I stopped in here for the first time today after remembering that the fridge would sadly be lacking milk, which would impact my ability to fully enjoy my coffee. As mentioned in the other reviews I wouldn’t stop on here to fill my full grocery list, but the few things I did grab were entirely reasonable. A 1L milk was $ 2, avocados were $ 1.50 each, a broccoli head was $ 1.30 and the red onion was 70 cents. The store was clean and well-lit, and open from 9am — 9:50pm daily. I was even greeted on arrival by a cheerful Asian girl, who also double bagged my groceries(yes, sorry I forgot my own bag!). Super handy for anyone living nearby that just needs a few things without having to trek to one of the supermarkets!

Being the closest market near my work, I like to stop by here from time to time, especially to get a quick iced tea or whatever and not pay convenience store rates. It feels like a small town store, with little bits of here and there, but they also charge some pretty reasonable prices on their specials. They also carry a fair amount of quick grab cookies, cakes and the such… perfect for a snack.

I don’t normally shop here, usually just grab a few things when I’m at that end of town. Prices are a bit high, but your paying for convenience. They do put on some good sales though, so if you pay attention to their flyer’s, you might be able to get a better deal than at Safeway or Coop. They also sell alot of Safeway product, don’t know if they have a deal with them or not, but regardless, your not always stuck getting brands you have never heard of. They don’t have a huge section of fresh products or anything but they do have it, so its nice if your lazy and want a home cooked meal, your able to find something to make at a reasonable price.

This is a store of convenience. They are stocked with pretty much everything to suit your immediate needs, even things like produce. However, the premium is quite hefty. Think $ 5 for a carton of orange juice or $ 11+ dollars for Tide laundry detergent. However, the occasional good price does come along. I bought a 1.47L of Gain laundry detergent for $ 5. If I am desperate or lazy I come hear for a few essentials. Good to visit once every so often to see what might be on special, just wouldn’t frequent the place. It could damage your bank account!

*Hand raised* Sometimes, I am that person who’s too lazy to head to Coop or Safeway. 10 blocks is a long way in the cold, and with LP so close, I get to be nice to the environment and leave my car in the garage! Another bonus, I certainly don’t have a hard time finding anything-the grocery store is only four aisles wide! When I walk inside, I feel like I’m back in my small town grocery store. They carry a little bit of everything, but not a lot of each thing. While in the baking section, I was surprised to see Safeway Select chocolate chips in stock. Makes me wonder if maybe this isn’t an offshoot of Safeway in some way? Like Fields is to the Bay. Anyway, not the spot for your big grocery purchases, but when you need a few supplies and it’s cold out, or you’re in a hurry, LP will do just fine.

This is a somewhat odd grocery store on 17th avenue but I can understand its necessity if you are too lazy to go to the Coop or Safeway that are within 10 blocks. Here you get all your staples; there is a bakery and a deli, a somewhat okay fruit section and about 10 rows of food. It is so old skool here which I like; reminiscent of a little grocery store we used to go to in Debden Saskatchewan in the 70s. In fact this place looks like it is still in the 70s. But if you need a lottery ticket, a newspaper, a carton of milk or some smokes and get staples to get you through the week, I guess this would be the neighbourhood’s number one option. The gals that work here are super friendly as well and there seems to be many sales on their produce.

LP Family Foods is a weird little convenience/grocery store in that it doesn’t seem to know what it wants to be. They have a lot of frozen stuff crammed into a small wall of freezers, baked pies and cookies bearing the Safeway name and even Jamaican beef and chicken patties. It’s like walking into a miniature grocery store… But with prices more like a convenience store. It’s like they went shopping at Safeway and decided to re-sell the stuff at a higher price to trapped urban dwellers on 17th Ave. It’s convenient, yes, but if you live in the area try to find a bus to a real supermarket. It will be cheaper and fresher… But these guys are good for smokes on 17th if you’re at one of the neighbouring bars.
