One of the best pasta I had in Vancouver! Staffs were pretty good and hospitality was good.

Recently my husband and I had a hankering for pasta. We had seen the sign advertising Amorosa’s amazing«happy hour» deals and we live near by so we packed up our son and headed over. When we arrived I was nervous. Amorosa has a lovely, quiet atmosphere and were serving multiple large parties when we arrived. My young son can sometimes get rambunctious eating out so I expected a frosty welcome. I was so wrong! They seemed genuinely happy to have him and clearly tried to make us feel at home. I ordered the fettuccini Alfredo and my husband had another fettuccini dish. We both enjoyed our meals. My pasta was good although I didn’t find it super flavourful. Overall nothing to write home about. My husband was over the moon in love with his meal! I could tell because of the audible«mmmmmmmm“s coming from his side of the table. We had just missed the happy hour pricing but even still, found the prices reasonable especially given the generous portions. Overall, we had a great experience with good food and friendly staff. I would return and recommend!

We’ve been going to Amarosa since it was just a pasta house, a pasta plus Greek restaurant and now a past/Greek house. For the price, there’s no place better. The quantity is great, any of the dishes I’ve tried over these years have been delicious and I’m booking for New Year’s Eve dinner tomorrow as well. The service is always«spot on» Good prices, Great quantity, Good service and delicious!

I was so let down here! I use to come here once a month for years and it was the best fresh made pasta place around. The hidden gem to avoid the line ups at Antons(also in Bby) I hadn’t been here in a couple years and WOW was I disappointed !!! Not sure but it seems like it must be new owners or cooks or something. Everything was just bad! From the funky smelling tortellini to the soggy battered chicken Parmesan to the prosciutto ham that was uncooked and mostly fat on top. A few years ago I would have given this place 5 stars over and over again. I have tried twice recently to give it a fare chance and it was just not even edible.(Was forced to go to McDonald’s on way home to grab a hamburger I was so hungry still) I will be looking into it to see if it is new ownership or what is going on. I was shocked!

Came here for dinner a couple nights ago because I was in the area. It seems like a mom and pop place and is bigger and homier looking than the outside. I ordered the large«tetrazzine» on penne. It comes with garlic, chicken, onions, spinach and mushrooms in a light cream sauce. The dishes are typically $ 12.50 for a small and $ 17 for a large. The first thing I noticed when it came was the plate was VERY large. LOTS of penne. Definitely enough for a leftover meal. However, on the downside, if was mostly penne. There was definitely a greater ratio of penne to everything else. It needs more sauce too to cover all the penne. The penne was also a bit on the hard side. All in all, it’s a decent place if you’re in the area. But probably not somewhere I would come out of my way for.

I’ve been to this restaurant and this time I did takeout. Usually the food is quite tasty and this time was no exception. I ordered the large lasagna, pasta dish(forgot the name) and also the large calamari dinner. The lasagna was excellent, flavourful, delectable, and the portions were quite big. The pasta dish was good and from the picture it is large. The large calamari dinner was expensive but was very good. The calamari was fresh and the sides were also good. Overall this place is good and I would recommend to anyone looking for a good place for Italian and or Greek.

This. Was. Bizarre. My girlfriend was«allowed» to pick the restaurant on our last day in Vancouver and appropriately searched for the closest one to our hotel. She found two, but which cuisine, Italian or Greek. Which restaurant, Amorosa or Santali? Turns out, it didn’t matter – they’re the same restaurant. And I don’t mean they’re spiritually the same because of shared owners or have matching decors or similar menus. They are literally the same restaurant. Different signs, different entrances, hell even different addresses, all leading to the same building, like budget saving on a movie set. Zomato lists an Amorosa Santali house AND a Santali Souvlaki House. They combined the names on one entry but forgot to delete the other. I thought this was a joke, like if I pass through the Amorosa door, do they hand me the Italian menu, and the reverse if I enter through the Santali door. Do the accents of the server’s change? Nope, doesn’t matter; they plant you down anywhere and hand you both menus. Why don’t they go for broke, list six different restaurants outside, and turn it all into a food court? Alternatively, maybe just put up a curtain or something. I felt like this was a scene in a sitcom – Jerry Seinfeld must have gotten a few zingers out of this one. I would love it if someone got enraged at the service, stormed out of the restaurant, promising to seek competition, and then re-entered next door back into the same establishment. The idea is funny just thinking about it. So, after an unnecessary 260 words later, we’ve established Amorosa and Santali are one in the same, meaning the chefs on staff now must commit double duty preparing twice the variety of dishes(and you have to know there are fewer chefs on staff now than when the restaurants were separate). It would be expected that food quality would be compromised as result. And you’d be right. It was an afternoon when we arrived, the only patrons in both restaurants. Since we had previously decided on Italian(my girlfriend select Amorosa), we passed through the appropriate doors and asked for the corresponding menu. On it revealed the customary options seen in every clichéd(see boring) Italian restaurant… as well as every Boston Pizza. One page of the menu is reserved for appetizers, soups, and salads, and the second is all pasta – where you can either pick a premade plate or match a pasta with a sauce and topping. Given that, this one page boasted a lot of options. I had to throw the numbers to a math friend of mine. There are 10,296 basic options on this menu, 20,592 if you include pesto as a choice, and 41,184 if you include whole-wheat linguini as an option. That’s insane. We both ordered tomato with Italian sausage but with different pastas, her’s rotini while mine gnocchi. The plates arrived quickly, assuring that nothing was made to order. They were also enormous, carrying enough sustenance for that afternoon and for the next meal. Well, I say the next, but in truth, it kept so well in take-away, we were able to enjoy the leftovers a half-week later. I pride myself having a voracious appetite, it’s like a gastronomic bag of holding, and even I admit being unable to clean my plate. This was a full pound of starch, not including the fringed garlic bread the size of my forearm. It became clear early on they are supplanting quality with quantity, which, if you follow that formula must mean the food was substandard. I rated it on par if not maybe slightly below Boston Pizza, which I know sounds harsh. The gnocchi was clearly pulled from a factory-processed bag and the parmesan shakers were identical to those found at the aforementioned chain(and I do mean identical). It wasn’t bad, and a $ 13 price tag for a plate that immense was astounding. There were no Boston Pizzas nearby, so if stuck in the area, I imagine you could do a lot worse. It’s not an ugly restaurant either – at least it’s not covered floor to ceiling in shades of brown. Just… yellow. The Amoroso half looks better than the Santali half, bringing up the observation discovered later that we had been seated on the wrong half. Santali chairs had no cushions. In the end, all I can say is that Amorosa – er, Santali is suitable for people unwilling to drive five minutes further and find something better. Overall, I’d rather be in Boston Pizza. And I hate Boston Pizza. Food: 2.5÷5 Service: 3⁄5 Presentation: 3⁄5 Value: 4⁄5 Recommendation: 3⁄5

The food is good, the service is friendly but the place gets hot in the summer, there were some mistakes on the bill, and we had to wait a very long time to pay. They were good about refilling drinks. The garlic cheese bread is great but you only get 2 slices but that’s made clear on the menu. The greek food was great and only slightly more than you’d expect to pay. Overall I’d say this is a good place in the winter if you’re not in a rush. They manage reservations very well. No kids menu.

Terrible! We came on a Tuesday night and had to wait for over 20 minutes to get some service and another 30 minutes for the food to arrive. When my pasta came out it taste like slop, literally like something out of a Chef Boyardee can. They had the decency to give me 10% off as they claimed the head chef has an emergency to attend to. Thats the only reason I gave them an extra star.

Don’t be fooled by the split menu, they really do serve both Italian and Greek food.(It’s hard for me to love Greek food other than Stephos… I mean, $ 9 for a calamari dinner!!) Came here to celebrate a birthday and they were able to accommodate our reservation of 12 on a Friday night. The server was attentive and polite. But what caught my attention was that to add a skewer of chicken/beef/prawn it was $ 13.50. Nope, not a typo. $ 13.50!!! We asked the server why, but she couldn’t give us a straight answer and was kind of flustered. I mean, the skewer should be as big as my face, if that’s the case. Big serving sizes, decent price. Left full. No complaints.

So I came here yesterday evening and this restaurant had some memories with my boyfriend 11 years ago when he started working here as a teen. Might as well go in with him and try it out. The décor when you walk in is decently clean cut. Lots of mahogany. Tables are nice and the wine set up is good. Feels like a 4 star place. We ordered and menu was okay. Very vaguely described dishes so you are there jumbled thinking what would that Italian dish contain… but they all sound so good!!! We both ended up ordering the Caesar salad which we got told if we ordered a large it would be really big. So we got a small and it felt like a large! So true. Then we went ahead and got our main which was meat lasagne. Oh the lasagne. No words to describe but the disappointment. We got it on this real huge dish platter and literally looked like a pile of lasagne sheets with 7 cans of ‘chef boyardee’s tomato and meat sauce’ on top. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was because it tasted exactly like it. Wasn’t even that cheap so I had to suck it up. Kind of wanted to cry… No dessert. I’m done. Giving 3 because of FOH and how well they attended to us but strongly want(to the chef) to redo the lasagne. Like less sauce. Please don’t take offence but as constructive criticism. I ordered lasange… not chilli…

I’ve been coming here(or getting take out) for many years. The food quality has declined over the years though it is still good. The portions are large(though they’ve also been getting smaller over the years). Food quality seems to be a hit or miss. Sometimes it’s very good, sometimes it’s not. I used to love this place but the consistency of food quality has me coming less often than before.

This place is less than great! I went with a group last month and would never go again! The pasta, my friends said, was okay but not crazy good. I am gluten free and phoned in advance to find out if they have anything gluten free(most restaurants do). They told me to BRINGMYOWNPASTA and they would cook it and add their sauce!!! IMAGINETHAT! I can TAKEMYFOOD, and then PAYFULL price for them to cook something that may not be any better than I could do at home. Luckily the two restaurants have become one — so they serve Greek. So I ordered the Lamb Souvlaki. It was REALLY Tough— several of the pieces I wished I could take it back out of my mouth. Just couldn’t chew it — so full of Grissel. I would not go back here. Maybe I am a bit of a Foodie… but I can do just as good at home… in fact I don’t do tough lamb.

The guy I am dating and I came here for a nice dinner just the two of us. Sadly there was very little, almost nothing that I could eat that fit into my dietary restrictions(he accidentally forgot to inquire), however, did manage to get some soup and salad. It didn’t fill me up and I was left hungry but it was better than being sick. They took out the pasta out of the soup for me and ensured that the dessert, before I asked, was compatible with my dietary needs. The 5 stars isn’t for the food, although good, but rather the service. It’s hard to mess up soup and salad and I wish that I could’ve given a good review on their signature dishes but stuff happens. It’s rare to get this sort of customer service these days.

Used to come here all the time, no one should bother now. Portion sizes are down, service is worse then ever. Food is still good though, so if you want a snack, this might be the place for you. If you don’t like something, keep it to yourself, the staff will either not care or come out and lecture you. I’m done with Amorosa’s. More then ten years tradition down the drain.

Having dine here for over 10 years, I have to say its my favourite place to eat in burnaby. Delicious pasta and big portions(think Anton’s). You can ask them to pack the leftover home.

At first I thought the Italian pasta house meets Greek specials menu thing a little strange… but after a few visits it now makes perfect sense to me! Feel like souvlaki? Go to Amorosa’s! Feel like lasagna? Go to Amorosa’s! How about something lighter like steamed mussels? Amorosa’s has that too! It’s made choosing a place for dinner in the neighborhood all that much easier. Most items on the menu are tasty and consistently good, the service is always friendly and fast, and prices are very fair. Much rather come to this neighborhood gem than another Cactus Club!

This place is so good! Glen s. is right! It is Anton’s without the line and hype! The 28 sauce choice is great, so many to choose from I needs to go back and try the other ones! Choice of small or large, but small will comfortably feed 2! You can choose which ever pasta noodle you’d like… I didn’t try their Greek, but it looked pretty good. A lil pricey. But not bad. The service was really good, we had a relatively big group and she checked on us regularly and food came pretty quick! Definitely plan on going back, if you go on the day of your birthday with I. D you get $ 9 off any of those pasta dishes!
