I went to New Expression for a manicure and pedicure and… it sucked! I’ve been to 5 bazillion nail salons all over this continent and this ranks as one of the worst. I asked for a basic manicure with shellac polish and the gentleman who performed the service hurried through it as quickly as he could, left my cuticles looking as bad or worse as when I arrived, and applied the polish poorly(I had to stop him before he applied the top coat to ask for a 3rd coat of polish, as he was applying it so thinly that it was a patchy mess), letting it ooze onto my cuticles and fingers. I also had to ask him to go back and file several of my nails again so that they were straight and even. The pedicure was pleasant(this was done by a female staff member) but, again, the results were terrible. My cuticles are still ragged and uneven, my heels look exactly the same as when I walked in and the nail polish looks like I applied it with my left hand. Blindfolded. If I had more time, I would have asked them to re-do the polish but, alas, not this time. Or any other time, for that matter, ‘cuz there’s no way I’m going back.

A great pedicure! The staff are very friendly and experienced. They don’t have a wide variety of polish colours, but they do have a a lot of shellac/gel colours. The price is comparable to other salons in the area, but the friendly staff make it worth it! Parking is free for 2 hours, but make sure to get a ticket from the machine and display it on your dashboard.

I had a full set of gel nails and a French tip pedicure, cost me $ 110.00. It looked awesome! However, within three hours I had broken off my first nail(hit my hand against the steering wheel, not very hard) and every day since then I would see chips and nicks and little cracks down the nails and my toes. Super disappointed! I am a tourist so I did not get the opportunity to go back, wish I had of kept my money. Also, I did ask the gentleman who was doing the service to clean the objects he was using. He seemed surprised by this but he did it without complaint which was nice. The leg/foot massage was awesome! Wish I could say that about everything!

I’ve been here 3 times & have been more than pleased with the service. It is difficult to find a great French manicure/pedicure, but they’ve got it down. Comfortable chairs, pleasant staff, good prices & excellent results. I’ve never had to wait. Thumbs up!!!

I have been looking for a good place to get a pedicure in Calgary for a very long time. Based on the previous reviews I thought I would try New Expression Nails and Spa. I called made an appointment. I was nicely impressed. The prices are very reasonable and the service was very good. The facilities seemed very clean and there was a pleasant atmosphere to the place(no blaring TV and they have comfortable massage chairs). The staff were exceedingly friendly and seemed to knew their regular customers by name which I liked. It was busy as well which is also a good sign and many regular customers. I had some slight discolouration on my of my nails and the lady said it was because I wear dark polish for too long and need to give my nails a break. She selected a pretty translucent pink for my nails to help prevent the problem from getting any worse. A very pleasant experience and I thought I had found the perfect place to get my nails done in Calgary. Alas, when I got back to my car I found that I had a $ 40 parking ticket. A ticket is required to park in the plaza parking lot(which I did not know) — beware, there are not many signs letting you know that you need to have a ticket to park your car in this strip mall’s parking lot. WestPark(the company that manages the parking lot) were exceedingly rude and unprofessional and it took nearly two weeks to resolve(after 10 days the parking ticket increased to $ 60). I tried to make a formal complaint about the lack of signs but I don’t think I was successful. So unfortunately, I will not be back to New Expressions … the service and the pedicure were great … the parking situation … absolutely horrible!

Desperately needed a pedicure, but was short on cash, so I scoped the area for affordable nail salons and this came up. I went in wanting a pedicure only, but when I heard that a mani+pedi is just $ 45, I decided to get both. Its a typical salon with lots of nice asian ladies doing a pretty good job. My esthetician kept talking to me the whole way through, and was nice enough. My toes looked pretty at the end of it, and so did my fingernails. I mean, for $ 45, you really can’t go wrong. Its conveniently located, there is plenty of parking, and you dont need an appointment. They graciously welcome walk-ins, which is great for me because I am notoriously bad at making appointments more than a day in advance. I would definitely be back.

For my regular pedicure I thought I would check out New Expression. I called and booked an appointment with no trouble. When I arrived there were only two women working and they were busy with a client each. They greeted me and the one woman asked how they can help. I told them I had an appointment booked at 12 for a pedicure. The woman seemed surprised and got up to check the book. She asked me to pick my polish, they had a decent selection, but it wasn’t as big as other places I have been to. I waited about 10 minutes, picking out magazines to read, before they asked me to sit in one of their pedicure chairs. I sat there for another 15 minutes, while the other ladies got their pedicures done. My foot bath got cold. When it was mine turn, I asked the woman to warm up the water for me, which wasn’t a problem. She wore gloves, which is always a good thing to me. She was very thorough with clipping the cuticles and managed not to cut me like so many others do! She rubbed in the scrub a bit hard. The foot massage she gave me was short and not that great, which was disappointing. She was very good at applying the polish though! She asked if I would like a design on my big toe, for an extra $ 5, I said no since I won’t be showing them off much. I asked her how long she has been doing this for and she said not that long, only 20 years! When I was drying a couple ladies came in and asked if they could get fills, of course they wouldn’t say no! So that was where my service seemed to end. The pedicure cost $ 35. I ended up being late for my next appointment near by. I was happy with the end result and the women working here were very nice! I would go back to New Expression Nails, as long as I’m not in a hurry.
