Good upscale pub grub. Amazing view. Good service. The lighting is difficult, don’t know if it is the glare but it can be hard to see in there.

Had a great experience with Grama here last week when we were in Comox valley. Accommodated all of our special needs. Service was excellent.

Best service. Happy staff I find it is busy all the time. So that speaks for itself. My favorite is the mussels. Lovely light coconut curry flavor. Can’t get enough. The soup of the day is always fantastic. The view is the best love the patio.

Read the reviews and thought we would give it a try, was not disappointed. Halibut & chip were great and the Angel apple spice was also great. Went there again the next night. Had steak sandwich, my wife had pasta. Both were very tasty. Service was very good both nights. Food came out very fast. Definitely will come again next time in Comox area.

This place refused to serve us because we had our child with us and we were told that although they serve food it is up to the ‘owner’s discretion’ to allow children. Age discrimination is a still a form of discrimination. Ridiculous that a family can’t eat in an establishment that serves food because they also serve beer? What year is it?

While the food was fine, even quite fresh and tasty, the length of time required to prepare a couple of simple wraps seemed very long. Thankfully the views offered respite from the long wait.

I had the special seafood Ceasar salad & it had the most mushy, overcooked, tasteless salmon & some other unrecognized fish I have ever experienced! I say experienced because I cannot say I have ever tasted because the all of the fish was TASTELESS!!! Thank god the wine was good. The crowd noise overwhelmed the very loud, for a «restaurant», rock music. It truly is a PUB and cannot be called a restaurant by any means.

Food was ok. Service was deplorable. if the bartender paid half the attention she did to her customers as her tattoos… then we might have had a decent experience. One of the worst service experiences ever.

Thought I would keep it light tonight, so I ordered seafood chowder and a steak salad. Seafood chowder was a glorified cream of mushroom soup with three pieces of fish and tone of mushrooms! It had no flavour and was all creamy broth. The steak sandwich was served with perfectly cooked asparagus and a tougher than usual medium rare steak. The wine was terrible but this is my fault, I should have sent it back and tasted it first. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with quality of food. Ambiance and server were exceptional. I was just let down by the food, which is why I came here. Too bad… I won’t be back.

Not So Happy Birthday… My husband usually takes me to the Kingfisher on my birthday, and it’s always lovely, but we’re vegetarians and often end up spending a fortune and not having much of a selection in terms of food. This year, I wanted to go someplace with a wider selection of vegetarian items and friends suggested the Blackfin Pub. My husband had been there with friends and agreed that it was a lovely spot. I was very much looking forward to the evening because we stay at a small cabin for several months in the summer and rarely get out for dinner, so my birthday dinner was something we were both looking forward to. We arrived at the Blackfin and were impressed with the lovely location and the ambiance of the place. There was a line up and were were told we’d have to wait fifteen minutes(which ended up being thirty), but we didn’t mind because the view was nice and the incredibly efficient bartender was entertaining to watch. We were eventually seated in a lovely spot by the window and served by a charming server. Our plan was to have a drink and share an appetizer, then order dinner and a bottle of wine. We ordered drinks and the Mediterranean spreads to share. Our drinks arrived promptly and the server seemed to want to take our dinner orders once she’d put the drinks down, so we gave her our orders. Then we waited… and waited… and waited for the appetizer. I mentioned to my husband that the appetizer was taking rather long, and he said when he’d been there previously the food did take very long. We were enjoying our conversation, so we continued to wait. The server asked if we wanted another drink, and we assumed our appetizer was coming right up, so we ordered another to enjoy with the appetizer when it finally arrived… but, again, we waited and waited and waited. As we were midway through our second drink, our dinners arrived. I asked what happened to our appetizers, and the server indicated that she had forgotten we ordered them. She asked if she should take the dinners back and bring us the appetizers, but we were both so hungry by this point that we said it was okay. We didn’t order wine because we still had half our drinks, but even when we’d finished them, the server never came by to ask if we wanted something else to drink. The food was rather inconsistent. My husband’s veggie burger was good and his fries were to die for. I had the vegetarian panini, which sounded delicious from the menu description, but was absolutely tasteless. I kept opening it up to sprinkle more salt and pepper on it, but it remained tasteless. The soup, however, was AMAZING – a tomato, red pepper, curry, chickpea. It was the best restaurant soup I’ve ever tasted in fact. We were both so looking forward to a lovely evening with drinks and appetizers, followed by a luxurious dinner with a nice bottle of wine. But we ended up being so disappointed.

A BADEXPERIENCE. We were very disappointed. We ate here a couple of years ago and had a good experience, but this time both our meals were bad. My wife had bacon wrapped scallops. We had to send them back because they were so over cooked. They did them over and they weren’t overcooked the second time, but they were not very good. I suspect they were a manufactured food service item and not something they make in the restaurant. I had the Capellini Pasta with Halibut. The Halibut was good, but the pasta was awful. It was terribly salty, and I like salt. I don’t mean just a little too salty, it was awful. We won’t be back.

The first place we eat when we get to the island. Love the chowder and the patio. Best view on earth :)

First time here. It was awesome! Not that we had much to compare to. This pub was recommended by our hotel and we were so happy to find it! Firstly, the waitress was prompt, polite and well groomed. Secondly, the food was prompt, and delicious! We had yam fries, calamari and baked Brie to start. All three were excellent. For the main dish I had the steak salad, I ordered rare because very often steak is over done and I found this to be true here. It came as more a medium. Husband had the lamb shank — falling off the bone tender and just as delicious. Overall ambiance was nice and quiet even though the pub was ¾ full. Also very clean. A very well deserved 5 stars. Well done guys!

One of my favourite spots in town but second guessin when feeling like fish and chips. They use a great dill batter and tartar sauce but last three times I tried it, the fish was so greasy that my fried were soggy in a puddle. I couldn’t finish it because of the oil. I don’t know how they keep cooking it like that. Nasty. Other than that I like their food and atmosphere.

Slow start but a nice recovery shot. The waitress was excellent. Very friendly with great advice on the menu. I asked about having the football game on the TV And the bartender even came down to give e score updates! The food was excellent. The halibut was cooked to perfection and the chips were perfect. The cod though was a bit dry and almost tough. Lovely batter just too chewy Good value for the money. Sorry it was dark so I missed the great view. Next time!

Spectacular view and delicously fresh food. While visiting Comox, friends took us to this restaurant. I love eating so close to the ocean, everything is so fresh. If the weather is nice, I would recommend sitting out on the patio. It seemed like a very casual atmosphere. We sat at the bar while waiting for a table outside to open up. It was a nice way to get a feel for the place. I had the pacific cod and chips. The order was sent to me wrong, it had a house salad instead of fries, but I decided to eat it that way anyway. The salad was fresh and crisp. I tried the fries off my boyfriend’s plate. They were crisp without being over done and too crunchy. The fish was cooked perfectly, I often worry it will be too dry or the batter will not be cooked through, but I have no complaints. Maybe I will be able to venture that way again.

We were looking for a late dinner and were told that the Blackfin had excellent food. It sure does! We started with seafood cakes that were crispy and delicious. I had a veal schnitzel with garlic mashed potatoes that were wonderfully buttery. The schnitzel was crispy and tender, and the gravy was succulent. My wife had a chicken enchilada that had a sauce reminiscent of a marinara. Very nice! We finished with a decadent slice of cheesecake covered in a berry compote that was to die for. Fantastic!
