride wasn’t too long — only about 15 – 20 minutes max. They didn’t announce the stops like they do on OC Transpo buses, but we knew where to get off.
The bus itself was old, but not dirty. The seats are like little leather benches, rather than the individual seats on OC Transpo. We also noticed that before getting off the bus at the back, there are little plastic swivel barriers. It’s hard to explain, but I guess it’s just to warn people that after those barriers are steps down.
