Over priced menu.$ 4.00 for a bottle of pop! Same amount for salad add on as for salad. Food is bland and boring. Slow service, half an hour for two salads and a side. Washrooms filthy.

Lovely place in Dundas! If you’re craving for a burrito or any tacos, come here! Garlic wings were fantastic

Love the nacho’s, grab a table near the old windows facing the street corner. Nice spot for a pint.

Great atmosphere and great food. Staff are very friendly! There is no place quite like the Thirsty cactus.

Food was quite good. Standard road house stuff but the fish tacos are very good and the salads are fresh. The staff were friendly and food was delivered promptly. The décor is pretty tired and the washrooms are horrible and in need of renovation badly! I hate it when restaurants ignore the washrooms.

Had fajitas for 2. Both beef and chicken were tender. And waiter was quick to offer refills on condiments. Try the cactus dip! We got the dip platter and found cactus dip to be great with their tortilla chips.

Lunch and Xmas shopping downtown Dundas. Free parking in December. Waiter very cheery and helpful. Cold draft Steam Whistles. Split one bowl of Brunswick stew as an appetizer served with two crunchy pieces of garlic toast — delicious and full of flavour, pieces of pulled pork, lima beans and corn in a tomato based broth. Main we split the club sandwich served on Flatbread with fresh cut fries. Waiter served it up on two plates which was not asked for but very thoughtful and appreciated. Serving so plentiful both of us could not finish everything on our plates. Fresh chicken breast, bacon lettuce and tomatoes. Served quickly and efficiently. Very pleasant surroundings right in the heart of Dundas. Definitely be back.

Visited dundas with my family over the weekend and decided to have lunch here. Have to say super disappointed! Although the portion size is huge, the food itself is awful. The nachos were crispy but the cheese was not melted and felt like it has been cooked for a while before it was served. Mind you, it took a whole for us to get the food to begin with. Sirloin steak was bland and hard to chew on. Cactus club tasted awful, I much rather just eat a sub at subway. The only thing i mildly enjoyed was the chicken burrito, although there was too much bean and very little chicken and rice. Also, while we were eating, there were flies constantly flying over our food and the waitress was not very attentive, will not come back!

Had the antojitos which were very tasty, found a hair in mine but the waitress promptly replaced our order. I had the blue corn enchilada as my entrée. The chicken was dry, not very saucy, but had lots if cheese which was nice. Overall the meal was pretty heavy. Couldn’t get past half if it. The dukes chicken sandwich is a favorite of my spouse, he dares anyone to find a better chicken sandwich. Overall, the service is pretty good there, they didn’t charge us for the hairy antojitos, the food is rate as ok. Nothing jumps out as mind blowing, but there is a lot on the menu to choose from as well.

For the atmosphere and pulled pork, this is my regular choice. The people are what make this place awesome! I also regularly get the pulled pork and fajitas. The pork, well I can’t find another place that makes it like these guys do. The fajitas — well they’re fajitas. Tons of fun! Typical pub fair, fun atmosphere, good location. Will go again many times :)

The food here is not very good. Pre-formed burgers, lots of processed stuff. But the service and the vibe are really nice. Go for a beer, eat someplace else.

Thirsty. The thirsty cactus. In our ongoing quest to find a good Caesar in Dundas we stumbled upon this peachy gem. Caesars here involve the perfect balance of clamato and vodka, adequate garnish and extreme green beans(extremely delicious). For those of you planing on imbibing alcohol bring your ID… or facial hair. They are very thorough. Atmosphere is a combination of rustic stone and bullhorns and retro cool tin roof. If you are a hipster you will feel somewhat at home. However, your skinniest jeans are not required. Food items were not sampled, but the free nachos with fake cheese did sweeten the deal. This reviewer plans on trying the extreme beans on next visit. Pickled green beans and deep fried goodness? Yes please. Cheeky banter with waitstaff does not distract from the experience.

Anyone who thinks this place has good food really has to get out of Dundas or Hamilton area more often. Calling your food ‘tex-mex’ is no excuse why everything tastes like it was cooked with factory-made ingredients. The owner or cook needs to dine out at a Mexican or tex-mex place to understand what these dishes actually are supposed to taste and look like. I walked by the other day and noticed a sign promoting their new ‘poutine menu’. What does that have to do with tex-mex? Very strange and confused menu, bad food, okay service. I would say to only go here if you just want to drink bottles of beer because this place also makes and serves the worst Bloody Caesars I’ve ever had in a restaurant/bar. Undrinkable.

We had the chance to eat here(sorta) for lunch a short bit ago and I have to say it was the WORST service I’ve ever had… period! We sat there with a 2 year old child and didn’t get water, cutlery, chips or our food for over 45 minutes!!! STAYAWAY from this place at all costs!

Such a great restaurant! Defiantly the best Wings in all of Hamilton. I have been coming here for about 7 years. I can honestly say that I have never had one bad experience at the Thirsty Cactus! The wings are soooo amazing. Extra dusting and extra sauce, mmmmmm. There are also a wide variety of sauces for the Wings. Another reason why I love the Cactus are for it’s prices $ 9.99 per pound, and on Sundays there’re $ 4.99 per pound! Also the complementary nacho chips are great. The food is really fresh. I love the carrots and blue-cheese dip. Some other great meals are the burgers, soups or fajitas. The atmosphere is also really realistic. A south western kind of tavern. With a great restaurant is great staff. The manager Kathy is really nice and friendly. We have talk to her so many times over the years. Over all this restaurant is a great place! I recommend this place to any one of all ages!

Tex-Mex at its finest. No question. Pete and the boys(and girls) in the kitchen strike the perfect note if the lullaby you’re craving is grilled-to-perfection cowboy-sized steaks, jammed-with-flavor burritos, mile-high plates of nachos, barbeque anything(seriously, just name the protein — they’ll cue it up for you), or a variety of spicy and interesting appetizers like alligator bits or deep-fried extreme green beans. I break out into an over-indulgence-of-food sweat just thinking about the place! The front-of-house staff are equally as excellent. Friendly and spot-on quick, and I dare you to order a drink they can’t manufacture. Seriously, their bar is choc-a-bloc full of everything you could ever want. Plus, I think they have like 84,000 beers on tap(but I could be overstating that; you’d have to confirm that yourself). If you’re rolling through the Dundas area anytime after 11:30 in the morning, and you got yourself a hankering for some grub and some brew, check out Thirsty Cactus — you won’t be disappointed. Promise!

Probably my favorite Grill in the Hamilton Area, I can’t get enough of this place! Try«The Duke» if your like Chicken Sandwiches.
