Giving this place 4 stars = Yay I’m a fan. Really? I’m a fan of a lab? My life is very sad.
Anyways, I needed some blood tests done. I went online to book an appointment. It was pretty easy to do and I found a suitable time. It was only 2 days away. Looks like the Saturday appointments fill up quickly. I really like the online booking system instead of having to come in, take a number, then sit and wait forever. This was one of the smartest things Calgary Labs has ever done.
Parking at this location is the only downer. The parking lot that surrounds the building is paid parking. That sucks. There’s limited street parking and you have to drive around the outside perimeter to look for spots. Today I was lucky and found one. Yay! Be careful though, the parking authority are circling the place and will ticket you if you’ve parked in the wrong spot or for more than an hour. And don’t even think of parking in the apartment parking lot next door. They’ll nab you there for sure!
So today I showed up 5 minutes before my appointment (that’s what they recommend). In less than 5 minutes the tech called my name and I was sitting down to have the vampire suck my blood. (ok this is a little dramatic) The tech was a student and told me if I didn’t want him to draw my blood, he would find someone else to do that. I said it was ok. He did seem a little nervous and his hands shook a bit. He was really nice and polite. He found a vein and took my blood. It stung a bit more than usual when he took out the needle. Maybe it was because he’s still in training.
I really have no complaints about my experience today. Everything went tickety boo and I was out of there in less than half an hour.

I only come here for my annual blood test when my doctor tells me to. The techs are friendly, which helps because my veins are hard to get blood from! Does it have the «lab smell»? You bet! Book an appointment online, otherwise be prepared to take a number and wait (and the waiting area at this location is tiny).
