Sushi places are a dime a dozen in this city, there are 10 different joints writhing a KM of hastings sushi. I find this joint fresh and affordable which is why I gave it 4 stars. The owner is actually Japanese which is nice to see and it’s a family run place. I go here when I want something affordable and reliable. I have been here numerous times and have not had anything less than an enjoyable experience. I like how the service is always quick and friendly, every time.

Looks like another sushi joint has popped up here. Parking is available along Hastings outside of rush hour. Otherwise there are always the side streets. The inside has a bit of a funky look(reminds me a bit of the Eatery, but without the random cartoon characters). There are some pretty cool looking murals on the wall. Place is nice and clean. Staff seem to be Chinese instead of Japanese(not 100% sure), but this is not surprising. Our waiter was friendly, but hung out at the back of the restaurant too often(2 tables were occupied at the time). We had trouble flagging down the guy several times. The food is noticeably pricier than the competition. Whether it’s worth it or not is up for debate. Nigiri — can be had in regular or seared form for 50c more. The seared form is something special. A bit of wakame and other deep fried bits were put on top. The seared nigiri was hands down my favourite item. Spicy rock and rocks roll — small diameter, but cut diagonally into longer pieces. Filled with cream cheese, and topped with spicy sauce. Hot and cold at the same time. Golden roll — chopped scallop is placed on top. Great taste. Chopped scallop with avocado and cucumber roll — tastes exactly as one would expect. The presentation of these special rolls is really cute, as they’re stacked in a cone shape. However, the pieces(8 per order) are mini-sized. This is the dealbreaker for me. We had to order extra rolls in order to not leave hungry. Alaska roll — tastes like every other place. Decent. Tama unagi roll — egg and eel. Covered with a bit of what looks like teriyaki sauce. While the quality is fairly decent, the cost shot up quickly because of the tiny roll size. The final bill was probably twice as large as I would’ve liked. I would come back for the seared nigiri, but have trouble recommending any of the other items in terms of value. With so many sushi restaurants(at least 5 other ones) in the area, this place is facing some stiff competition. This place has to up their game if they want to survive.

We came to check this place out on a Sunday night. This place is run by the Chinese and it has been opened for 4 months now. Decorations inside is nice-looking, dimly lit with murals-paintings on walls. Presentation of food looks quite pretty-sushi displayed in flower shapes etc. We ordered the salmon and tuna nigiri, half order seared and half order regular. I must say the seared ones tastes super good, it literally melts in your mouth. Their specialty sushi is not too bad, at least something new other than the Alaska roll or California roll. We tried the golden roll, rocks and chopped scallop with avocado and cucumber roll. Their portions ranges from 6 – 8 pcs but they are smaller pieces. One of the rolls was a bit too small for my liking. Their pricing for specialty rolls ranges from 6 – 9 $, 3 $ for cones, nigiri from 1 $ –to 1.6 $, seared nigiri were 50 cents extra(but worth it) and my bill was 46 $ for two people. Sometimes you have to flag the server down as they are hidden at the bar. Limited seating available, bigger parties probably not recommended. They have take out menus and coupons, 10% off 10 $ and up to 20 $. Street parking available.

I was pleasantly surprised to see this restaurant open in place of the sushi bar that was there before. I believe the owner is actually Japanese! I think his family works with him and they do a nice job. I have been on the search for my elusive deep fried prawn heads that almost no one does properly, upon asking of their availability they surprised me by offering in 5 or 10 portions! I will be returning to sample more of his menu in the future.

I was trying to make my way to Ting Sushi only to find out that the restaurant ownership has changed and there was a new restaurant name to go with it. It turns out this restaurant had been newly opened for a couple weeks. We ordered a bento box and some sushi. Food was fresh and arrived in a timely manner. Portions for the bento box is smaller than the previous Ting Sushi. I appreciate the effort placed on decorating the sushi rolls especially the extra avocado pieces I got to munch on! Service was good. No complaints there. Overall, the food was good and reasonably priced.

I’ve been here earlier in the year when I worked part time on a project in the area. Decent sushi place that is a hole in the wall, however, they serve cheap sushi in a timely manner. I had my basic avocado and cucumber roll. Service was polite and fast.
