Umm Hard to rate! I mean I dont like Chinese buffet, but they offer really good dinner if you order it in special. Spicy fish, pork feet, fried clams, spicy and sour Chinese Cabbage! All of them are amazing! Authentic Chinese food!

I thought this was pretty darn good. Wide selection, reasonable price, and quite tasty. Staff was very nice and helpful. My only complaint would be that the food could be a tad warmer. Other than that, no issues. I’ll be back.

It’s cheap and a buffet but wow is it gross(even moreso than your average buffet eatery). Honestly travel to Halifax for buffet style eating.

I had the pleasure of trying this place at my works Christmas Luncheon, all thorugh it’s not the best, it is quite good. The variety of food and they attention of the staff was great, the owner Vincent Wong is a very polite man and very attentive, and same with the staff. The selection was decent, but wide. I will most certainatly be back with a date or group!

The food in great! Best Chinese food in Halifax! The only problem is the staff, they didn’t ask how we are doing, making sure everything ok, they didn’t even ask if we wanted refills.

I would have given this place a one star but that’s because I have tried so many different variations of great chinese/asian food. Panda buffet is by far the most mediocre of them all. The food is tasteless– lacking flavour and greasy and of very low quality. However I decided to give the additional one star– is because of location. Halifax does not have the biggest selection of Chinese restaurants and being from Toronto, I guess its fair if I lower my standards and understand the geography of where I am. However– my actual vote would be a 1 star as chinese is one of my favourite style of dishes.

good variety of food to choose from, sushi is not the best, general tao chicken is a must have

pretty mediocre food with some alright dim sum options. I didn’t try the sushi as most of it looked picked through and wasn’t labeled well when I was there. Lots of different options by none of them made me want to fill up another plate after trying them. would go back if craving buffet style chinese food.

This buffet, while not as perfect as say, the Mandarin buffet chain in Ontario, is 10 times better than the dragon king buffet in Halifax. The food is fresh and good quality. Good variety and tasty. If you’re in the mood for Chinese, they have a $ 10 lunch special. Great price for a lunch buffet. Very nice manager, nice guy.

Awesome service and very nice food! I came here with my friends after 8pm, it is less than 1 hour to the close time. We are afraid they have finished service and we cannot eat in there today. The manager told us some dishes are gone but they will cook more food for us, please just wait 10 minutes. When we eating foods, the waiter asks us do we still need more food, if so, they can cook more for us in many times. Finally, we finished our dishes at 9:20pm, it is 20 minutes behind their close time. The manager stays in there and providing service to us all the time and gives us discount in the end. Food quality is worth the price. I come from China and I have tried every Chinese restaurant in Downtown Halifax. Panda Buffet provides North America style Chinese food. The food quality is higher than average level of the other Chinese restaurant. It will be one of my recommend Asian restaurant.

Went tonight because we had received a coupon as a gift(I assume it was from groupon or something similar) it was very mediocre food. When we got in I showed the coupon to the woman who sat us and she said«Yeah just show it to them when you pay» .unfortunately we didn’t read the fine print and the coupon is only good for monday-thursday. And today is Friday. I wish she had of told us that because there is No way I would have paid to eat there.

This is a typical American-style Chinese Buffet restaurant, which is uncommon in Halifax! It’s comparable in quality to the normal take-out chinese places. Pros: –Great Décor –Very well priced –Sushi is surprisingly decent(though not great) –The manager, Vincent Wong, is always friendly and attentive Cons: –Most of the staff speak very poor English –The desserts are awful,(but that is true of every Chinese Buffet, isn’t it?) Neutral –Large variety of food, including hot dogs, fries, spring rolls, etc. Some of it is good, but of course some aren’t great. It’s the tradeoff for variety. –It’s unbelievably busy during Dim SUm on the weekend. Personally I would avoid coming here during those times.

The food is what you would expect to find in a Chinese buffet with good variety. I mostly enjoy the good service there. Extremely friendly manager! Highly recommended.

My friends and I popped in here before seeing a movie on Friday. I’m not usually much for Chinese Buffet, but this place might well have sold me on it. I had eaten some pizza an hour before coming into the place, and I thought it would be embarrassing if my friends ate and I didn’t, but the place smelled quite inviting when I came inside, and my appetite was quite whetted. The selection of food is quite varied, with many types of noodles, rice, meats and other dishes, as well as a dessert buffet. For my main course, I had beef and broccoli over rice, butter mushrooms, some California Roll sushi, and a couple of steam dumplings. The B&B could have used a little more beef, but the meal was overall a hit. I probably could have gone up for more, but again, I had some pizza earlier. Dessert was ambrosial, particularly the strawberry cream slice. You’ll think you died and went to some kind of strawberry-flavoured heaven. Their dessert bar isn’t particularly varied(neither is their sushi bar, come to think of it), but what’s there, they make the most of it. The waitstaff were quite attentive, whisking away our used dishes and offering refills whenever they were needed, considering the place was half-to-three-quarters full at 2PM. The décor is pretty typical Chinese restaurant sort of thing, with weird classical music playing throughout, but it’s spacious and accommodating. Overall, for as much excellent food as you could eat, and dessert on top of that, this is certainly well-worth the $ 11.49 you’d pay for the lunch buffet. I will definitely have to come back again, maybe try the supper buffet as well. Tremendous!

I recently went to Panda Buffet with family for lunch on a Saturday. The place was packed, which I would normally take as a good sign. All four of us went for the buffet. It’s nothing that exciting — cold salads, typical Chinese-Canadian side dishes, and a sad looking dessert bar(let’s face it — the dessert bar is really mostly for the kids right? I mean, what adult eats Jello at a restaurant?). There is a lot of selection, so if you have some picky eaters I’m sure they could find something they liked. I picked a few things from the buffet to try, but wasn’t overly impressed. The spring rolls and fried rice were ok, mostly everything else was barely lukewarm and not so fresh. Most of the meat dishes were sitting in a lot of oil. The chow mein was pretty much only bean sprouts, no big chunks of chicken or veggies. Our server only came over at the beginning, and never checked to see if anyone needed refills on drinks. Two of my dining companions were happy — both really wanted a buffet so they could get a taste of everything. I don’t really prefer this. Hubby and I were disappointed with the quality of the food. Overall, I think they could do better. Having fewer dishes could probably improve the quality.

My partner and I have been to the Panda Buffet twice(once with a Groupon) and have left feeling pretty satisfied. I am normally not a huge fan of buffet-style dining, but it can prove to be suitable on certain occasions. Pros: — This place is kept quite clean, which is always a good thing. — Lots of space in the dining areas. — Decent service. — Some dishes, such as the BBQ pork spare ribs, pumpkin cakes, vegetarian noodles, chicken satay(I think), and selection of ice cream is rather good — I went back for seconds! — Reasonable value for the amount paid. Cons: — Variety can be lacking. — Some of the dessert squares had obviously been out for too long and were starting to get dried out. — Quality varies — some dishes, as mentioned above, are delicious, but others are pretty bland. We have visited twice and still have one more Groupon to use, so I think it is safe to say that we will be returning. If you are looking for quality over quantity, however, I suggest that you look elsewhere.

I’m not a big fan of buffets but prefer them for Chinese food. That’s because when we go out for Chinese food I like a variety of things and even if we only order 4 dishes off the menu it’s generally over $ 40 and we end up taking enough leftovers home for at least two more meals. Panda Buffet has about the largest variety of food I’ve ever seen. There’s something for just about everyone. Gives you an opportunity to try some things you might not order off a menu just in case you’re not a fan. This would be a good spot for groups of people who had very different food likes as the majority should be able to find something and the price is right. The restaurant is fairly large, very clean and seems well maintained. There’s not a great deal of staff on but then it’s mostly serve yoursef other than drinks. Staff was friendly and helpful. All the trays had varying amounts of food, I suppose there are some items that are less popular then others so you wouldn’t want huge amounts sitting in in the steamer trays for a long time. I think most were replensihed pretty quickly Others have listed most of the food available, I liked everything I tried and will have to go back to try some things I didn’t have room for.

I am always a bit nervous trying a new place when there are mixed reviews, but after purchasing one of those daily deal coupons for this place, it was time to give it a try! There is a large selection of foods to try — I will admit that I couldn’t try it all. I did not try anything on the salad table, sushi table, and only attempted 2 items from the last table(the one with baked fish, cheese mushrooms, etc). I wanted to try more — I just couldn’t! What I did try and like was — ginger beef, spicy shrimp, spicy chicken and vegetables, chicken balls, egg rolls, cantonese noodles, black bean beef. What I tried and was good but not fantastic was steamed vegetables(could have been a little more steamed), spring rolls(filling was almost all cabbage), scallops(my husband liked these and went back for seconds… it just wasn’t for me), sweet and sour pork(again, just wasn’t my thing — my husband went back for seconds on this as well, I believe). My regrets for not trying were steamed bun, baked salmon, fried fish, mushrooms with cheese, sushi, fried rice, sweet and sour soup, and much more. The staff were very friendly. Our drinks were late getting to the table, but there were only 2 staff working the entire restaurant floor so understandable that a couple drinks got misplaced. I will be back again. It has something for everyone, friendly staff, clean surroundings, good food, small dessert area. I have to try some of the things I just couldn’t get to. The price is right and I really liked the team working. I am glad I finally tried it!
