Once upon a time, I used to live in the Pump Hill area so I visited this Safeway fairly frequently. Way back when, it was one of the first Safeways to receive a facelift. Now, it’s starting to look a little dated, the flow in the cashier area could use some help(Starbucks is in an awkward place) and it’s not that enjoyable to visit. However, it uses the space well and has pretty much everything you could want to purchase. Parking isn’t usually too much of a problem since it’s in a bigger strip mall. And the convenience(bakery, pub, gas station, etc.) is a plus for it as well.

First impressions in some situations are everything and my respect for this establishment on my first visit is down the toilet. I attempted to use the womens public restroom and a senior citizen walked out, distressed because there was no toilet paper, no hand towels and she couldn’t find soap. That’s brutal. When I walked in, there was toilet paper, but about 3 squares on the roll sitting on the back of the toilet. There was soap, but it was attached to the side of the restroom stall, away from the sink and at about waist height. There were no hand towels, but there was an air dryer. Regardless, a senior shouldn’t have to experience bathroom trauma like that and push her cart with wet hands. There are retirement condos in this area and you’d think the management would consider this. Anyway, I walked into the men’s washroom and grabbed my own supply of toilet paper and hand towels. I didn’t bother to test the air dryer. I didn’t have time to complain to someone in person, but they will be receiving an email. Common business sense is that if you offer a service, you should be attentive and take care of your clients. Come on, Safeway!
