Poor quality food, poor customer service and totally over priced! Not worth a 2nd visit. Would definitely not recommend.

It was only Ryan and I for lunch this week so we thought we would try out South St. Burger Co. This place had some good food but the speed of service and the price were a little off. To be honest I felt that South St. has a little bit of an identity crisis. It’s not sure if it should be fast food our not. Its set up much like a Harvey’s with ordering and then moving down the counter to where they build your burger. I like this style but it can back up easily as was the case during this visit. There were about 6 people already waiting when we ordered and by the time the crowd started clearing there were about 10 people waiting where they assemble the burgers as more people placed orders behind us. They also are over priced in my opinion. There menu and options(both price and selection) are more gourmet when what you actually get is fast food. I get what they are going for but I feel they need to either go all in gourmet burger or go strait fast food. This middle ground doesn’t work well. The food itself was good. I had a 6 ounce burger with swiss and some fries. It was cooked well but noting really special about it. They did have Cajun spice for the fries which was a plus. Until they decide on fast food or gourmet I’m not sure if I would try South St. again.

Burger’s.burger’s.burger’s…so many burgers places these days. Its a good thing that I can look at a burger now and justify the cost I would have to pay to eat it. So many factors come into play. burger size in oz, toppings, method of cooking, what type of bun, fresh or frozen… all of these give a justification to a price in my head. South St Burger Co… a little too much $$$ for what I got. Me and Justin(work mate) decided on a new place for lunch. I checked out South St Burger Co a while back and decided to give it a try. Owned by or at least in partnership with NY fries, the restaurant is clean and bright. Enough seating for most. The menu consists of varied burger combinations ranging from«The True North» bacon, maple onions, double cheese to the«The Nacho» .guacamole, salsa, sour cream, jalapenos. You can also get some other options like chicken or extra patties. When you order you can choose a 4oz or a 6oz burger… less or more expensive. I ordered the True North burger 6oz with fries and a fountain drink…$ 16.78. Wow… I was a little surprised at that… but hey. there are signs and slogans on the wall which re affirm your burger choice, because«the toppings are better». Our burgers came out pretty quickly… and the topping were pretty fresh… but here is the quick and dirty… The burger patty. pre-formed.but tasty. toppings…fresh and numerous ones to choose. the cost… way too much… I recently ate at another burger restaurant and the quality of the product was excellent plus you can make any burger a combo for 2.99 that includes fries or onion rings… plus your choice of bottled water, fountain pop or BEER! total… for the most expensive signature burger with fries and a domestic beer…$ 13.78. Like I said… I’ve eaten at enough burger places to know what is too much and what hits the sweet spot. Overall the quality was good the service was fast… but the cost was a little on the high side for my taste…3 stars

South Street Burger Co. has one of the BEST veggie burgers out there. I love the choice of toppings — mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, tomatoes and more, as well as a long list of sauces — and that the burger is cooked fresh while you wait. Wherever I go, South Street burgers are consistently good. There is one fault that prompts me to deduct stars from my rating: no onion rings. Note that the sign posted on the wall says that the onion rings are«hand made» from«fresh cut red onions». But if you ask, you’ll quickly learn that South Street does not offer onion rings. EDIT: I e-mailed the South Street Burger Co. about the onion rings and was told that *ALL* South Street locations have stopped offering onion rings with the exception of two Toronto locations. What a disappointment!

For a chain restaurant which I do normally try to avoid, this was a really good burger. I had the 6oz mushroom and Swiss which was cooked perfectly. The patty was juicy, toppings fresh and price on par with other«gourmet» burger joints. I have to say I was disappointed with the NY fries as I thought they could have used a better crisp with a longer fry. Overall a surprisingly good burger.

Love the burgers here. Have speciality toppings like avocado(no extra charge) and pineapple. New York fries are awesome. Expensive but a huge step up from a fast food burger joint

I had a burger and fries here the other day. Note that this location does not offer onion rings because they said the onion rings didn’t sell well enough. The burger was okay. A bit too cooked for my liking which is a shame since they usually seem to make an effort to cook it to a safe temp rather than simply cooking the heck out of it as most burger purveyors do. I was also pretty much the first customer at the restaurant so there was no reason to overcook the burger. The wait was quite long given that I was the only customer there, so if they had cooked the burger less that would have resulted in a shorter wait and a better burger. Here’s a tip: Order the whole wheat bun rather than the white bun. This is the only burger joint where I will recommend the whole wheat bun. The white bun is dry and floury. The whole wheat bun does not suffer from those texture issues. The fries were okay, but could have been crisped up a bit more. They were slightly on the limp side. They do offer Boylan’s(even black cherry!) which is a big positive.

Tried it for the first time. Mushroom Swiss burger was really good. Lots of toppings to choose from and the burgers are cooked fresh. Wait time is 5−10min for the patty to cook.

Sometimes you just want to pay $ 9 plus tax for a pre frozen, bland burger with no sides. Wait, did I say sometimes? I mean, «why on earth would…» Basically this is a fast food place, but way more expensive and way less tasty. So my advice, if you want fast food, get fast food, your belly and your wallet will thank you.

Just another fast food joint. Burger was horribly bland. Tasted like it was par-boiled prior to the kissing of the grill. Lots of toppings to choose from. Beware, the chipotle BBQ sauce tastes more of curry than smoked jalapeño. WTF Fries were not bad. Oil was either new, not hot enough, or both. No better than Hero Burger. Will not return.

Gave it another try tonight. Veggie burgers truly suck, it seems they’ve switched to packaged Cardinal burgers… totally unworthy of the 28 dollar price tag. Staff was very slow and completely overwhelmed with 5 people in line, 20 minutes is a ridiculous wait for a burger. So lets see, 2 frozen burgers, a small & large poutine, crappy service, and a $ 28.00 tab. Each time we’ve gone this place has gotten a little worse. Too bad, it was actually pretty good 3 years ago, now, not so much. Average burger joint with insulting veggie burgers for twice what you’d pay most other places :-(

We just picked up some burgers and fries to take home last night. As Matt said, the prices aren’t cheap, but the same items might cost you about the same at say a place like Lick’s. I had the standard burger, but my daughter had the veggie burger. She let me sample it, and I must say, it was just as tasty as the burger I had. I’ve had some veggie burgers in the past, and this South St. version of a veggie burger is the best so far. The cashier at the counter actually acknowledged that the veggie burger was one of the their most popular items. My burger was moist and full of flavour, and the fact South St. uses fresh meat really comes through in the taste. However, whether related to using fresh meat or not, I have found that the wait for the burgers to be cooked properly seems to take a bit longer each time we’ve been there — at least at his location. The person at the grill is constantly checking the temperature of the patties, so I guess they have to err on the side of getting the correct temperature vs ’ fast ’ service. And as far as the topping go — this is where South St. sets itself apart from the other burger spots. They have a ton of topping choices. Both standard and more exotic offerings of about 25 toppings. So, the burgers and fries are good. But, a bit on the pricey side. And when it’s busy, it can be a bit of wait for your food. The food is O.K., and I’d go there again(as we’ve been doing), but I certainly wouldn’t go out of my way to go there for burgers

My first time at a South St Burger Co, and I was really impressed with the food; somewhat less so with the prices. $ 25 bought 2 burgers with cheese and bacon, fries, and a soft drink. But this ain’t McDonald’s, and the quality of the burgers and New York Fries were top-notch. The burgers took at least 10 minutes, which is longer than I’m used to, but it was worth the wait. Pink in the middle and not overcooked; very juicy and substantial. Probably a bit too substantial; next time I’ll probably be fine with the small burger, and I’ll probably save myself $ 2 and eschew the cheese and bacon. The toppings were cool to see, but I didn’t really taste what was so gourmet about the relish, or the horseradish in the horseradish Dijon.
