We’ve walked by this place a thousand times and thought we’d try take out. Very disappointing. We ordered honey garlic chicken. When I first tried it I wasn’t even sure it was chicken… I’m still not sure. It kind of smelt like seafood, maybe octopus. If it was chicken, it was rubbery. It was drenched in some sweet sauce and since it was breaded, it was all soggy. The beef chow mein was ok and the chicken fried rice was average at best. I don’t think we’ll be back. We feel we wasted $ 35 for the dinner for 2. Not good value for a very subpar meal.

This could be the worst restaurant I’ve eaten at… Not just the worst in its category. The dim sum was all overdone in a variety of ways… Burnt spring rolls and green onion cakes, mushy shrimp dumplings. We ordered a vegetable dish and were advised not to order anything in that quadrant of the menu as they didn’t have it. Given it was no cheaper than Its competitors, I would avoid this place at all costs.

Terrible dim sum, the worst I have ever had. For a place with«Spice» in it’s name, there was very little flavour. They had run out of vegetables and big dishes… I have driven past this place almost every day for the last 11 years, and assumed its longevity was due to taste, quality, value, ambiance. I found all of this lacking. Avoid at all costs.

I really, really like this place. The food is great and the service is always friendly, you can’t beat the price! Dim sum is really good — you order off the menu, rather than cart service, but the food comes at intervals so you still have the dim sum experience. The restaurant itself is shabby but clean, it’s my family’s favourite Chinese food place.

My family passed by this restaurant a couple times so we decided to go here for some dim sum. On the inside, the place was small and packed since it was on a Sunday morning and we waited a little before sitting down. Their prices are reasonable though they didn’t had a large variety of dishes as with other places I’ve been too. The food came out ok although my pork bun was cold in the inside(probably because they didn’t heated it up enough) and the shrimp dumplings were very soft and soggy. One thing I didn’t like was that the manager and waitress keep coming to our table as we were eating, insisting us to try out their other dishes. If we wanted to order that dish, we would’ve done it at the start. I’ll probably won’t come back unless my relatives or friends want to go but even then I would recommend them to go somewhere else.

Go to Spice Kitchen. It sits on a strange little corner on University Ave, easy to miss. but a treasure! I cant account for anything recently, but this was one of the first places I ate at when moving to Edmonton. Soft spot, maybe, but I remember the food as being fantastic. Like the previous review, the green onion cakes and hot and sour soup are awesome. I remember their hot pots to be great also. Like most Asian food, everything is best shared. Bring some friends and check it out.

Excellet green onion cakes and hot&sour soup! This is the best I’ve had in Alberta. Every time I’m in Edmonton, I go to Spice Kitchen to satisfy my craving. I also like their shanghainese fried noodles with pork(you can ask for the handmade noodles that they make fresh onsite). Some times I’m crazy enough to even get the hot&sour soup for take-out so that I can take some back down to Calgary. I can’t vouch for the other dishes because I order the same items every time. And they are consistent time after time, at least on these items.
