You can do a lot better than this place. We came during carnival and it was packed. We didn’t have to wait too long for a table though since there were only two of us. The roasted hen looked good but since neither of us were in the mood we ordered other things. Big mistake. The t bone was dry and tough. The shrimp empanadas were microwaved out of a box. Fries were dry and ketchup was super watery. The fettuccini with broccoli was in a rather bland broccoli sauce. Go somewhere else.

A very reasonably priced, delicious restaurant that in particular, serves chicken at prices that are basically absurd considering the solid quality. Keep in mind, this restaurant is surrounded by gay bars and clubs so, prepare to feel insecure by the many Brazilian dudes who are utterly shredded. It’s a strange feeling to be in the middle of a delicious chicken meal and suddenly feel as if you should be on a diet. Alas, that is the downside of being surrounded by men in speedos with 6 packs. Still, I say Galitos is worth it and if anything, my hats off to these Brazilian badasses. Aside from my own insecurities, Galitos was an enjoyable, price friendly meal.

I came here for lunch and for dinner and we loved every time! We ordered the galeto(mild), a side of the black beans and a side of rice. We ordered a salad that to my surprise was more expensive than the chicken. Chicken was around R$ 25, salad was R$ 33(lettuce, onions, shredded beets, 2 small pieces of hearts of palm and tomato). Too expensive. Everything was DELICIOUS! Portions are good, but if you’re hungry you won’t have leftovers. Down side: they don’t accept credit cards.

Very good and cheap food. The meal portions are good, we ordered a picanha a salad and some feiajo(black beans) for two and we ended up full. The only downside is that they do not accept credit cards, so bring your cash. We spent around R$ 90 and drank a beer and a pineapple juice. Totally recommendable. Order that picanha!

I’m sad to see that Galitos Grill has mixed reviews. We came here one night for dinner and we loved every bite! The cornish hens are perfectly grilled and seasoned. The meat is tender and moist throughout. We also ordered a side of the black beans and a side of rice with eggs and potato. To my delight, the rice was like fried rice with scrambled eggs and potato chips. It was DELICIOUS! The chicken, beans and rice were phenomenal. I would have been satisfied eating Galitos Grill once a day if I was a creature of habit while on vacation. Another bonus is that this place is fairly cheap for the quality of food and portion sizes. Give them a try! Locals love this place!

Came for lunch and thought I finally found a place with great food that didn’t cost a lot! For ~16−20 reals you can enjoy a full plate of Cornish hen or beef and several sides. I had the ½ Cornish hen, rice, fries and farofa while my husband had the filet with rice, fries, and farofa. The place was packed so our party of four ate at the bar. Be sure you ask for the lunch menu as they’ll default to giving gringos the full dinner menu which is almost 2x the price.

Came here for dinner after going to a brazillian serie b futbol match. Cornish game hen seasoned w kosher salt. Café Espresso, salad(which comes w no dressing only vinegar) and side order of white rice came fast and tasted good. Open air outside seating. Cant really go wrong w a chicken joint.

Used to go there all the time with my friends to order the little chickens! We called them baby chickens, because you get a whole cooked chicken that looks like a baby chicken. Very delicious.

If you’re in Ipanema, you might want to check out this little open air restaurant on the corner. We enjoyed it. Food– good! Our fave was the picanha(see the pic I posted). Great flavor, large portion. Doesn’t come with sides so order rice or fries with it. The fried fish was also good. Definitely big enough to share. Comes with their version of tartar sauce which is better than the traditional British/American version. Service — fantastic! Everyone was friendly and attentive and did their best to make sure we got we wanted despite our limited Portugese. This is fairly common though. Overall, the Brazilians are very warm and friendly people that understand good customer service and make foreigners feel welcome. Ambiance — very casual, open air with seating indoors and out.
