Cute little place. Cozy. Chairs aren’t the most comfortable but they do the trick for short term seating. There are unique gifts to pick from if you’re in a shopping mood. Music is light and enjoyable. They offer free wifi which is super generous. Not much variety in terms of food menu but what they do offer is really good. I appreciate how they make their own food rather than import pre-made food. If you’re into caffeine, then this seems to be an excellent choice. If you’re not into caffeine(or can’t tolerate it) I can’t say they have a lot of original options. I asked if they had heard of red espresso and ended up regretting to ask. Their response was«we aren’t that kind of people» and went off on a tangent about how there are no proven benefits to anti-oxidants. Wasn’t into debating, simply was making an inquiry and possible suggestion on offering a beverage that would have me coming back more often. Oh well, who knows maybe he was having a rough morning. This incident aside, their service has been incredibly friendly and wonderful.

A local café in the Strathern neighbourhood that offers an range of hot and cold drinks with homemade baked items and interesting chocolates and sweets. The store stocks a unique variety of giftware and home décor, while also displaying local artisans work. The back portion of the shop houses an artists’ studio space, allowing customers to see works in progress.

I totally came across this place randomly after getting lost on my way to the bus in the Strathearn neighborhood. Upon walking in though and seeing all the cute things for sale and the little coffee bar in the corner I would definitely categorize it as a happy accident. There are all kinds of interesting things to buy including handmade childrens toys and jewelry. The prices range from ten dollars all the way into the hundreds for the gorgeous prints on the wall. I decided to stay for lunch after checking everything out and found it to be fairly satisfying. The menu only has a few things on it but the taste and presentation was great. My grilled cheese came out to me on a sandwich board with a handful of baked chips and a pickle. The staff was very friendly and I noticed them walking around with a pitcher of water refilling peoples cups and seeing how they were enjoying their day. How many coffee shops do you know that does that these days? If you like the shops on Whyte and in the Garneau neighborhood then you NEED to make a trip out to The Wired Cup.

I am so happy to have finally tried the Wired Cup! First off, I LOVE that this thriving little shop is in the heart of Strathearn, the neighborhood that I grew up in and has become very near and dear to me. It’s really easy to get to, with plenty of free parking(who can say that about the Garneau and old Strathcona coffee shops?) Then, once you get inside it comes the best little shop/café/gallery I’ve ever seen. They have trinkety gifts from Fred and they consign a lot of local jewelry and crafts. The art is beautiful and definitely worth checking out on its own. I’m actually not sure if they are still using Trancend coffee, they might be– I never asked. Regardless the coffee was great and the food looked good too. I wish I hadn’t already eaten before I got there or I would have devoured one of those cinnamon buns(only available Saturdays) Next time you have a hankering for some Starbucks, just keep driving and make your way to the Wired Cup!

Is it an art gallery or a coffee shop? Better yet, The Wired Cup is both. This quirky spot is hidden away in the south-side Strathearn neighbourhood, but finding it is like going on a treasure hunt. They make some deadly good cappuccino, latte and espresso(all from Transcend Coffee), crunchy biscotti and, on Saturday mornings only, some ridiculously delicious and sticky cinnamon buns. The owners are artists and can often be seen working at their large craft table. It is a unique spot to have a cup of joe, ogle some local artwork and perhaps pick up a nifty gift.

I love independent, neighbourhood shops that have their own local flavour to them. The Wired Cup sells all kinds of locally-produced, artsy home items, toys, jewelry, and novelties, in addition to original art created by its owners. There is also a coffee bar featuring Transcend coffee — I got a cup to go, and it was one of the best coffees I have had in a while. There are a few tables to sit and enjoy your drink. Although the shop seems tucked out of the way on the south side, it is worth a visit if you enjoy coffee and originality.
