Pretty great shop, super friendly staff and lots of stuff to splurge on.

I only tend to get here during free comic book day but its a great store. Lots of geeky options. They specialize mostly in comic books as the name suggests but so offer some other nerdy merchandise too. The staff is very nice and helpful.

Due to Location, I can not get there often, but when I am over in Dartmouth, it is a great store. So full of Geek and Nerdy Stuff. I hope they have a long run, keep on rocking.

I 100% love this store. I usually bought stuff from them during Hal-Con as they have Japanese toys which I love as I’m a giant Super Sentai & Kamen Rider nerd as well as anything else nerdy. The place is a good size & prices are really good, the workers there were really helpful the minute we walked and I love that they make a personal connection with you right away. The best part of the whole experience was what they had on for music/entertainment as it was one of my favorite as kid. It was… Super Human Samurai Cyber Squad!!! Planning my next trip here for sure!!!

It’s not that it’s a bad spot. it really isn’t. It’s got what I like… but it doesn’t pass every test as nicely… Customer Service: 4⁄5 The guy behind the counter was nice enough, for sure. However, it took about 10 minutes for him to ask if I needed help, as I was browsing for 10 minutes, because he’d been chatting with the regular at the counter the entire time. It’s good to get that familiarity with customers, especially with regulars, but not at the expense of the other customers. Products: 2⁄5 It had the type of things you’d expect a comic book store to have, the comics, toys, games, etc. But it was just so small! Not a huge selection, and my favorite stuff(graphic novels) were not in huge supply, so they didn’t really cover my bases there. Price: 2⁄5 The prices were average. Nothing wrong with that really, but nothing great about them either. Some kind of specialty sale goes a long way in this expensive hobby… Atmosphere/Location: 1⁄5 This is what really drug it down. It took me forever to find it, because it’s tucked into a strip mall in the back of Portland street where I didn’t expect to find it. Plus, it’s super out of the way, which isn’t fun either. Inside it was fine, but nothing spectacular either. All around, it’s not fantastic. It can do the trick if you live nearby and have no other options, but unfortunately that’s about it.

Being someone who is addicted to a game called Magic, GRC as it’s commonly referred to has been my all time favourite store for buying all things magic. I’ve even invested a few dollars in some of the many comic books too. They also have a huge selection of toys and some warhammer and other nerdy stuff too(Belt Buckles, mugs, posters etc). Defiantly stop by sometime if you haven’t already and enjoy all things geeky.

Daryl and the crew at GRC are absolutely wonderful. I have been a long-time nerd, geek, and gamer, but was totally new to reading comics. They were awesome at explaining the difference sizes for comic boards and sleeves corresponding to their era, and even giving recommendations on what I might like based on other hobbies/TV shows. It’s easy to strike up a conversation about anything(not just comics) with the store’s crew, and often a ‘quick in-and-out’ trip to pick up new comics tends to lengthen with enjoyable company. I notice a lot of people mentioning and focusing on the size of the store. It is a smaller shop, yes, but no smaller than the average size of a specialty shop of this type(Gaming/comic)…I know as I have been to enough of them over the three provinces I have lived in to know. It does get crowded on Magic: The Gathering, Warhammer, or other tabletop gaming nights, but I think the fact a dozen or more people come into those close quarters speaks volumes about the atmosphere of the place itself. They want to be there and enjoy it, even if it is crowded. The small size makes it appear to sometimes have limited variety, but don’t let that fool you. The guys will be more than happy to check the back or order it in. That’s what they did for the illusive Yoshi plushie for a friend’s birthday gift that led me to their door in the first place.

First off, I love that this place is about a three-minute drive from my house. Why? Well, those of you who end up shaking up with a geek(who managed to hide it very well during the crucial first dating months) will understand. Let’s just say there’s nothing a bobblehead Transformer can’t fix… Giant Robot Comics is far from a giant store. In fact, it’s pretty wee and really narrow with racks running down the center and all other product displayed on the walls. When I was in, there was a tournament of some sort happening on tables covering the back half, and the main cash counter took up the front half, making it reeeeaaally hard to try to see the merchandise from a distance and damn near impossible to shuffle your way close enough for further inspection. As for what they’ve got, a solid half of the store is dedicated to comics which is a definite plus for anyone looking for ‘em. I was actually really surprised by how many there were and they were all really nicely displayed for easy viewing. The action figures, toys, board games, and pretty much everything else was on the opposite wall — less than some other stores, but again, this really felt like a comic destination which they do really well. While it wasn’t an easy shopping experience for me, the staff definitely turned things around. Thanks to their friendly and helpful attitude, not to mention a killer sense of humour, I’m definitely teetering between a three and four-star rating. Will Giant Robot get the coveted four-star in their clutches, unlocking unlimited Unilocaly power? Tune in next time for the exciting conclusion of this review.

I love this store! The first time I went in I spent a half hour just chatting. The store is pretty small but they are clean and well lit. It has a very welcoming and warm atmosphere. At this point the store is still pretty new so they only have a small selection and barely any manga, but I can’t wait to see these guys grow.
