This is probably the worst Starbucks store in Edmonton, and certainly the worst one on campus. The prices here are more expensive than the regular Starbucks locations(e.g. $ 2.25 vs $ 2.10 for tall coffee), probably due to it being franchised by Aramark. The service here is slow. If you’re getting a simple brewed coffee it’s fine, but if you’re getting a beverage, it takes forever to get them and there are long lines waiting for the drinks. The baristas often have language barriers too. The quality is mediocre at best. Like the other reviews say, they often make the wrong drinks. Also they often dilute the coffee or simply run out of them, especially during busy exam season. I either get a diluted coffee tasting like corn tea; or they simply run out of them and ask me to mix other roasts. How can you be a coffee store and run out of coffee? I just want a full tall cup of coffee. In summary: overpriced, slow, bad quality control. I strongly recommend seeking other options for coffee. This is certainly not the Starbucks experience you’re looking for.

Oh dear god … if you go to a «regular» Starbucks(i.e. not on the U of A campus), you’ll have an awesome visit and it’ll be everything Starbucks is suppose to be. If you go to a Starbucks on the U of A campus, you’ll probably have a terrible experience, especially at this location, right outside the Cameron Library. First off, the servers only speak spanish. Why? I have no idea. They also never smile or strike up a normal, polite conversation with you. The one server who must be a manager of sorts always looks like she’s ready to kill someone. I actually don’t think she’s capable of a smile or even standard conversation. The drinks and food are the same as any other Starbucks, and you early points on your Starbucks membership at this location, but you can’t use your points at this location. This is stupid and I think has something to do with how this location is franchised compared to others. I worked at the library and in the summer this location didn’t open until 8am, the same time the library opened. For students, this is fine, but for staff it sucked. If they even opened 15 minutes earlier it would have made life so much easier. And in the summer their sign says they close at 3:30pm. Personally I think that’s ridiculously early for a coffee shop. And for awhile their sign said 4pm, but they still closed at 3:30pm! They’re also incredibly slow. In fact, I think I could be faster moving backwards. They always seem to have a line, but it’s mainly because they serve so slowly! They have two cash registers, but I’ve only ever seen the one open. They also seem to have a hard time keeping the condiments refilled. Most mornings the milk isn’t out right away, and most afternoons there’s no sweetener available. They’re definitely letting the Starbucks reputation down.

I’ve quite honestly experienced better service at other Starbucks locations. That said, I really do appreciate the fact that I can use my Starbucks Gold card(or app) here just like at any other Starbucks location. This location isn’t one where you would be likely to sit and enjoy your beverage: instead you are expected to buy one and go elsewhere to enjoy it. On my most recent visit, the staff member serving me didn’t understand what I wanted until I rephrased it twice and even after I answered her questions she provided me a slightly different product than what I requested(which really wasn’t a problem but it was rather odd). I do appreciate having access to Starbucks in this location but I wish the service were better, especially when it is summer and not very busy, and that there were more of a seating area available.

This Starbucks get point for its location and very little else. When they have a line that is long enough to block the entrance to the library, do they open the second cash register? No. Do they call drinks properly(ex: Grande decaf soy Americano misto)? No. Do they remember to put in the correct number of pumps of syrup into a drink? No. Hence my dissatisfaction, which is only made worse, because I am a Starbucks partner, I know how it should be done. I understand that it is not easy for the partners in the Cameron Starbucks because I know that there is often a language barrier in effect and because they are a subsidized location, they cannot take gift cards or use the Starbucks MobileApp. I get all that, but that does not mean that they can skiv off from upholding Starbucks standards.

I have to shake my head at this Starbucks. First of all I don’t think it taste like Starbucks at all. The drinks are generally prepared wrong and the staff seem to always be confused with what you are asking for. The reason this Starbucks gets two stars and not one is because of its proximity to where I spend the majority of my time. I’ll meet friends here for coffee sometimes, but I prefer CBG. I also think that the fee to use your debit card is ludicrous… no other Starbucks makes you pay that!

I give this Starbucks points for location. It is conveniently located right next to Cameron library. I am not a Tim Horton’s girl, unlike the majority of U of A students(as evidenced by the two Tim Hortons located steps from each other in CAB), so I’m glad that this Starbucks exists to meet my growing caffeine needs. If you, like me, are one of those people who ridiculously customizes your drinks, then be prepared for the possibility that the staff will either not understand what you are asking for or make your drink incorrectly. It doesn’t always happen, but it happens often enough that it should be noted. It would be nice if they had a better seating area so that you could meet up with friends for a coffee break. This is definitely a grab-and-go place. The use of the debit machine incurs a $ 0.35 fee and there is no mobile app scanner so they must enter your card number manually.

I usually don’t partake in Starbucks, but during cram season, it’s my saviour. I’ll usually stop in for a cheese croissant or a double bagged awake tea(tastes terrible but does the job) when I’m studying. It’s proximity to the library is really the best, especially when I can’t spare the extra five minutes to go to Timmy’s.

So here it goes, I’ve been having Starbucks White chocolate mocha since 4 years in various cities from Grande Prairie(Alberta), Calgary, edmonton(stores other than cameron), various places in BC, London(England), and the USA. I went to this store yesterday, ordered my thing and the glass says WM(as an standard its supposed to be WCM), It actually turns out to be caramel mocha so I went back to them and they replaced it and I got the right drink. Today though, first one had a watery feel and milkish color and shit taste(it said WCM though, on the glass), so I went back and got another one which had a dark orange color(and they told me they were out of whip cream so I had to take it without that). Tasted it, this time it was THICK as hell and some crap taste. I was so pissed of by then that I went back to them and told them to garbage it for

Starbucks seems out of place in an academic library. And there is nowhere to sit, The drinks are on par with any other Starbucks — but with two Tim Hortons just outside the library on the same floor, this seems redundant.

Meh, indeed . The starbucks on the UofA campus is a disappointing experience. It’s not meant to be a place where people sit and drink coffee, like a regular starbucks joint. But that doesn’t particularly bother me. It’s the quality of coffee served there, is what I’m complaining about. Working in the neighboring building, I have probably stopped here for a coffee, maybe 50 times and have been disappointed, maybe 35 – 40 times. For some reason, the staff(invariably students at the university) don’t know how to operate an espresso machine! The café lattés taste like latté(the italian word latte means milk). The cappucinos are invariably cold and generally, the service is quite poor with a big mess in the collection area and people’s drinks always mixed up and confused. It’s really like a big production movie with poor acting. Disappointing indeed. I guess if you were getting just a regular cup of coffee(drip coffee, i mean). you shouldn’t be too disappointed because it’s easier to stay within the norms and specifications that starbucks insist on, when loading the drip(for those who don’t know, for the entire height of the drip machine, a predefined packet of coffee is used to load the top). But apart from the drip — it’s just a desperate option to go to.
