Like all my adventures, I go at the end of the day and hope what I’m looking for is still available. A pretty decent sized fish shop. I came solely for their Uni(sea urchin). I must say it’s the best Uni I’ve had(apart from the fresh ones in Japan). Tasted so fresh and sweet. I can eat this all day, every day! You can get a tray of about 10 pieces per tray. Each tray costs $ 20. I’d say this a pretty decent price considering such good quality and this is what I always look for on the menu at the sushi restaurants. Plus it’s the season for Uni, so if you’re in the area, I’d totally recommend!

Excellent shop for seafood. Sustainable and locally sourced whenver possible. Friendly staff! Owner Janice is customer oriented and always there to help with questions. Sushi is always a big hit with shrimp and avocado rolls being my favorite. Hand peeled shrimps and creamy avocado! I go there for all my seafood needs. The salmon they use in their sushi is wild sockeye salmon! What’s better than getting fresh sushi from a seafood shop? Ikura, Crab cakes and crab dip are also excellent! Everything is great! They also supply seafood to West and Longtail.

I almost don’t want to write a review for this business because it is SOGOOD… but more people are finding out about it(when I go in sometimes there are lined ups) — so here goes. I love seafood. LOVEIT. Love it so much I l drive down to Stevenston and buy fresh of the boat. BUT, I don’t have the time to do that so often. However, I do go into«Fresh Ideas Start Here» at least once a week to pick up something fresh. Last week it was fresh, wild pink salmon and it was amazing. They were super busy for Valentine’s Day but very prepared. I could not believe the amount of people coming in to pick up live lobsters and crabs. And the prices were WAYBETTER than what you would find going into a box box store — don’t even want to imagine the quality of those! The sushi is good, anything salmon is top of the line.

Love this place. They have sustainable seafood YAY! They also have sushi. It’s good. What I like most is that they mark on the menu board where the fish come from. What a great concept imo. The staff are friendly(they always say hello when I walk in). They also have frozen seafood(not crap like capt highliner… eh billy!). Look for specials and for what’s in season because sometimes, some items will not last very long(spotted praws is a great example). The fact that the store does not smell fishy tells me it’s clean. I’ll be back for sure !!

This is a decent fish market at Market Crossing. They’ve got a good selection of local and sustainable caught fish and shellflish. The staff are great at making recommendations on how much and of what you’ll need what whatever recipe you’ve got. They also sell all the fixins you’ll need for your fishy needs.

Great food and a great staff! I have been coming here for just over 3 years and have always been treated like a king. If can live with out the«Grandville island» hype and want great fish from a reputable store… this is the place.

Came here for a quick lunch a week or two ago. Great little place with freshly made sushi/sashimi, various other Japanese food items, and a good selection of fresh local seafood. Priced very reasonably, but then again you’re pretty far out in Burnaby. If I lived in the area, I’d be here at least a couple times a week — as it stands, I work in the area and will definitely be back to grab another quick lunch.

We had unexpected company coming and didn’t have time to make the trip down to Granville Island after having given up on the less than stellar service at F.I.S.H. Reluctantly, we returned to make a couple of purchases for our soon-to-arrive guests. I can’t really even put into words how horrible the customer service is. Right down to body language. Are we bothering you by coming in to patronize your establishment? That’s certainly the way it feels when we come in. Do you not have time to answer questions about the product you’re selling or do you simply not know anything about what you’re selling and from where it came? And just try putting your hands on their front door before the shop is open and you’ll be met with a thundering and angry«we’re not open yet!» We made this very mistake and perhaps it’s not clear to the staff that it was both an honest and innocent mistake. Most of the other stores in the shopping complex open much earlier so we assumed F.I.S.H. would be open too. While we waited for the store to open, we witnessed other patrons making the same assumption that if everyone else is open, F.I.S.H. surely is as well. After hearing the fourth complaint of «we’re not open yet» directed at other patrons in a rude manner, we finally went to PriceSmart and opted for meats and cheeses over seafood.

So thankful there is a fresh fish place in this area. They have wild & spring salmon, hablibut, sablefish(black cod), oysters, tiger prawns, etc. There’s a small section of sushi/sashimi, left side is all frozen fish, right side is all semi-frozen/fridge fresh fish. Quality is fresh, service is friendly, location is convenient for me, parking is abundant, and the place is clean. The only problem for losing a star is there isn’t enough variety. I loved the wild salmon and sablefish I purchased. I just wished they had other cheaper ones like tilapia, sole, bass…

Janice and her crew offer a great seasonal variety of very fresh seafood options here — including reasonably priced sushi made on premises for those looking for an excuse to check them out. Sablefish, Halibut, Spot Prawns, Crab, Oysters, Salmon, Prawns, Crab Cakes, … . Don’t take my word for it, try them yourself!
