Q Hair Design

I went to Q Hair yesterday and I am so so happy that I did! I have had my hair done by the same stylist for over 6 years and when she suddenly quit hair, I had no idea where to go. Thanks to the great reviews. I thought I would give Q a try– I walked in without an appointment at about 12:30 (Thursday) and was immediately introduced to a stylist– Alex, who I am convinced is some sort of Wizard– She transformed my sorry looking hair, which is very fine and at an awkward bang growing out stage into a beautiful, healthy and full looking masterpiece on my head! I had been feeling like I was looking old and she shaved a few years off for sure, and I’ve already received a ton of compliments! After how great it looked, I was even more shocked by the totally reasonable price! If you are looking for a great, trendy place full of talented, friendly pros at a great price, go to Q, I will definitely be back!

Love getting my hair done here! I was in Seattle last month and was stopped on the street and complimented on how fabulous my hair was. My hair is ombré, and the woman commented on how well it was done.

I made an appointment at Q Hair based on the reviews here on Unilocal. The first visit I had a cut and colour with Tracy. She was very nice and for the most part did a good job. I was unsure about the colour, it seemed a little dark as I wanted a colour that would be low maintenance. (I am light blond going grey/​white.) I explained that I have reduced mobility and other health problems that effects my ability and tolerance to perform certain tasks. My 2^nd App. was with Brianna because Tracy was busy. My hair had lost a lot of the colour except the hair closest to the re-​growth, which had a dark orange/​blond band and it looked terrible. After consulting with Brianna and another stylist, Hi-​lites would be the best solution. After the colour she dried my hair, back combed the roots and left the rest to just hang down straight. My hair looked terrible, it looked as though I hadn’t had anything done. The total was $ 180 for the colour and a bottle of hair product. (No cut) A few days later I called the salon to share my disappointment and was told to come back in. I also needed to exchange the hair product I bought for the right one. Brianna thanked me for returning, giving her the opportunity to fix the colour. She consulted with Tracy and it was decided that my re-​growth would be re-​coloured and hi-​lites added. I noticed she was unsure at times, second guessing, obviously lacking experience. As I was sitting waiting for my hair Brianna returned to explain that «normally I would be charged for the hair colour and the hi-​lites but today they would make an exception“and also «I would have to pay the difference when I chose a new hair product» My hair colour looked nice after it was dried. She didn’t bother or offer to style it for me even though the salon was quiet with only one other client present.(not hers) She helped me reselect a product but said she wasn’t sure how to do the exchange and required help. She came back some time later with Wendy the owner. By this time I was a little bit miffed and insulted by the mention of money. I never expected to pick a superior hair product without paying the difference and I only wanted what I had originally paid for as far as the hair service. I suggested that they keep the hair product in lieu of any additional cost that was incurred with the extra colour used and I would not reselect new product. Wendy reminded me that they were «doing my hair for free». I explained that I only wanted what I paid for trying to explain that I didn’t want to pay over $ 200 JUST to colour my hair. She was very adamant about the fact they were doing this for free and also that two services were performed and next time it would be more money. I explained that I had told the girls right from the beginning that I wanted low maintenance hair and I was not prepared to go through all that work or expense. At that time I realized that she had not been told about my first appointment with Tracy. She thought I had only been in the salon once before. Nobody bothered to explain the whole situation to her just that I wanted something for «FREE».
To summarize it’s really to bad none of these people listened to what I really said. And if I had walked in wearing a Channel Suit things would have been very different.

I went here to get my hair done for my wedding in Jasper. Wendy was amazing… I was under a time crunch, because we had to drive to Jasper for the wedding, and Wendy got straight to work. She asked me what I was going for and where the wedding was, she completely understood what I wanted. She got my hair done perfectly with time to spare. I called the day before and they even fit in my maid of honor to have her hair done. Our hair was amazing and it held up even with the 4 hour drive and the outdoor ceremony. It even held up in the light rain that we got during the ceremony. This was my first trip to Q Hair and I will definitely be back.

Glynis is truly a magnificant stylist. She has some skill let me tell you :) I came here after being refered by my mother.
I also booked my husband Steve in. We had to cancel his appointment last minute due to traffic conditions (he was coming back from up north) The gals happily moved his appointment to the next day. no muss no fuss.
These gals are amazing! Great atmosphere and GREAT prices!

I absolutely love Glynis. She gets the color right, she always has fun ideas. We can chat for a bit but then she lets me peacefully enjoy my treatment and relax. I’ve tried other places as people have given me gift cards but no where is ever the same. The girls at the front desk are kind and I love the relaxing feel of the building.

LOVE Q — no one has ever cut my hair like Brittney does! She nails it every time and my colour always looks fabulous. The salon is super funky, has a great industrial feel going on. And I love all the jewelry, purses, hats etc that they carry — I always manage to find a unique gift for someone while my colour is processing.
I recommend Q to all my friends, totally a hidden gem!
