I visited their location near the superflea for brunch not knowing what to expect or even that I was going to have brunch. I ordered sloppy tacos — creamy polenta topped with the most delicious ground beef, salsa verde, sour cream, pickled onions and hot sauce… at least I think that’s what was in it. Holy crack it was delicious. The people were cool. The atmosphere was comfortable and cool — but not make you feel like a loser cool. I am so genuinely happy to pay for really tasty delicious interesting food. I can’t wait to go back!

Ate a pork chop at the Porkapalooza at the Local Omnivore. Great couple of guys and definitely know their food. Little sauce with some cilantro and garlic and a pineapple salsa. Fantastic. I would have taken a picture but nom nom nom get in my belly.

I visited the Local Omnivore for lunch while it was parked in Churchill Square. I had the«Greens, Egg, No Ham» which was consisted of a fried egg of a bed of greens with a very tasty turkish bun holding it all together. The sandwich I had was one of two veggie options available, the other being a twist on grilled cheese. Greens, Eggs, No Ham was tasty but nothing too ambitious. The buzz around this place was largely focused on their bacon which explains the option to add bacon to everything. Overall, the Local Omnivore provided a tasty if not radically inventive sandwich for lunch. The service was relatively fast and the people staffing the truck were energetic, engaging, and fun. While the options on the menu may have been slightly overpriced, the enthusiasm of the people in the truck made me happy to be supporting what is clearly a labour of love.

Boring menu with little variation. For the price, the portion was small and the ingredients were simple. Half a bacon and egg sandwich should not cost more than 5⁄6 $. Edmonton food trucks are pushing out mediocrity with boring, unambitious menus. Drift food truck is far superior in creativity and taste. I saw potential in these guys and their ability, so I’d like to see them push their boundaries and push their menu.

Really good food. Offers a heightened level of meaning to bacon. Priced well. Excellent service. And the best coffee in the area, period.

The Local Omnivore, as with many YEG-town food trucks, does sandwiches. As far as sandwiches are concerned, they are pretty good. Many revolve around their custom-made bacon; although I’m pretty tired of the«bacon makes everything better» mantra that seems to pervade Edmontonian cuisine as of late, I must concede that it is some of the best bacon I’ve tasted. I tried the BLT and Inside-Out Grilled Cheese. The tomatoes on the BLT were ripe and luscious, which is a rare thing. It’s nice to see tomatoes that actually taste like tomatoes. The inside-out grilled cheese was decent, but based on the name I had expected the cheese to be on the outside and the bread on the inside. Instead, the slices of bread had been flipped so that the fluffy insides faced out and the crust faced in. So, not really inside-out in the truest sense of the word. Price-wise, T.L.O. is steep. I can appreciate all the behind-the-scenes expenses of running a truck — I know it isn’t cheap — but the sandwiches were only about as big as my girl-hand. I ate two of them and was hungry again not long after.

Great food. It was my first time and I was starved. I got the BLT and the fried egg sandwich. OK, so I don’t often eat this much but they were both worth going a little off my diet. Great bacon, tasty bread. Friendly service. Done to perfection. This is a little know gem and a place to go at lunch if you are close to government centre. look them up on Facebook and follow them.
