#davidsbridalshopofhorrors. My friend/work colleague bought her dress here last summer when the store opened. Lovely experience with her mom and sister. Dress came in early, so fitting set for April. Dress had been ordered 2 sizes too large, and undergarments were 1 and 2/sizes too big. Final sale of course on those. The dress was pinned and marked, and was to be ready on July 10,/appointment set by the seamstress, Oksana. When we went to pick up her dress, she was handed the bag. WE insisted she try it on, her photographer was with is so her family in Quebec could share in the excitement of this day. No one helped her into the dress, and when she came out to show us we were speechless. The front had a huge black thread between the layers of the bodice. The dress had not seen a steamer. There were random bottoms sewn NEAR the waistline, a clump across her butt that was to be a bustle, and after playing with the fit a bit we realized the bodice did not meet evenly in the back– it was off by over an inch. There were tears in the lace overlay. The number of buttons in the back did not match the buttonholes, and the dress was unwearable. Of course, Oksana was not there that day. We arranged to return the next morning to see what could be done to salvage the dress. We were kept waiting almost 30 minutes, then Oksana attacked the bride, insinuating there was nothing wrong with the dress, that she was unreasonable. The alterations had been prepaid, $ 500. This was not a professional alterations job. We pointed out the glaring problems, and let it be known that we had experience with tailoring, that the work on this dress would not pass the grade 7 class we taught. Several hours ripping, pinning, tucking and marking later, bride was told she would have a call on Tuesday to set a final fitting appointment. That call didn’t come, so we returned Wednesday. By accident the manager spoke to us, after waiting again for Oksana to come out, she had been called several times at this point. We started to explain our problem, she worked us away to sit and chat, with promises to make it all right for the bride, both in workmanship and financially. She did not seem surprised by our story. We then got several excuses and delays from Oksana, and we returned later that day to be fitted. Only the zipper had been worked on, and it still wasn’t right. Our bride was leaving for Quebec, without her dress. Another appointment was set, again by Oksana the seamstress, for the Friday evening, so she could make it right. She had many excuses and was very rude throughout the process, while continuously telling Nic she would make it all beautiful for her. Again, we returned to the store at the scheduled time. Again, excuses from the poor girls on the«welcome» desk. 45min later Morgan appeared. She took us back, told us the dress was still damp from steaming, but would help with under layers while it dried. She did the final fitting, explaining all the things she had done to make it wearable. With a few little tacks and stitches, the dress was ready to go. Oksana had worked her hours, and had left for vacation, and the manager was not on duty, and had not left any suggestion that the assistant might want to check on us. This was the most unprofessional salon I have ever been in. Management only spoke to people spending money, not those looking for help. The alterations policy is pay in full before work is done. Our bride was overcharged for buttons, almost $ 75, and the dress was unwearable when given to her as finished. The seamstress was not willing to take ownership of her work. Management did not follow up as promised. Nic went into the store yesterday finally, and she was refunded the cost of 6 buttons. Nothing else, not even am apology. DONOT allow this store to take your money for alterations. Go anywhere else. The cost will be significantly less, and the work should be acceptable. Brides buy a beautiful dress to feel special on their wedding day. Having a dress destroyed like this was would not make for a happy bride, and should not happen. 1 star is generous– given because Morgan, who did try to make it right, went out of her at to make our bride feel like someone cared about her dress.

I recently had my first David’s Bridal experience when we were shopping for a wedding dress for my sister. Our consultant, Hannah, was amazing! Personable, knowledgeable, a great judge of size and style and seemed to know the dresses in the store by heart. She pulled some amazing dresses for my sister and listened to her — and to us — and was able to make recommendations and without hesitation would pull a new dress for her to try, based on our feedback. The most surprising thing about Hannah — she’s only 18! David’s Bridal will do well by keeping this wonderfully knowledgeable sales associate on staff for as long as possible! My sister did find a dress… and I know that in the future, if I or someone I know is dress hunting, I will be recommending they book at David’s Bridal and that they book with Hannah. They will be in great hands with her!

With such a large store, and with it being so recently opened I expected a lot more in terms of stock, quality and employee knowledge. My consultant did not seem to understand what I was looking for even though I showed her numerous pictures of what I was trying to find. The changing area is incredibly cramped with no space for viewing the dress once it is on. You are basically standing on top of other brides and their families. The quality, or lack there of, was SHOCKING to say the least. I understand minimalism, but you can still achieve that with fabric that does not chaff and looks cheap. They do however, carry a wide range of sizes and I was able to try on dresses that would have been close to my true size(size 0). The problem was just lack of quality and lack of style. I will never even bother looking at David’s for anything again.
