My favourite garlic vendor in Edmonton. Prices went up about a year or two ago but still a deal. The shawarma plate could be two meals, easy. Friendly staff.

I decided to grab lunch at La Shish having walked past a number of times and being in the area I felt that it might be good to give it a try. The service here is great and there is a good selection. Also, the wait is extremely short. I decided to go with the beef shawarma. Three words: sour, bitter, and dry. On the menu it is described a high quality beef but it is far from it. I don’t think I will be using the loyalty card that was given to me.

You’ll get yourself a good drunk feed here! I always hit La Shish after a night out on Jasper. They’re super fast, friendly, and the food is pretty damn tasty. I go for a falafel wrap, but I’ve seen my drunk friends eat a variety if things off their menu and we’re always a satisfied bunch.

Having not been to every Lebanese place in Edmonton(someday, maybe) I cannot definitively say this is the best Shawarma in town but this is definitely my personal favourite. Nearly a week doesn’t go by where we don’t come in for lunch or takeout. Love the meat, love the garlic sauce, love the hummus, love the rice, love the pitas. Small place, only about 4 tables and the prices for the full plates are in the $ 15 range but you definitely get what you pay for. Bit more of a feel good option nutritionally than your typical takeout pizza/burgers as well. Good service, very clean, always quick and friendly. Also baby friendly, which is is a nice plus.

After 2.5 years of looking down at La Shish from our balcony we finally decided to try it for dinner tonight. We weren’t really missing out. Although the staff were very friendly, the chicken shawarma was dry and pretty flavourless. The potatoes were not fresh, but at least they provided a good vehicle to get the tasty garlic sauce into our mouths! We noticed that they are open to 4am on Saturday evenings, probably to cater to the On the Rocks crowd. Maybe the food is fresher then than on a Monday evening? I wish I had better things to say about La Shish!

This is some good Shawarma now that La Shish is under new management. The chicken shawarma sandwich is garlicky-awesomeness. Worth it for a quick bite or a whole meal!

I love a good Mediterranean/Middle Eastern wrap! I don’t know why or how that region came up with such wonderful inventions such as Shawarma /Falafel/Kebab. All I know is that these are the best things to come out of the region and that includes Jesus, Muhammad and Judaism combined! La Shish is under new management now and I love it here. The serve the halal meat which I simply love. The food is excellent and the price is very right at 7.49 for a Beef Shawarma or 7.99 for a Shish Kafta. I’ve never had a problem here and find the service very good. I come here often times very late in the evening. They always seem to be open when I need them!

Ate here a while ago and went back several times on consecutive days since the food was so good. Shawarma was to die for. You could feed a small country with the meat in the shawarma. Really good taste, Staff was super friendly and accomodating. Ambience sucked. If there was comfortable seating, it would be a nice hangout. Hours are fantastic. Heard the owners were Lebanese but that’s ok since I’m a big fan of KD Lang

Went here the other day for dinner while downtown, I must say the service was great but the food quality and quantity are poor, I am not sure if it under new ownership or mgmt but it was not the same place I used to love getting a shawarma, it was very dry like it had been there from the day before, the rest of the meal was fine, I was very disappointed, hopefully this was just a one time incident.

I’ve had better beef shwarma in Calgary. Found the beef to be tough and dry. I will have to go back to try the chicken based on past reviews, but for now, it doesn’t even come close to Jimmy’s in Calgary…

I think I’ll need to head back to La Shish Touk. I stopped by to grab a bite before a big Unilocal event because it’s just around the corner from the venue. It was convenient, the food came out quickly, it was a lot of food for the money, and best of all, it’s not Subway(which is next door). Staff are nice, although we didn’t really have a ton of interaction with them. They were, however, patient while we decided what to order. My chicken kabob was freaking delicious. Like, stupid good. Mixed with rice plus veggies for what, $ 11? $ 12? Nerves might have been a factor, but I also think the incredibly huge size of the plate contributed to my only eating ¼ of the meal. Can’t wait to head back when I’m not about to throw the biggest Unilocal party of my career and I can probably appreciate the meal. Good pita bread, too!

Honestly, La Shish has long been one of my favorite places to eat-at 14 bucks for the combo plate, it’s not the cheapest, but when portion size, ingredient quality and. flavor are taken into account La Shish can’t be beat. Note-the Jasper ave location isn’t fancy, but they do have a student discount(not sure how it works). If you’re looking for a more sophisticated dining experience, with some ambiance, try the other outlet in Mayfield Common in the Westend(excellent atmosphere for hookah enthusiasts).

This is an amazing find! It is an unconventional setup. You order from a counter and if you want to eat«for here» you have paper plates. Portions are large, the food is amazing. I like the service. Friendly and fast.

I was really hesitant to eat here after reading some of the reviews but after getting some twitter advice I decided to go for it:) I wasn’t sure what to get as its been a very long time since I’ve eaten Lebanese food but one of the guys there was super helpful and I ended up getting the Chicken Schwarma plate to go . The food was amazing and with two pita breads it was ample enough for a meal and a half for me. It included come veggie salad in some kind of olive oil/vinegar dressing, two kinds of rice, the chicken and this DIVINE garlic sauce. Next time I’ll remember to ask for double the sauce. I really think this a place I could get take out at at least twice a month and since its just across the street from where I live then I probably will too;)

La Shish is an OK place to grab a bite. It is also open late so I guess that’s a good thing for people out on Jasper. The best way to describe the food is by comparing it to something like Opa. They offer shwarmas and plates of chicken, rice, salads, etc. I have heard that they had some problems recently regarding the actual quality of their food and since then I have stopped going. I guess things have been going downhill. I once was a big fan of the place but now I am not so sure.

I used to love La Shish. The food was good and the only downside was that I smelled like garlic for the next 2 days. Things have kind of gone downhill in the last few months though. First, the wraps got a LOT smaller. Like from«share with a friend» to «barely filling». And on my last trip there, there was hardly even any garlic sauce in my wrap. No tomatoes either, just some sad bits of lettuce. La Shish is still good for late night take out, but it’s definitely not what it used to be.

La Shish is a Lebanese takeout restaurant located on Jasper Avenue. It specializes in wraps of different kinds, particular the chicken and beef shwarmas and the vegetarian felafel. There are also meal plates, which are like the wraps but with more meat and vegetables, with a piece of pita bread served on the side. What really makes the flavour here is the garlic sauce — it is quite strong, so make sure you bring some gum with you, or eat with someone you know really likes you and won’t mind. Cubed fried potatoes is a delicious side dish, also served with a dollop of garlic sauce. The wraps are quite substantial, and the plates are huge — full of authentic Middle Eastern goodness. There are a few sit-down tables, but most of the business is takeout.

I fell in love with Lebanese food while living in Montréal and I can get my fix here whenever the craving returns. Shish-Taouk — chicken or beef in pita filled with a garlic sauce, onions, parsley pickled turnips and hummus — is a delicious and fairly healthy meal or midnight snack. They serve this classic, plus lots of other yummy things — friend potatoes and cauliflower, tabbouleh(a parsley and tomato salad with couscous grain), meat kabobs, falafels and more. There are combo platters to choose from and the helpings are gargantuan. Two people can share a plate for $ 12, not including drinks. I like to get a tall can of cold mango juice with my meal. The staff are really friendly here, and like to talk and joke around. This place has a real family feel to it, like many ethnic restaurants do. It’s like visiting another country, just down the street, with different food, language and music. I love stopping here late at night as an alternative to greasy bar food.
