Dermatology Centre

Having had skin cancer on two occasions, I must have myself checked out every year. If Dr. Zip is my only defense against finding potential cancer cells, and she is, I’m as good as DEAD!!! My annual check-​ups with her are less than cursory and I walk out feeling like MY time was wasted, but certainly not hers. The last time I was there, she completely ignored my question about an issue I was having and was out the door in less than five minutes. She couldn’t have been more disinterested if she was trying!!!
I won’t even bother to warn you about the unfriendly and tactless receptionists who are a disgrace to their chosen «career».
I’m going to ask my GP for another referral!!!

If you got a referral to Dr. Zip, just tell your doctor you want a new one. The office is in a central location in the SW, and that’s all it has going for it. Upon check in you are not greeted. You wait in line for 2 receptionists to look up from what they are doing and put their hand out for your health care card. No «Hi» nothing. I also found it super professional of the one lady who wears sunglasses on the top of her head.
You wait and sit in these old wooden benches to be called into another super old exam room. Seriously, this place needs to be gutted.
Dr. Zip is nice enough but she doesn’t take her time. You get 5 minutes MAX of her time before she begins to talk to you from the door.
Save yourself some time and don’t take this referral. As for a different doctor.

My dermatologist moved here from a clinic in the NW so it was simply a matter of following her not conscious choice. I called twice to confirm the location and date/​time of my appointment and they just didn’t answer the phone. I ultimately receive a reminder voicemail the week before the appointment which was pleasant enough and did provide the address so it was helpful. The day of my appointment my experience with the front desk staff was disappointing. There were two women working the front desk and third who was sitting back a bit and appeared to be in training. The waiting room was quite busy which did not bode well for the appointment being on time and there were four people lined up in front of me just waiting to check in. Neither of the women working at the reception desk even looked up to acknowledge that we were waiting. Finally the one working with the woman in training called over the first person in line and honestly just looked annoyed. This may be a misread but she certainly didn’t smile. When it was just me waiting to check in again no one looked up, no one called me over and then finally same thing I get called over by the annoyed looking woman. I apologized and said I wasn’t sure if she expected me to just walk up or to wait until she called me over. She was all business which is no problem but at least be friendly, you are the face of the clinic when you work at the reception and her demeanor was certainly less than receptive. I checked in 30 minutes before my appointment. I was finally called in to sit in an examining room 20 minutes after my appointment time. As I thought, behind schedule or perhaps they just overbook. I say this because none of the people ahead of me seemed to be in an exam room for very long so clearly the appointments themselves didn’t last long. In the end I didn’t wait long to see the Dr. once I got in the examination room. Overall a little disappointed with this clinic specifically the front desk/​reception. They don’t seem too excited to be working with the public and it shows. The appoinments are clearly not booked with the patients time taken in to consideration. I expect there to be a bit of a delay its just how it is at Dr’s offices but a bit of communication would be nice.

I scheduled an appt at the Dermatology Centre and expressed my concern about not having been to see the Dr. In quite a while. The receptionist said it wasn’t a problem and booked me in. I had to cancel some work to make the appt., but health is important. I waited for over an hour and was only then told that the Dr. couldn’t see me because it had been too long since my last appt. I was furious for having missed work to be there and then waiting so long, just to be told to go home and get a new referral from my GP.
I will get a new referral for a dermatologist, but it won’t be for the Dermatology Center, that’s for sure! What a waste of time and money

As a teenager, I had problem skin. Thanks to a unique combination of genes and diet, my face resembled a pie more than a person. Acne is a terrible, terrible thing for a pre-​teen and eventually my doctor took pity on me and referred me to Doctor Zip. Now, I’ve been going back to the dermatology centre for this and that for nearly ten years, and Dr Zip is always happy to help me out. My acne was reduced, and then nearly gone. I will never be blessed with 100% clear skin, but the odd pimple every now and again is a far cry from a face full of pustules.
The dermatology centre is a conglomerate of doctors who deal with skin-​related issues, which include a lot more than just acne. They deal with psoriasis and rosacea and they do some cosmetic procedures as well and even wart removal. I’ve always found myself in good hands when I’ve visited, so I can’t complain!
