Pizza Delight

Pizza Delight is consistent. On Tuesdays kids eat free. Its certainly not haute cuisine but I enjoy it and I’ve never had a bad meal there. I’m not a fan of the lunch buffet, choosing rather to order from the menu. I do really like the bread grill though and probably indulge too much. I find they are usually understaffed with one server serving the entire place.

When my food arrived it was a different pizza than ordered. When the correct pizza did arrive the crust was uncooked in the middle. The establishment itself is run down.

My three PD faves:
Super donair. Who doesn’t love one of those?
Caesar salad. Pizza Delight mainstreamed the Caesar salad. Beautiful.
Panzerotti. If you like pizza, you should love the panzerotti.
The TAcoma drive location has great service, and I am always pleased with value for money. When I bring the kids with me, they love the attention they get, and the little playroom is awesome for them too.
Overall, this is a great family restaurant.

NOT Delightful. At all.
Have gone several times hoping for a change, but alas disappointment each time. I remember when they had the «grill your own bread» with fresh baked bread? Not any more, you can grill alright, but they have BAGS on grocery store bread that you can smear with oil and flavoured butter (which happened to be mislabeled).
The «buffet». Scary. Watching people waddle up time and time again to gorge on cheap pizza and what they called salad. When they brought out a freshly baked pizza there was like a scene from Gladiators. As I said… scary.
The Airmiles will tempt me no longer.

Love the taste of Pizza Delight? Feeling the pinch of a bad economy and can’t afford such a delicious treat? Well here is a way for you to make your VERY OWN Pizza Delight pie in your own home! Save the extra $ 3 they charge you to deliver !
Crust, for 15″ sized pie
You’ll need:
2 cups of enriched white flour
12 cups of lard
3 ladles of salt
15″ flat pan
3 tsp of cornmeal for colour
Combine 10 cups of lard, 2 cups of flour, and salt into bowl. Be sure to work the mixture into a smooth paste
Carefully take the remaining 2 cups of lard and thoroughly grease the pan. Get all the edges. you don’t want it to stick!
Spread the dough/​paste over the well greased pan. What you will have is an unappetizing grey pie shaped slug. Sprinkle cornmeal along crust edge to make the appearance of a fresh baked product.
Toppings:
For sauce you’ll need:
Ketchup
3 cups of white refined sugar
corn syrup
red dye #5, #6, #7, #12
glucose
6 cups of that red sauce you get with chicken balls
3 tabs of hand ground Gravol (check your local laws on medication) This will help with abating the instant nausea effect.
meat, cheese, veggies
whatever you can find in the fridge, it doesn’t matter. you can’t taste them over the ‘dough/​paste’ and ‘sauce’
smother ‘dough/​paste’ with ‘sauce’ and toppings. For an authentic Pizza Delight pie, use very few toppings and extra ‘sauce’
Bake at 4 thousand degrees kelvin to solidify ‘dough/​paste’
Serve hot.
Burn all available skin off the interior of mouth
Heave, wretch after each bite.
Repeat. Enjoy.

Pizza Delight has been around for sometime and does have its dedicated followers. But for some reason I am not one of them. To me crust is what makes the pizza and sauce and these are not two things that I can say I enjoy about Pizza Delight. No matter what your order it seems that the sauce does not change for each item.
What I can say a is that the service is great and the atmosphere is comfortable and clean.

It isn’t fine dinning, it’s pizza, but I now live in England where there is no Pizza Delight and I am having to learn to make do with Domino’s.
What is it about Pizza Delight I miss? The pizza sauce! I always order extra sauce as a topping, it is just that good.
I normally do takeaway but the Tacoma location restaurant is pleasant enough if you want to eat in. If you want healthy the do salads as a meal, and they do a mean Ceaser Salad.
