To be honest, I’ve always walked past this place and just dismissed it as another westernized Canadian Chinese food restaurant until someone took me there the other day. Surprisingly, the blue orchid caters both westernized and traditional Chinese food. We ordered several dishes off of the traditional menu, all of which were good. The restaurant, itself, was also quite clean and service was quick and enjoyable. I would definitely go back to Blue Orchid for a family dinner or order take out from here on a lazy night. Additional bonus is that it’s located on Jasper and a little bit more centralized.

A bit pricy, but a very new restaurant in Edmonton providing a good dining experience. Don’t expect a quiet environment, as this place is very popular with Chinese people and the ambiance reflects it. The food is delicious though, and while you have the standard fare like fried shrimps in peach cream sauce, there are also some stunning knockout dishes like the fiery Szechuan style «water boiled» fish, which is fish poached in a deep-​red chili liquid.

Dined on Friday night and restaurant was not busy. Food was acceptable but not outstanding. Very pricey. Garlic deep fried chicken was primarily bone and way overpriced. Shrimp with peaches was also disappointing as sauce was almost invisible. Definitely not the best in town.
