This place is pricey and I can only recommend it as a «treat» place for visits every now and then. I’ve been there 4 times with my family since it opened and so far the only complaint I have is some of the cooks are not cautious about over-cooking the meat for both the burgers and hotdogs. However, if you go when its not so busy there is a good chance they will cook it as they advertise at the front(with a little bit of pink in the middle). My favorite thing they offer is the guacamole topping. Its very flavourful and tastes great on both burgers and hot dogs. I’d also recommend the mango chutney if they have it in stock.

I wouldn’t say it was the best burger I have ever tried, but every burger is different and I like them all for different reasons. I eat a lot of burgers. I like all their signature options. No thinking, only delicious eating. On my first visit I went safe and chose a signature. I really like the options to make your own burger. The have a fabulous selection of condiments and assorted toppings. Some are extra. Since this is a NY Fries situation you can have some of their well known delicious poutine! What I did not like was the lack of seating. There is a patio, but winter. We ordered and while we were waiting saw there were not many tables left. It seems the going norm is to come in order then send someone to hold a table. It ruins the flow. That is not on 100% on the business, but people would not do it if they felt they had enough room. I still am looking forward to the next visit.

Wow, Extremely disappointing… talk about an overpriced burger with little to no flavor. The burger looked like a frozen premade patty that they bought from a grocery store and cooked it and called it gourmet. I could do a better job even after a bottle of whiskey using a BIC lighter.

The pictures on the menu looked amazing. But when the burgers came I was pretty disappointed. The bread was dry. With no flavour. No crunch. The north burger was so tiny. One tiny patty and a few onions plus a dry bun. No flavour. And the price was outrageous. Over 20 dollars for 2 burgers. Will never go back. Overall takeaway was the horrible bread. No crunch. The whole burger just felt like mush in your mouth. Like something you slapped together in 5 minutes at your house lol. They just took the buns out of a bag. And no ice in the fountain pop. A&w is miles better. Subway is miles better.

Grate burger pick your own toppings they had a little spice to them loved it. I got 3 maple bacon mushroom melts all 3 my favorite ingredients. My husband was full off one witch barely happens the thick burger helps. My daughter eat most of her burger but a little to spicy for her, but she scarfed down the fries thanks to the New York fries addition to this burger joint. Definitely going back its just down the street grate for a lazy day when mom don’t want to cook.

Updated review November 23, 2015. Came for a late lunch. My second time here. Unfortunately, I was not as impressed with the food during this visit. I ordered, The Nacho burger, with cheddar cheese, guacamole, fresh tomato salsa, lettuce and jalapeño sour cream. From the description I was expecting a flavorful burger… sadly I was disappointed. The 4oz burger was charred and this flavor overpowered any other flavors I was supposed to be tasting. The guacamole was barely evident even though the worker put the guacamole on both slices of my bread. I felt the whole thing lacked seasoning, especially salt. The server was nice and helpful but she even admitted how tired she was as she put my burger together. I had asked for a side of pickles and she had forgotten, even though it wasn’t even busy. The only reason I’m still giving this place 3 stars is for the New York Fries poutine which is comparability in quality to the other locations. I might come back for poutine but I’ll likely go elsewhere for a better tasting burger. Too bad because I live so close to this burger place. Original review First time to come here! They just opened up this past Tuesday. The restaurant is located in a strip mall in a residential area, near to where I live. They’re open Monday to Saturday 11−10pm and Sundays from 11−9pm. As soon as I saw the NYF logo, I knew I wanted to give this place a try. Sure enough, the familiar New York Fries and poutine were there on the menu. I think that having these popular fries on the menu, would definitely help bring people in to try the food at this place. As soon as you walk in, you’ll notice that this place is clean, has lots of seating and lots of staff. The restaurant is set up cafeteria style where you start on one end(make selections and pay) and then you go towards where they make your burgers. Near the cashier there’s a sign that says their burgers are cooked to an internal temp of 160 °F and because they use fresh patties, there may be some pink inside. But, if you want your burger well done, you just have to let them know. They also have the option of a gluten free burger bun for $ 1.00. There’s also Shaw Wifi available! I opted for the 4oz True North Burger($ 6.85 burger or $ 11.50 with the combo). There’s a 6oz option for $ 9.95 or combo for $ 14.60. The combos come with regular fries and soft drink. My burger had cheddar cheese, bacon, maple infused onions and signature sauce. Personally I found my burger a bit dry so I added some Heinz ketchup — worked like a charm. I enjoyed this burger with a side of regular New York Fries poutine and a praline milkshake. The milkshake was average, nothing too special but I think praline flavor is not a common option. They have one TV and were able to change the channel to the Blue Jays game(more than one customer’s request). Does this make it a bit of a sports bar? Hehe. Maybe during this visit. Nice that the staff were open to he suggestion to change the channel. Overall, I know I’ll be back here. It’s near where I live, it’s quick, it’s reasonably priced and it’s familiar.

I REALLY wanted to like this place but I can’t. It is nothing like the 2 I experienced in Calgary. Maybe it’s b/c they are newly opened but the staff seem confused and uncoordinated. Not to mention they seem to have the personality of celery. I believe the light haired Arab woman who«served» us was the owner and well yeah ummmm well she never smiled once. I might come back but it won’t be the frequency I kept up in Calgary.

For $ 36 this place is nothing special. Tried the regular burger and I could have made it at home using a frozen patty because that’s basically what it is. The Chicken Club my husband had had no seasoning on the chicken so if he didn’t have the garlic mayo and toppings it would have been worse than bland. I really wish I would have checked Unilocal first before coming because then I never would have walked in the door. It’s too bad too because this could be a good place if they used fresh meat instead of frozen patties and frozen chicken with no seasoning. They are also missing kid combos. So if your kid wants a hot dog or burger be prepared to pay over $ 4 for one. That doesn’t even include a drink and fries. Overall I’m extremely disappointed and wouldn’t come here again.

Okay — we had high hopes probably too high. Our burgers were dull and cold. The veggies they put on the burgers are so cold that it chills the whole burger. Dry meat and stale bun. NY fries — same problem with the cheese curds on the poutine so cold it all becomes cold instantly. Overpriced 34 bucks for two people — at a cafeteria style restaurant. Thumbs down — go somewhere else.

If you are used to the traditional NYF mall establishment of tasty greasy fries, you will be disappointed. I have to say that I find the mall NYF much better than this place. Firstly, I think it’s great concept of picking your own toppings. However, all the fresh toppings in the world can’t cover up the dry, dull, tasteless patties. I watched the cook press and cook the crap of my burger. Squeezing all the juices and flavour out. The fries didn’t have the same snap of NYF. My fries were under seasoned. I order the poutine and they were stingy with the gravy. Making the cold cheese curds just lay on top of the underwhelming fries. I really wanted to like this meal, but we actually threw it out after a few bites and headed to IHOP across the parking lot. Our bill came to $ 31.67 for two meals, which wasn’t worth it at all. Good concept, bad execution.

New York Fries– with burgers. And there lie the problem. The good news is at least you get choose from a variety of toppings on your burger also they don’t use process cheese. The bad– it’s a frozen patty and very bland. The buns are also bland and at least to me a little stale. The seating area is generous with a nice modern décor. Come for the fries only if your into NYF.

We checked this place out last Thursday, and it was packed! We’ve been anxiously waiting for it to open, and it didn’t disappoint. In spite of the huge line and full tables, they were staffed to meet the demand. Some of the staff seemed a little overwhelmed, but they weren’t afraid to ask someone else if they didn’t have an answer. They had only been open two full days, so we were impressed. I had the 4oz True North with no sauce, because mayo is nasty, with added tomatoes, and Shawn had the Hawaiian type one with added mango relish. We also had a regular poutine and a chocolate shake. The maple infused onions on my burger were tasty, even though I’m not one for raw onions; they were diced thinly enough that getting one on it’s own didn’t kill my taste buds. The buns were lovely, the bacon was crisp and abundant, and you got more than enough tomatoes for the whole burger. There isn’t much to say about the poutine that I haven’t said about New York Fries before. It was great. Their gravy is rich and thick, and always hot enough to melt the real cheese curds. The restaurant itself is bright, big and open. They have space outside for a small patio in the summer, so that’s a bonus. The negatives: the chocolate shake was thin, and seemed more foam than substance. The flavour wasn’t bad, but I tend to like a thick shake. Initially, I wanted a mocha shake, but they just mix chocolate and vanilla for their mocha, so I opted for straight chocolate. The party was also a little on the dry side. There wasn’t a trace of gristle to be found, which is awesome, and I love that they grind their own meat, but I’m hoping that the dryness was because of how busy they were. We will see on a subsequent visit. The price was good, and they have vegetarian options as well(for those that don’t eat meat). They also have hot dogs, and a build your own option in addition to the premade burger flavours. Give it a shot. It’s worth it.
