I love this Micheal Hill location. My boyfriend bought me a very nice pair of diamond earrings at the West Edmonton location and was told that I could get screw-​backs if I wanted, free of charge. All I had to do was to bring them in when I was ready. Well needless to say that a few days later when I went in to get them done, I was given a really hard time and they wanted to charge me for it. I’ve been there a few times since (you always give them the benefit of the doubt and tell yourself that the last clerk you dealt with was just having an ”off” day) but every time that I go in there you are either completely ignored or they great you and then they try to sell you something, and I mean hard core selling tactics!
At the Kingsway Mall, you are greeted EVERYTIME no matter what you look like or what you wear. ALL of the staff are really nice and helpful, even when you say you are just looking. I’ve been in there several times, they always offer to show me something even if they know I’m not buying, and they have polished my earrings without me even asking them for it.
The service is FABULOUS, and I would highly recommend this location. If ever I or my boyfriend would have to buy another piece of jewelry, we would come here.

When I was planning my previous wedding, I was looking for a wedding band to match my custom Tacori engagement ring. This thing was pricey, and we had decided not to put a real centre stone in it right away to save money for our honey moon. I went in to Michael Hill one day to scope out bands because I had never been in before. I was greeted immediately and asked if I needed anything. I explained what I was looking for, and she directed me to the appropriate areas. She complimented my ring, and asked if she could see it. I held up my hand, and she said it looked like it needed cleaning. I was aware, and she offered to do it. I was going to take it to my usual jeweler, Crowley’s, but I figured why not? When she brought it back, it didn’t look any cleaner, and she said, «The side stones are very nice, but were you aware the centre is fake?» I was appalled. Did she just take my ring to investigate my stones? I stiffly replied that yes, I knew, and that there was nothing there I liked, which was the truth. It’s an average store, with another branch in WEM just like it. Not recommended.

Michael Hills Jewellers in Kingsway mall is one of the better jewelry stores. From my experience, the quality of their products is better and isn’t mass produced like other chain stores. Granted, there may be more than one of the same item but you can tell just by looking that their stock isn’t run of the mill.
Michael Hill Jewellers not only sells a variety of jewellery — rings, earrings, pendants, necklaces, pins, etc., they also provide jewellery repair, valuations and insurance quotes. They also are able to produce custom pieces which in my opinion takes them leaps and bounds above the competition.
The store itself is unassuming and rather bland, but the brilliance of the jewels, gems and metals take that blandness away. Whether you’re looking for an engagement ring or a graduation gift, stop into Michael Hill Jewellers and see what they have.
