I tried to book an appointment here based on Unilocal reviews. I called Thursday afternoon, but the nail tech wasn’t in so I left my name and number and was told she would call me when she got in Friday at 11 o’clock. I called again Friday afternoon. The woman who answered the phone recognized that I had called the previous day and again told me that I would get a call back. When I hadn’t heard two days later on Saturday, I went somewhere else. Even if they were booked up for the next week or two, I would expect a call back to try and schedule an appointment. Update: I never got a call back!

I can only speak to my experience with one of the estheticians here, but Natalia is wonderful. She does a fantastic job. Plus she is so much fun. Going to her is kind of like hanging out with a friend. Kind of, but not quite, as hanging out with friends usually doesn’t entail having my hair pulled out from the root. But other than that, going to Mary’s Place is a surprisingly fun experience.

I found Mary’s Place through an online coupon site, and went for a mani/pedi/brow wax with Natalia. First, I was left in the waiting room for 15 minutes with no explanation until Natalia came rushing out. She apologized and explained that she was running behind and that it would be just another minute. When I finally made it to the treatment room, I found it a bit odd — very cramped with a massage table-like lounger in the centre of the room. I was directed into a chair and told to soak my feet in a low sink — again kind of odd — then after my soak, I was instructed to shimmy across the room on a little towel and lay down on the lounger. Weird. Natalia was very friendly, and got right down to work on my feet — giving me good tips on how best to manage ingrown toenails. When she appied a scrub to my legs and feet, again because of the odd configuration of the room, she used a damp towel to wipe the scrub off rather than a rinse, which left a good amount for me to wash off later. When she moved to my fingers, I was still reclined on the lounger with Natalia sitting beside me, which meant I was having to reach one arm across my body over to her for her to access my left hand/arm. This was not terribly comfortable. The brow wax was fantastic. Quick and painless and perfectly shaped. When I got home and could examine my fingers and toes, the polish on my toes was also on my cuticles, and the polish on my fingers was applied so lightly that I could see through it(possibly the colour was watered down?). Overall, it was OK — well worth the price of the coupon, but not the best mani/pedi I have ever gotten.

Mary’s Place is located downtown a little ways from my house. Honestly I dont mind! Patti does my nails and has for a while. She’s been doing gel nails now for over a year and has only recently moved to Mary’s Place. Natalia also does my leg waxing. I’ve been getting my legs waxed for years! And just started going to Natalia. She did the best job! There was no missing spots and almost no pain!
