Windings is not a place I’ll be going to again anytime soon, if ever. I must say when this place opened I was very interested in trying it as I love chicken wings and wanted to try this«Newfie Poutine». My brother and I came here to get some food for supper one night, maybe around 6pm. The place had maybe 3 tables with customers but I just thought«oh well maybe most people take out like we were going to do» The menu is kinda overwhelming with a huge selection of wings, alot of them sounded delicious so we decided to get two dozen wings but decided to get four different kinds of sauce/rubs so essentially six of each type of wing as well as a large Newfie Fries(Poutine). Keeping an opened mind we got home and tried the wings first. Two of the four wings we got were almost inedible. They were just not good at all(wish I could remember what they were to warn others but I think I just wanted to forget about this whole experience) one of the other two was slimy… Very sour and bitter tasting, made my tounge tingle and not in a good way(I think it was a Lemon type rub). Just grossed us out, on the other hand one of the kinds we got was really REALLY good! I think it was Chipotle Honey Glaze or something like that… Delicious. Just strange to have such inconsistencies not only in the same meal but with the same type of food. The Newfie Fries were undercooked, cold and very bland! really really really gross, We would never ever get those again. Overall it was a bad experience. I’m giving it two stars though because we did really enjoy the chipotle wings, Too bad there was only six of them for three people.

This is my favourite wing place in the city. Their menu boasts over 100 flavours and a few different ways to coat your wings. The staff is always friendly, prompt and polite. I’ve had taken out from them too many times to count and it’s always been quick. Delicious!

I dont know why but i keep coming back, thats not to say the food is bad or the staff are rude. It is quite the opposite as they put treehouse on for my son to watch and the food is good but we can all make wings at home so i always wonder why i keep coming back.

Our first trip to Wingdings and we’ve decided it’s worth another trip. The wings were pretty tasty. Next time I plan on having hot sauce instead of a smokey bbq. Our server this evening was very pleasant, talkative and helpful. She talked us into some carrot cake… excellent choice to share by the way. The wings were good, but not great. We both felt like the price was a little on the steep side, even on Wingsday night. In the end, yes we would recommend Windings and yes we will return… there are, after all 97 flavours we haven’t tried.

Update Feb/14: I’ve been back to wingdings several times since my initial review below, and am upgrading to a 3-star rating. The service has improved by leaps and bounds — we always have a pleasant experience here now. The wings seem to be hit or miss, sometimes they don’t seem to be cooked that well, other times they are awesome. We’ve gone through most of the various sauces available, only to find that most of them are not that great — I think the sheer volume of sauces is more a novelty than a real offering. When we returned to the«tried and true» sauces, the wings tasted much better. — — — — — — — — — — — — — – The wings(naked, which was described as a very light crispy coating) were great, the sauces I tried were fine(medium — nice, double-garlic… too strong for me). I would have to order an additional side of sauce for myself, as I found them too lightly sauced, the last few were pretty dry. Service was pretty awkward. Bare bones delivery of everything to the table, not enough napkins(as noted by others). I was very surprised to learn after I received the bill that refills on the watered-down fountain pop were costing me fifty cents a shot! Surprised that A) they charged refills of those small glasses of flavoured-water-pop, and B) that while we were repeatedly offered refills, we were never told there was additional charges for each one. Between that, the seriously high price for the wings, and the skimpy table service, I get the overall impression of a strong focus on cost control. I will probably go back some day, maybe they’ll work out the kinks. I did enjoy the wings quite a bit, but it will have to be a special occasion or on someone else’s dime. :)

I don’t know why I can’t love wingdings. I like them, I just don’t love them. They have more wing sauces than I have ever heard of. Service was good, speedy and engaging. I made a mistake on the wing sauce maple and ranch… Don’t. Their menu is not limited to wings. For us Newfs, they have fries, dressing and gravy. I will try them again, and will update this review with thoughts should they change.

The kinks are finally worked out at Wingdings. Okay, so their website is a little silly and resembles something I made in 1996– but who cares? The restaurant is fun and so is their food. It is a fairly small space with some booths and tables in the centre. The décor is almost cafeteria style but it is also improving. Why do they remain so busy? Because their wings are awesome. When their chef is on– he’s on. And although they had a rough start they’re back in action now. They have possibly the best chicken fingers I have had in the city. The crispy coating just melts in your mouth. They have a menu loaded with delicious fried foods including Shwings. Tender battered shrimp that you can have tossed in any one of their sauces. They are really, really good. Oh yes, a suppose there are a couple salads and wraps on the menu too. Maybe a tossed salad will make you feel better about all the grease you are eating? They have oodles and oodles of difference sauce combinations for their wings. OH– they’re licensed too. Who can have wings without beer? My first couple visits to Wingdings was super mediocre. But I waited a couple months and went back– and they were really awesome. They seem like they’re working hard to really build a nice spot here in our community.

My husband and I thought we would try this place out because we really love wings. We both ordered a pound of wings and ordered different sauces. The wings were good… nothing special. The reason for the one star… How many people could eat a pound of wings and only have one napkin? Also, we each had a glass of water. My water was half gone before the wings arrived. My water was gone long before the wings were and the waitress didn’t come over to check on us until she asked if we wanted the bill. I was slurping drops out of my water from the melting ice making lots of noise when the waitress came over to ask if we wanted the bill. She didn’t ask if I wanted more to drink, just asked about the bill. It really wasn’t busy, I think she was looking after 2 other tables. I won’t be back.

Had heard good things about this restaurant, took someone here for their b-day dinner(their choice, as they had previous good experience, there were 4 of us). Here is the breakdown of the experience: — 4 different servers, not one came to check on us until the end of the meal to see if we were ready to pay. — Requested that the wings were fully sauced, they weren’t, asked for a side of sauce so that I could cover the dry areas, was charged extra for it. — Ordered a combo plate which cost approx $ 23, it was over cooked, nacho chips were burnt, came with 4 shrimp and 4 jalapeño poppers, the poppers were hollow, showed a server at the end of the meal, she simply said«I don’t eat those», and they did not give us the sauces/dips that accompany it, when asked about that, the server said, «ya, you are supposed to get them, we will have to make sure you get them next time»… really… how about a sorry, and a slight discount or something. — This meal cost approx $ 105. It was 46 chicken wings, 2 coffees, 2 pepsi’s and a combo plate(noted above). Very unfortunate, as it is a great location, nice interior, and friendly management. Too many staff on, who are not as «checked in» as they should be. For the same type of meal go to Dolittle’s on a Wed/Thurs for half the price, and better service. Really Disappointed. ***The owner had contacted me shortly after this post was made stating that he would like to make restitution for this bad experience. I emailed him back, however, never received any response. This is also too bad, as my stepdaughter loves chicken wings, and she would probably be the best one to take and make it a better experience. ***

This review is based off of two visits. The first visit was actually pretty decent. I had an appointment with my Doctor and when I arrived, I saw that Wingdings was two doors down. My Doctor was over an hour behind so I decided to come here for a snack. The server(quite young) was very nice and attentive — she knew I was in somewhat of a time crunch and had my bill ready to go as soon as the food came out. I ordered schwings with S+S ranch dipping sauce and a small fries. The order was out in less than 10 minutes. There were 2 other tables in the restaurant at the time. The schwings were quite good, the sauce was odd though — it was bright pink, but the fries were yummy, home cut. I had no complaints really, although I found the layout to be a bit awkward, tables are super close. I should mention it was about 3pm when I dined in. The second visit is what put this review at 2 stars. I came here on a Friday night with a friend to try it again. It was about 8pm. There were maybe 3 other tables in the restaurant. When we sat down the server came over, like she was going to take our orders, and we were like can we have menus? and she responded with, oh you want menus? Umm obviously. Anyways, we ordered fries to share, each some boneless wings with sauce on the side and I ordered half order of schwings as well. The order came out and immediately I knew it would not be as good as the first visit. I also did not have utensils or napkins and since the server never checked in on us, I didn’t get any napkins until the bills came. The schwings were hard and overcooked, the boneless wings were basically chicken nuggets, and the fries seemed different as well, less cooked maybe. The only plus for me was the mesquite ranch sauce, which was quite good! Our server seemed very inexperienced and quite frankly she was not a good server… it was not busy so she had no reason not to be attentive. Also, it was a bit off putting, in my opinion, that she was wearing tight spandex leggings, instead of dark jeans or black pants or something. It is important for a new restaurant to have consistency, and unfortunately I did not see that here. I probably won’t be back — I don’t live in the area anyways, and it is a bit out of the way.

For a new business, it’s nice, new, large and open. A friend and I went for lunch on a Saturday, and it wasn’t too busy. The waitress came right over with menus and took drink orders. After pondering the over 100 types of sauces, we finally picked 4. The menu is a full selection of pub food, nachos, jalapeño poppers, etc. A note about going there and ordering just wings(at a wings place none the less), is that they only server 1 flavour(of there 100 varieties) per order. The best option here it the«combo» plate, 2 lbs(2 dozen) wings with 4 flavours, it’ll save you a couple of dollars and get you extra sauces. Order ½ lbs and 1 lbs orders will only get you one sauce each and cost you and extra dollar. When placing our orders the waitress had a table that she tapped out our order at the table from. Very nice modern high tech touch in a place you wouldn’t expect such a thing.(This is how I’d ideally expect to buy something at FutureShop, someone walking the floor to take your order on a tablet). Cudos for being hi tech just because you can. The platter came, with little flags in the wings in each corning indicating the names.(I can’t recall the sauces we choose, but it was a variety, a hot, a dark, and an exotic flavour). Every wing was CONSISTENT, and this was the best part. They were all large, with crispy breaded batter on each one. We ordered them with sauce on. On the side is also an option, but from experience at other restaurants, you get much less sauce if you order it on the side. With sauce on the wings, they came nicely coated with flavorful sauce. I’ve been to Bubbaray’s Sport’s Bar on Spring Garden Rd numerous times and their DONOTCOMPARE to WingDings. Bubbaray’s wings amount to cheap«pub wings», random sized small and not made with care. The wings at WingDings were the BESTWINGS I’ve ever had, bar none, better then Costco, box store dinners(Boston Pizza, Jack’s) or any 50% wing deal around. Will definitely be going back.

First time we’ve ordered take out for our office for lunch. Overall we were impressed with the wings, a good size and cooked just right. The sauces overall were good with one exception. We had the Jamaican Jerk and Cajun both of these were dry rubs, both were tasty but we agreed that this should be ordered on the wings not as a side as more of the flavour would stick to fresh out of the fryer wings. We also had Spicy Garlic and Jamaican Pineapple both were excellent and good choices. The only disappointment was the Maple Garlic, it was more maple then garlic. Yet when you have 100 choices for sauces they can’t all be winners. My coworker also ordered the potato skins they were well garnished and cooked well. Overall I’m impressed and will order again to try more of their flavours.

Went with 3 other people, got the ‘Shwings and Wings’ combo and the Newfie fries. It was hard to figure out the ‘combo’ because it is only $ 1 cheaper than ordering them separately, and there are no fries or anything included. When we asked the server she said it was because there are 4 sauces included with the combo, whereas you only get one per order otherwise. The server was very friendly, she didn’t know the menu yet so she was having trouble finding the sauces on her tablet so help her out with the category name and then she can find it. I have had newfie fries many times and had seen the picture on their website so I was expecting something delicious and homemade. The fries are hand-cut but it looks like everything else comes out of a can, including the thin gravy. We ordered the large and it was not enough for two people, with just one layer of fries the dish wasn’t full, nor did it resemble the picture in the least :( The wings: Very standard breaded wings, nothing more, nothing less. The shwings(shrimp) — they say that it is tiger shrimp but they are the smallest shrimp I have ever been served. The batter is the only flavor you can taste. Sauces: We got all of the sauces on the side so we could taste a variety. The sauces were a big disappointment. We asked the server if they are just mixed when ordered and she said they were, which is understandable since they have soo many sauces– but the flavors have no time to come together. As a result the mesquite ranch just tastes like ranch and the smoky maple was like watered down syrup with powder on the top(smoked spices) that were not mixed in. One ‘yummy’ bite of powder was enough for that sauce. This was the same for all of the sauces we ordered, and we had six. The Jamaican Jerk had no flavor, let alone any kick. At the end of the meal, when we brought these sauce issues up to the waitress, she tasted them(with her finger) and agreed they were not very good(the smoked maple and jerk). Take out orders– Get a menu guys, you will probably do a lot of business this way. If people can order from home and come and pick it up you won’t have people wandering in, being told there is no menu and then either leaving or hanging around the front door for infinite amounts of time waiting for their orders to be ready, which happened about 5 times while we were there. Even a photocopy of the menu would do! I understand that they are new and working out the kinks but if the sauces are their ‘claim to fame’ then it was a miss in my book because of the way they are made. It works out that the wings/shwings are about $ 1 each, and since the food is not on par to where we would usually go for wing nights, at $ 0.50 a wing, we probably will not be back.
