My boyfriend and I went here for Thanksgiving dinner. The hostess and the waiters were very familiar with the American holiday and did everything they could to make our experience special. We selected to try the Amazon Tasting Menu and we’re so glad we did. This was a ten course meal utilizing some of the many unique flavors of the rainforest. I consider myself an amateur foodie and I thought I had tried or at least heard of most things. I was surprised to find many items on this menu that were entirely new to me. Jamba, for example, was wonderful! I had never heard of it before. Every item was perfect and the attention we received from the staff was a real highlight. The prices were more than fair. I have already recommend this place to a couple of friends and I will continue to recommend it to anyone who wishes to travel to Rio.

My husband and I had dinner with four other friends. The atmosphere is very nice and upscale. The staff is very attentive and the food was very good. We had two appetizers, one shrimp and one lobster. Both were very good. They walk around serving a variety of delicious bread with butter and olive oil. My husband and I shared the shrimp risotto dish and the lamb dish. Both meals were small but tasty. For dessert, our group shared 4 different desserts. None were exceptional. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely visit this restaurant again.

I came to this restaurant with very high expectations. Sadly, it fell short. I got the 5 course menu — took 2 hours to get through this experience. The food was a little above average. The foie gras was my favorite. The rest of it was really not that impressive/innovative. Also, I asked for a sommelier to do a wine pairing for this menu. His pairing was excellent and it could have been better if it was properly coordinated with the kitchen. My wine for my first course came in after I am done with it and for the second course, the wine was idly sitting for 10 mins before the food came in. Ambience and service were impeccable, as how it should be. I will only recommend this place if you have extra $$$$ in your wallet that you really do not mind spending.

First, let me say that the food was excellent. The chef definitely knows what he is doing. I think I read that this place was voted one of the top hotel restaurants in the world in 2005 or something like that. I can understand why in terms of the quality of the food. However, the length of the meal and time between dishes were almost unbearable. A meal that should’ve lasted around 2 hours at most was extended to 3+ hours. Not that a long 3 hour meal in itself is necessarily bad but the wait times between courses were extremely inconsistent to the detriment of the overall experience. We received excellent service at the beginning with courses being brought out in a timely manner but towards the back end of the evening we were waiting maybe 30 – 45 minutes between courses. Way too much time for a 4 – 6 course meal(I had the Amazon Menu and my wife had the Weekly Chef’s Menu). It provided my stomach with way too much time to communicate to my brain that I was already full after the 3rd plate which was sad because every course was excellent(and i mean excellent!). By the end of our final courses, I was begging for the check because 30 – 45 minutes between finishing a course and having the next one brought out is… just…too…much. Other complaint — the wine is waaaaaay overpriced. The bottle of wine we ordered paired nicely with the meal which is what ultimately counts… but i couldn’t help to be bothered by the markup. It was essentially a USD $ 20 bottle of wine(yes, I googled it during the meal) that was being priced at R$ 300(roughly USD $ 135). I mean I can bear with a markup but that was simply RIDICULOUS! Did I forget to mention that this place is expensive? Even with a strong dollar, it’s expensive… but for a special night, every once in a while, i feel that it is still worth it. I don’t want to knock the place too much though. The waitstaff was extremely friendly and professional. Our server was great and definitely made us feel comfortable. The food was sooo good. In fact my wife and I agreed that we enjoyed it more than Olympe… which is equally as expensive(if not more so) in case you were wondering.

Based on the magnificent Copacabana beach, t I recommend the restaurant Sofitel’ Le Pre catelan for dinner (Chef Paul Bocuse). Prices are high for Brazil but more affordable with strong euro. Servers in costume, a beautiful piano, a whole world after a muffled day at Rio in the crowd, noise and a state of alert without no danger. unfortunately.
