I really enjoy this location. It doesn’t have the quaintness of Whyte Ave or the clean lines of downtown. It has a great small town feel. I have been coming to the Eastwood location since the mid-90’s when my brothers lived nearby. I would stop in to buy a Star Trek novel to read while visiting. 20 years later and I still stop in to pick up a book or two. Recently I traded in some books for the first time. They didn’t take everything I brought in but I was able to get 2:1 for what they took. I walked out a happy man.

We went there today to sell a couple books. With popular titled books, I walked in with the impression of getting maybe two bucks for 9 books and was ok with it because they are small and local. However, walked in and told the lady that I would just like to get rid of them and I am willing to just leave them because I don’t want to come back home. I got the RUDEST toned remark saying we don’t accept donations. my feelings were absolutely hurt because I had no idea that helping or offering to donate was such a horrible thing to do. Needless to say it definitely turns my opinion about wanting to support local bookstores especially when people can just buy ebooks or brand new. Needless to say the lady just looked at them and with a look like I brought in forbidden books said nope and snubbed us away. Well I will tell you that I will never be coming back. Horrible first and final impression.

I just love this place. I’ve built nearly complete Calvin & Hobbes and Garfield collections thanks to this particular location, and there seems to be rapid turnover of hardcover stock. Great service and, of course, there is a cat on duty. I am told that the Himalayan usually associated with W.B.I. has retired to his owner’s home, and the new cat is black and fluffy and awesome. In short, this place rocks. I always feel like I’m at a treasure hunt.

This is absolutely my favourite Wee Book Inn location! What truly sets it apart from the other locations? the wonderful and attentive staff, as well as their amazing recommendationgs! I’ve been a fan of the entire chain since I moved to the city in 2002 and I find the staff to be the friendliest in the entire city. During a 9 month stay in Stadium area, it was a quick 15 minute walk North and just West of the Coliseum LRT/Transit Centre. Open till 12am, it is replete in not only books as the title implies, but many rare comics, trade paperbacks, DVDs, blu-ray, VHS. They have a wonderful collection of classic/vintage sci-fi and fantasy novels as well as current sets, all at least 50% off the cover price. Not to mention their wonderful tradein of 2 to 1 for existing or selling novels in for an increased percentage(details for current policies — call in) if you take it in gift cards(which NEVER expire!!!). They have a wonderful request list that they ACTUALLYCONTACTYOUWHENTHEYRECEIVETHETITLE! Sick of paying overdue library fines? Want a unique first date/nerdilicious occasion? Head in store!

I love the smell of old books! I have been to many used book stores all over the country, because I am an addict! I love books! This review is not about books thou it is about their great DVD collection and awesome staff. This is my favorite place to go after a late shift at work. I love looking at all the different DVDs they get on a regular basis and the staff are always so great at helping me pick out which new ones I should buy. 3 for $ 12 is an awesome deal for movies I only watch once or twice… A little birdy told me that they replenish their dvds on tuesdays. The staff are also very helpful in finding books for me and usually know without checking the system if its in or not. I limit my book buying here as it seems a bit pricey for used books and I am one cheeeep mofo. The only thing I don’t like about this location is the location. It creeps me out at night. that does not stop me from popping in to see what is new at 11pm because once again I am cheap but like watching movies late at night . Is it weird that the staff always know when I haven’t been to the store in a while? Also their older cat retired to a more peaceful home life outside of the store, does anyone know of they got a younger one yet to take over his shift? :)

I’m giving this specific location a five star, but I should mention two disclaimers: I’ve never sold books there, and I’ve only been there late at night. I mention that because the same dark haired woman is always working there when I go in, and she’s a big reason I’m giving five stars. The store is clean, neat, and I personally find it very well organized. The shelves aren’t over stuffed and it’s easy to see what they have. Yes, the cat is extremely cute and friendly and also well maintained — I forget how old she said he was but he’s definitely spry for his age! I take that as a sign of a well run business too. We’re always treated to a friendly reception and offers of assistance, and I’ve also seen this same staffer work extremely hard trying to track down rare volumes for customers with specific requests. One of my favorite places in the neighborhood to pop by.

This is my go to place when clearing out my shelves. Lately, it seems I am selling fewer and fewer, perhaps the their buying criterion has been tweaked. I usually find something to bring home with me, and often it is not something I knew I was looking for which I think is the whole point of a second hand book store.

I’ve been here a few times now, and have come to the solid conclusion that I don’t really like it. They have a decent amount of floor space, but the things that fill it aren’t that great. I haven’t seen many interesting or new books here. It’s like this is the place where crappy, bizarre, weird and/or old books that nobody else wants are. They also have a small selection of random CDs at the front, and actually some decent DVDs for $ 5 each or, I believe 3 for $ 12. The minimal encounters I’ve had with staff have been hit and miss, from your indifferent retail employee to a generally nice lady. The real low point about Wee Book Inn — this one and all of them — is the ridiculously low amount the give when you’re selling books. Of course I don’t expect to make a fortune from selling used books, but based on some of the junk they sell in there compared to the really good quality stuff I’ve brought in there and won’t take, it just doesn’t make sense. They did take a few books from me — about 9 of them — and gave me a whopping $ 7.50. Not worth it to even lug them in here hoping that you’ll get any decent amount for them. They are open quite late. I actually think they’re open til midnight, so that could be a bonus for some people for sure. The best thing about this place is their flat faced Persian cat.

I had some time to kill before a meeting at the new Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers, so I stepped into Wee Book Inn to browse. The outside of the store is deceiving — the place struck me as being a hole in the wall, but the store was quite deep. One thing that I don’t like about Wee Book Inn is that the books tend to be rather jumbled, with few clear categories, making browsing difficult unless you are looking for romance, horror, or thrillers. I was looking for religion and political science, and was able to find them after looking around for a while. The selection was not bad and the prices were reasonable. I came close to buying a For Better or For Worse comic strip collection, and a hardcover book by Noam Chomsky, but I fought the urge. I will, however, be back if I am in the area.

I came here to sell a bunch of books, but I guess I am naïve, because I thought I’d get at least $ 15-$ 20 for them, but she only offered me $ 8, so I lugged them back home. Okay, so I am not a fan of this place for selling books, but it’s still a great place to buy. This location has a pretty good selection. They have an awesome variety of DVD movies – better than most locations. Also, when you first walk in through the East doors, you’ll see a rack to your right. There’s all kinds of crazy deals on some really good books here. Come on, you know you want to read Rosie O’Donnell’s Detox – only $ 3 for hardcover!(Actually, I heard it’s pretty good.) I’ve also found some classic novels that I needed for some of my College courses. I’ve saved quite a bit of money! New books are so expensive, so Wee Book Inn is definitely the place to go for cheap book finds.
