Best sandwiches in Edm! I don’t normally eat sandwiches but these are amazing! There’s one sandwich that’s the same everyday and the other 3 are revolving but uses the same meats for the variations. I had the ‘you can call me on my cell-phở’. So delicious, very balanced. Tastes like a dry phở. Despite the large size, I still managed to eat it all in one go. Mmmmm, def a must try and must repeat! They are first come first served. And offers catering if you order 24 hrs in advance. Everything is also $ 10 or less.

A very small place but very cool vibe. I’ve been meaning to go here for some time and finally made it this morning. Tip: there is only room for 3 people to sit inside. Most sit outside. Also it is a bit hard to find. It is nestled between 3 boars and a cigar shop just north of OJs. I had the Grick middle breakfast sandwich and it was so tasty! Highly recommend it. Had their slow drip Heart coffee and it also was very fresh and so yummy.

Pros: Hellvua sandwich, grick middle was good, phở sandwhich was even better. Also good coffee. Cons: Pricey for what it is. FYI: It’s just a shack no seating space. No parking nearby.

I’d never been here before and was a little surprised by the atmosphere(loud – but good – hip hop music) but the sandwich I had was one of the most delicious things I’ve eaten in the city. I had the Grick Middle and I was blown away. Super fresh ingredients and packed with flavour. The coffee is similarly delicious! I’ll be recommending this place to everyone — don’t be scared away by the loud music!

Gotta say I probably never would have stopped here if Farrow didn’t show up in Avenue as one of the top 3 «Best To Go». Farrow is pretty small and there isn’t really any sitting space — probably a top reason it is a «best to go» place. Farrow sports 4 sandwiches, coffee and some other sides(I.e. Soda, snacks). I got the chicken pot pie and grick middle. The chicken pot pie sandwich was made like a grilled cheese with pie pastry and filling in the middle. Overall, an interesting twist on chicken pot pie and it was pretty tasty. The grick middle is a breakfast sandwich. I didn’t like this sandwich as much. The egg is done over easy so the broken yolk made it messy to eat. Also I’m not sure if it was the jam, aioli or the bacon but it tasted like bbq sauce, which was kind of over powering and not something I would imagine wanting in the morning. I’d say Farrow is definitely at least worth a try.

The bacon breakfast sandwich is amazing. But it’s to expensive for what you get. You get maybe one strip of bacon only so they should call it the egg sandwich instead. By the time you pay for extra bacon(which you have to) it’s like 12 bucks for this little sandwich. The staff is nice, busy, young hipster guys which is fun. There isn’t anywhere to sit you grab your food and go which is kinda fun to. My boyfriend refuses to go back because they are to expensive for what you get. I wish more places would give you bang for your buck. 4 strips of bacon instead of 1 would go a long way. 5 star sandwich if they add more meat. And lower prices. And I’ll go there every day !

I had never even heard of Farrow Sandwiches when it was suggested to me. I’m always up for trying something new, so this was one of those«hey, why not?!» moments. Walking into Farrow, there isn’t a whole lot of space, but the atmosphere is warm and inviting — not to mention it smells amazing! The menu isn’t huge to choose from(there is like 4 or 5 options for sandwiches), but everything looked so good. I ended up choosing the«Frank’s Grimey», and I can tell you — I wasn’t disappointed! The combination of braised pulled pork, tomato, lettuce and sweet pickles left little to be disappointed about. It probably would have tasted better if I had kept the ranch and blue cheese on it, but I’m a picky eater and neither of those make it on my must-have list. If you’re in the Whyte Ave area and you are looking for something quick yet filling for lunch, definitely check out Farrow Sandwiches!

Farrow is without a doubt, 100%, my most favorite place to eat in Edmonton. The sandwiches are dangerously delicious. I say that because as I live so close I found many ways to justify lunch from Farrow than making something myself. I already filled out 2 punch cards and you have to buy 12 sandwiches to get one free. That’s a lot of sandwiches. Thankfully for my wallet I don’t work from home anymore and my days of Farrow lunches are farther and fewer between. As there isn’t a whole lot of space to sit, it is really great in the summer when you can take your meal outside and sit on of of the picnic tables or over on the patio at the Three Boars(they are owned by the same people and aren’t open while Farrow is). Beyond the sandwiches they will also treat their customers to a limited number of specialty bakes goods. Very rarely will they repeat the desserts so if you see something you like get it while you can! As others have mentioned they brew some great«third wave coffee» and you can even join their coffee club and get a bag of beans every month. Farrow– I love you. I love your vibe, I love your Instagram and I love your food. Be mine 4ever.

«Grick Middle» is worth every penny of $ 7.50, though I’d grab three without a second thought if they were a buck or so cheaper. Who knew tomato jam and high quality bacon made such a difference? Small location makes for minimal sitting(or standing) room, so plan on taking your food and moving elsewhere.

FINALLY got to try a Farrow sandwich today. We don’t get south of the river very often, but Allan G. promised to take me out for coffee so I could write, and I decided to go to Transcend on 109th St. this time. After a few hours, I got hungry, so looked to see if Farrow was open, and it was! Like everyone said, it’s super tiny. I really wish they had more space. Two gals arrived after us, but got their sandwiches before us(because we were new and still trying to decide), and they decided to stay, which left only one seat. Although we had plans for stuff to do after our coffee, we canceled them because we wanted the sandwiches to still be hot, so that was kind of a downer. We both ordered the Marty… uh…I forget the last name. Something-stein. It was DELICIOUS. Pastrami with dill cream cheese, and shredded Brussels sprouts that had been marinated in honey and something else, on a cheese bagel. I got a root beer too. All that for twenty bucks. Al also decided to try some of their coffee. $ 22 for a sack of Colombian beans. I really hope it’s good coffee for that price. I’ll find out tomorrow morning. I think this would be way nicer on a spring or summer day when it’s not the coldest day of the year and we don’t have to take our sandwiches home to still eat them when they’re warm. But now I can see what the hype is about.

I am in love. Farrow sandwiches are to die for! Located on 109th in a tiny little shop and always full of customers, Farrow is the ultimate definition of a hidden gem. Their small menu changes every few days, always offering a new surprise for the easily bored. The Grick Middle remains a constant on the menu and it’s delicious! Tomato jam, bacon, a fried egg, and loaded with arugula… What more could you want? Prices are in the 6 – 9 dollar range, which is decent considering the size and taste of the food. As others have said, the store is teeny tiny. There are only 3 spots to sit in the store and a couple of picnic tables outside, so be prepared to take your food to go. That’s the only downside though! Food is awesome, location is awesome. Get yourself down to try right away! You’ll fall in love.

I made a quick stop to Farrow today on my way to work for a coffee and a sandwich. It’s not my first time here and it won’t be my last but I wasn’t blown away today by the Chief Wiggum sandwich. It had roast ham, pickled red onions, horse radish mayo with arugula. I found the ham a little too salty for my liking and the the pickled onions did not add to the sandwich as it tasted a little bland. The bun was light and fluffy and not dense in anyway which is how I prefer my buns. Although this sandwich did not rock my world today, previous ones have and I will be back. It’s a little shop with bar seating that seats maybe 4 people. They do have a picnic table for outdoor seating for when the weather is nice.

Finally! I was walking past during my lunch hour and there was no line out the door! I figured it was my chance to try out Farrow, which I’d been meaning to do forever. Once I ordered, my sandwich took about 10 minutes to make. Kind of lengthy on an hr lunch break, but bearable. It does take time to assemble things fresh, after all. Since the picnic tables outside were full, I opted to walk the 10 min back to work to eat. Unfortunately, by this point my sandwich was completely soggy and mostly inedible. I got a pulled pork variety with a pineapple salsa and I guess it was just too much liquid for the bun to handle. Sogginess aside, the flavours were good but not great. The meat was mediocre and contained several globs of fat, which is a huge turn off for me. Overall, I can see this place being good if you happen to go by on a day with a good sandwich(there were only 3 options and 2 weren’t appealing at all) and are able to eat outside while it’s still fresh. Personally, it’s not really my thing. But worth a try.

I’ve been meaning to go to Farrow’s sandwich for a while now, but their short hours made it a little bit tough for me. They’re open 8AM-4PM on weekdays and 9AM-4PM on weekends(closed Tuesdays). My schedule is pretty much 8 – 4 weekdays, and I’m often busy on weekends, so I took advantage of the fact that they were open on Canada Day and went there with my friend, Jamie. They’re located a little bit off Whyte Avenue and right on 109th. There’s a fair amount of street parking along 109th street, and there’s a fair bit on the adjacent streets. Like their sister restaurant, Three Boars Eatery, the menu changes here fairly frequently, except one of their signature sandwiches, the Grick Middle. The inside is pretty small, just a counter to order, and a little bar for seating. They have a picnic table outside, so if it’s a nice day, you can enjoy your sandwich outside! For $ 7.25, you can’t really go wrong with the Grick Middle. It’s bacon, tomato jam, greens, smoked cheddar, rosemary aioli all topped with a fried egg. I really like fried eggs on sandwiches and burger because it really adds an extra savourey element. I had one a little while ago at Rodeo Burger and it was amazing, so I’ve really been on this fried egg kick. The Grick Middle was really good! There was a generous amount of bacon, and it’s really nice and crunchy. The tomato jam really goes well with the rest of the sandwich, and the fried egg adds a really savourey-umami element to it all. Definitely a good sandwich choice, and I see why they keep it as a regular on their menu…

I used to be a regular and have filled up several of their loyalty punch cards, I think I’ve pulled back quite a bit and probably only find myself here about once a month. I guess I feel the price is slightly high compared to other sandwich options out there, and that adds up pretty quick if I’m grabbing them several times a week. I love how creative they get with their sandwich filling combinations, the vegan sandwich always tempts me with it’s wacky creative name and the fact that I know it won’t be around long. There have been many that I regretted missing after spotting the photo on Instagram or Facebook(and yes, I receive notifications via facebook of their posts ’cause I need to know what their current offerings are). The Grick Middle(sans bacon for me, pls, thx.) is my go-to though. Fried egg, over easy, tomato jam, rosemary aioli, arugula… mmmmmm… Watchout! this can get a little messy! So satisfying, so consistently perfect, it’s their main staple I think, you can’t go wrong. They once made the very best sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. The Jolly Molly. It was similar to The Grick Middle, but instead of bread, it was all sandwiched together between a couple of buttermilk pancakes. I still dream about this thing. I believe it was actually only available for that one day and it was quite possibly never ever brought back again. I do know that it sold out early. Sometimes that happens here, so go early… I’ve been burned a few times, showing up just a wee bit late.

Tasty! Cute little place with a hipster-ish vibe. It faces the main street, but it’s very inconspicuous. Totally reminds me of a food truck inside. There’s the breakfast sandwich(the Grick Middle) and three other sandwiches that change frequently. I had the breakfast sandwich and the slow drip Costa Rican coffee(which was REALLY good. Reminded me of the good quality coffee I’ve had in Europe). The bread was so soft and fresh! I love buns that are easy to bite into. And the Rosemary aioli sauce on the bun tasted nice and was not over-powering. It also had fresh egg, bacon and arugula. My friend had one with pulled pork and apple coleslaw and said it was one of the best he’s had. It can get pretty busy, but it’s worth the wait if you’re craving a sandwich. Not much room inside(3 stools against the window), so don’t plan on getting a seat to stay. About $ 7 per sandwich. Will be returning!

Their vegan sandwiches blow my mind. Their coffee is the bomb-diggity. I wish they were open a bit later so that i could eat here always. That is all.

Well… what does one say after paying $ 8 for a vegan sandwhich the size of one’s palm whose patty was made from cauliflower and chick peas. That’s clever? You could do that? I’ll go with«that’s good, really good!» I also had a bite of the breakfast sandwhich($ 7.25) which had this wonderful sauce. The funny thing is I can’t remember the names of any of these burgers! This tiny joint next door to Three Boars really packs a punch. However, there are maybe three or four seats inside and a picnic table outside. So when you visit, just know that likely you will be taking yours to go. I like small businesses that specialize. My rating is 3.5 stars. Round up for being a small business underdog and being a pretty cool place. Now if I only can remember the names of the sandwiches…

Farrow Sandwiches is hip(ster) and small. The entrance looks like you’re about to walk into someone’s apartment but don’t fret, once you open the door, you’ll know you’re in the right place. But seriously, the place only has three stools to sit! Soooo small but the vibe is cool and the music is bumpin’. Hip hop music? Yes, please, all day ‘errday. The music they had playing was pretty sweet, some sort of French rap/hip hop mix. There are four sandwiches to choose from that rotate on a daily basis. The only sandwich that is stable is the Grick Middle. As I just had a banh mi recently in Chinatown(helloooooo $ 4 deals at Van Loc). I thought I’d give their take on banh mi a shot and see if paying double the price tag would be worth it. — Banh mi over Baghdad($ 9) — spiced pulled pork, cucumbers, daikon and carrot slaw, hoisin and sesame mayo. Verdict — the pulled pork was pretty flavourful and tender but I didn’t get any spicyness in the meat. The sesame mayo definitely gave it a flavourful punch and obviously, you wouldn’t find that in a traditional banh mi. I didn’t like the cucumbers though — flavourless and they were cut weirdly for a banh mi. Good but I’ll stick to Chinatown. I like the concept(especially the name connection with Three Boars) but the sandwiches aren’t the biggest. It was enough to tide me over but if this had been solely my lunch, I would still have been hungry afterwards. Hashtag hangry even(just kidding). Tip — apparently they have a loyalty card so if you go lots, enquire about that!

There’s a sandwich shop that has been causing quite the buzz in the Edmonton food scene for the past few months. I’ve never been a huge sandwich person. I mean, I would happily take a hot bowl of noodle soup over a sandwich any day. But sometimes there are those days where I just crave a really good sandwich. The minds behind Three Boars Eatery are those behind Farrow, and this sandwich shop is located conveniently next door. Like Three Boars, the space is tiny and seating is limited, but in the summer the picnic tables out front are a perfect spot to enjoy your lunch and soak up some Vitamin D. When Farrow is open for business they’re serving up sandwiches and coffee to the hungry crowds from 7AM — 2PM. Being in the university area it’s great place to stop for breakfast whether you’re on your way to class or work. But for me, I popped in on a random afternoon for a quick bite as I was in the area. The menu changes often, and out of the choices available that day I went with the Grick Middle($ 7): bacon, fried egg, greens, tarragon aioli, tomato jam, smoked cheddar. I am a sucker for fried eggs in sandwiches and burgers, especially when the yolk is golden and runny. There wasn’t a big burst of flavour like I was hoping for, but the flavours in the sandwich complemented one another. The oozing egg yolk tied everything together and overall it was a good sandwich. My boyfriend went with the Chief Beef($ 8): roast beef, pickled onion, chips, arugula, horsey mayo. The sandwich was substantial and full of fixins, but what I enjoyed most was the added crunch from the chips! It really changed up the texture of the sandwich, and I’m thinking I may need to sneak a few chips into the next sandwich I make for myself. When you’re in the university area and in a bit of a rush, Farrow might be the perfect spot for you to grab lunch on the go. Most sandwiches are $ 7-$ 8 and they have options to cater to the vegan crowd too. With a wide range of sandwich combinations and their willingness to support local producers — what isn’t to love?
