I had a pal coming over and it was their birthday and it was a Sunday at 4 pm and I needed cake of any kind. I don’t drive and I was on a limited timeframe so I was restricted to walking the 124 Street area. After trying a few different shops and cafes, I was disappointed that they were mostly sold down by this time. The last place I tried was LaFavorite and they still had a great selection to choose from! I picked up a couple single portions of Strawberry Cheesecake… and it was really good! They even had candles behind the counter that I could purchase too. It was all reasonably priced too! I’ll likely be back to check out more goodies. It’s also nice that they keep it well stocked even later in the day, unlike some other bakeries close by!

We came in on the spur of the moment because coming out urban diner it’s so hard not to catch a glimpse of the chocolate from the window! Came in and was greeted by a happy smiling Asian man. All the treats behind the glass just looked so good but then I saw macaroons. . I just had to have them. The thickness of the cookie looked like it would melt in your mouth… drool… So I bought the pack for $ 22.00 kinda steep but they were bigger than the average. I came home and took a bite out of one. I was so surprised at the filling, it was 2 dimensional. It was cream but a gel on the inside. It was like bitting into a hard shell cloud then 2 seconds later hit by a burst of flavor like fruit. Yup these are now my favorite in Edmonton. I will definitely be back here, probably next weekend.

For Easter Sunday, a friend bought and brought a dessert for our dinner last night and it was SOGOOD! It was a Passion Fruit cake. The texture and cream was light and fluffy, not overly sweet, and it actually had the seeds on top in the fruit design. Typically you cannot go wrong with a dessert from La Favorite. They seem to always do such a excellent job in creating desserts. If you haven’t tried their desserts you should! There is a reason why they have been around Edmonton for many years now. One of my aunts introduced us to the tiramisu cake back in the 90s and I’m sure ownership has changed since then, however its still one of the favorites bakeries to by from.
