Every year we rent a canoe for a short time on the reservoir and every year it’s easy, fast, and affordable. They provide the equipment for you and you just get to go have fun. The staff are always happy and always helpful.

The Calgary Canoe Club is home to pretty much anyone and everyone who loves water sports. Based in North Glenmore Park just next to the Glenmore Reservoir, it’s the home for many of our Olympians in training, Calgary’s dragon boat and outrigger community and a great hub for locals to simply paddle in a tin canoe and explore the local waterways and parks. Needless to say, it’s a great center of activity in the Spring to Fall months. But that’s not all of it. On site, there’s a fair sized community hall that’s available for rental by community groups, social events such as weddings and the like, exercise classes(I believe there’s a few yoga groups) and the like. Rentals are reasonable, comes with access to ample chairs and tables, and is especially scenic when combined with the great view of the water, and an even nicer patio over looking it all. This is one of those silent unsung places, as it’s importance in the Calgary community is pretty understated. Admittedly not all that much to look at, it’s a hotbed of summer fun and serves a vital service to Calgarians as a while. When the sun comes out, rent out a canoe, bring a picnic basket, and just paddle your cares away into the waterway. Trust me, with the hectic pace of Calgary life, a place like this is a godsend.
