Excellent samosas, best I’ve ever had. The dipping sauces combined with the samosas are amazing. I personally find the price a bit high, perhaps that’s just me… after your first bite you’ll fall in love and price will no longer be an issue. Made to order fresh and hot. Will I go back… yes Delicious samosas with dipping sauce !!!

Decent prices at Safari Snack House and Grill. I wouldn’t say it’s the most amazing Samosa I’ve ever had, but for what you get and for the price, it’s good. I recommend the lunch special for $ 5.95 that’s only available from Monday-Friday 11AM-3PM. I ended up getting 2 Samosas with Ismalli Bhajia and they gave you this green sauce. The other reviews are correct in saying the green sauce is delicious. I’d give this place another try if I was in the area.

It was a really great experience. The food was incredibly delicious. I had combo platter which was scrumptious. With that a good nan and fried mogo. I also had Masala Chai which was so good. The owner was so friendly and warm to me. During my visit they had more than 5 really big Samosas order which made me thinking of going back and have some Samosas. I didn’t order any sweet or dessert but the lady brought 2 different pastry which was incredibly delicious oh I can’t stop thinking it. Just to replace the spicy taste in my mouth with sweet. It was really nice of her. I will definitely go back there I’m waiting for their second branch

I see why this place is so popular and has such great reviews. I was very impressed with how fresh and tasty the food is and how kind and polite all the staff are. They were so busy when I visited but still managed to provide exceptional service. Our server kept apologizing for taking so long to bring us what we requested but there was no need as it wasn’t very long at all. Safari Snack House has tasty food at amazing prices and the employees are honest hardworking people that provide exceptional service even when they are super busy.

One of the better African style Indian restaurants in town. Great Samosas, try a veggie for a unique taste. Deep fries Mogo and Kabob also wonderful and so are the Chana Bateta. Their daily lunch special best Value in the city for 5.00 The rotating Takeout/Eat in menu also wonderful and they make a great Masala Fish. Vegetarian curries are not too spicy but full of flavour. Awesome service.

Friendly service, food made to order and you can fill up without feeling it the wallet. I go here at least twice a week and try different things each time. Each time I am pleasantly surprised with the amount of care and flavour in each item /dish.

Their food is pretty good but if you are young they don’t really pay attention to you and you have to wait a while to get your order taken and you barely get asked if you need anything else. Often we get overlooked and are not asked if we want refills for our tea. Once we got so tired of waiting for them to pack up our food we took it to the counter ourselves. Good food, but very mediocre service

Far from my place where i live but due to a lot of review saying they got the best samoza in town… so i went… its good but its not the best… filipina server very friendly, another family owned business, small restaurant no hard copy of menu the lists are already in the table, they uses disposable plates and porks… the green sauce for samoza is so awesome… not cheap place for its kind… well if your craving for dishes like this try visiting the place…

Came here for the reviews but the samosas were bland and the chutney lacked salt. The food tasted fresh, which was good, but I didn’t enjoy the samosas very much. I’ve had better in Vancouver(like Falafel King( ))

I’ve driven by Safari almost everyday and I have been wanting to try their samosas that claim«the best in town». When I walked in super clean, about 7 tables, snack and sweets for sale behind a glass. I ordered 12 samosa because I’m hungry but also because one of the workers said it’s the cheaper option so why not, I ended up ordering 4 beef 4 chicken 4 vegetables cost just around $ 18 works out to be 1.5 a samosa not bad. Waited about 10 minute to be made, call ahead for pick up if you don’t want to wait. While I was waiting I realized the had great lunch specials. From chicken pasta, butter chicken and naan. Also a lot of different baked goods. You can tell this is a neighborhood establishment the server knew peoples names that walked in, or who called to place orders for pick up. I really liked that. So they claim to have the best samosas in town. I must agree they are pretty tasty. just the right about of spice and filling. I tried the chicken first, it was ok Im use to just veggie samosas so having meat always feels like a bonus. The beef I found better than the chicken, but my favorite was the vegetable, I was surprised it was it was my favorite very Yummy!!! it had just the right amount of stuffing of potato, chickpeas, edamame beans, other veggies and spice. What topped it of was the house made chutney they give you, so good! The pasty is where I think it could have been a little better and size could have been a little bigger. I’ve had some amazing samosas where the pasty was flakey and thicker. Their filling is defiantly good. One of my best friend is East Indian so Ive had my share of home made samosas, I always like to compare, but Safari’s were pretty good. I will come back to try other menu food items. Overall I really enjoyed the samosas especially the veggie!

Great prices and service. Always feel welcome when I come here. The Ribs are just the right amount of spice and more. Everyone should try this place.

I have been coming to Safari for over a year. A very casual location where the food is great, the staff is friendly, and it is very clean. Make sure you ask them what the specials of the day are. I have tasted unique spices and flavors here that I have not found any where else. The portions are large, I always have enough left over to take home for later.

[2015] Ownership changed. Have not tried Safari under new ownership. Safari’s original owner has now opened Kilimanjaro Snack & Catering on Kingsway in Vancouver. [2013] I wrote the original review in 2011. It is now 2013 and I have to say I am still always impressed with the quality of their food. Sure, the place looks more like a caterer’s side café than a nice sit-down restaurant, and they give you Styrofoam plates and plastic cutlery instead of nice silverware — but the food here beats a lot of the nice sit-down places in Greater Vancouver. Still 10⁄10; will always come back if I’m in the area. [2011 review] The sign in the front says«The Best Samosas in Town» — this is not a lie. Both my partner and I agree that the samosas here were the freshest, most tasty samosas we’ve had. The place is pretty small, but I really like the atmosphere. There are always people going in and out and there’s this warm feeling of community. Their main business is catering, but the fact that they opened up a restaurant area for the public is very cool. Their Daily Specials are basically whatever large catering order they prepare that day(they just make some extra). All their food is freshly made, so when they run out(which they do), they run out. My partner also commented on how remarkable it is that they are able to maintain consistency in the taste/quality/freshness in cooking for large groups, because it’s easy to mess up on any one of those qualities when cooking in loads. Service is always great. If you can overlook the plastic plates/cutlery, I feel like I get as much or more TLC than in other restaurants. All in all, a place to which I’d happily go back.

Less of a restaurant and more of a snack shop DELICIOUSFOOD! Great service! The samosas are amazing and the casaba is so yummy. Really have nothing bad to say about this place! Wish there was a little more parking but that will not stop us from visiting. Also, there’s no high chairs so bring ur own booster if you have littles.

I used to go here often but now that the owner has changed the service sucks and the new owner thinks too much of herself.

This review is written out of memory from my two visits here in 2011. I love discovering fantastic eats, and this one was pure accident. Was heading to Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s annual free concert at Deer Lake and wanted to grab a pizza from Viva Sue. Well, the stars aligned that evening and turns out Sue’s not open for business. Now kids, we didn’t have the luxury of the handy dandy Unilocal app at the time, so we did the next best thing — walk next door. There was a ghetto banner on a fence — «The Best Samosas in Town» — well, we just had to, right? Fortunately, this turned out to be a good decision. You could tell that this was a family-run business. I felt like I just walked into their house. Over there, you’ve got Grandma mixing a giant pot of fillings and making samosas by hand. Everyone was warm and friendly. Man, it feels good supporting a local small business! We got a take-out box full of all of their samosa varieties and some dipping sauces. They were freshly made(not sitting under a lamp of lame). I bet Grandma made them with love, cuz they were pretty awesome! Lots of herb flavour in the filling, lots of filling, delicious! Can’t comment on whether they’re the best in town, but certainly the best I’ve tried. Delicious samosas + free music = AWESOME

I, along with a group of Seattlites, went to Vancouver and had the Safari Snack House on our itenerary based on rave word-of-mouth reviews. Most of us were of East African origin or have roots there, so we have fond memories of mogo, kebab, samosa, bhajia, and other deep fried tasty treats. We came here and pigged out on all of these snacks for lunch. All of us who were on diets broke them horribly, but did not feel an ounce of guilt — you don’t find food like this too often! We’ll be back here on our next vancouver trip!
