Romi Sidhu – State Farm Insurance Agent

I’ve been with State Farm since I was 16. My previous agent back in Ontario was fantastic. He always took the time to explain things and give options and was quite knowledgeable.
I moved to Calgary a few years ago and randomly selected a State Farm location online. About a year after I moved here, that agent retired and I was «assigned» to this agent. It didnt seem like a big deal at the time as you don’t think about your insurance until you really need it.
Recently I was involved in a car accident-​my first. I called this agent and left a message explaining what had happened. It took him 3 days to get back to me. When he did, he didn’t ask me how I was doing, didn’t introduce himself or anything that would give me the indication he cared about my business. He recited a claim number, gave a phone number (which was for fire not car insurance) and then hung up before I could ask anything. It was strangely abrupt.
When I called the claims number and spoke to someone there, there was a lot of confusion. In setting up the claim initially, this agent had spelled my first name as «Pic”-nothing close to Lauren which had everyone I spoke to baffled.
Accidents are stressful enough especially when you are a rookie — you should be getting help from your agent not incorrect/​no information. While the State Farm organization as a whole has always been fair and good to me, I really have no use for this agent and will be looking for another one.
Update: After I posted this I attempted to look for another agent online. I guess when that agent received my request they let the Mr Sidhu’s office know I had a concern. They had no explanation for what happened but took full responsibility and acknowledged how it wasn’t normally how it should be. They have asked for a second chance to make a better first impression. For that I’ll bump them up a star but the jury is still out!
