My good friend from High School and I stayed at the Raddison Aracaju after spending a few days in a small fishing village(Praia de Santo Antonio) in Bahia. For about four days we slept in the open and showered from a cold water pipe in the backyard, I don’t think the locals have hot water. Then, we drove up the coast because we are heading to Sertao to work on an art project( ) about the people in the Northeast Brazil, especially the ones in the dry areas inward. We decided to head up to Aracaju and then to Sertão. Upon arriving in Aracaju we decided that we would splurge for the night, although considering the dollar to real exchange we hardly spent US$ 100 for the room. We shopped around for a little while, the Mercure was full and the Hotel Costa didn’t seem right, we then headed to the Raddison and stayed the night. Our room was great, although we’d probably have been happy with anything that resembled a bed at that point. We had a double room(two full or queen size beds, not sure), with the usual amenities of a business hotel. The TV worked great, cable with a good amount of channels, the sheets were clean and soft, the AC worked well, although I am not sure it reaches the bathroom, which is fine since I am not planning on hanging out in there. We had a small table and two chairs, which was great since we were doing a great deal of footage and sound editing and photo sharing on social networks. We also had a balcony overlooking the Aracaju harbor, which is very nice. The staff was courteous and gracious and I’d specially like to thank Neimar, who helped us at the front desk during check in, and Caio, the acting manager — on a Sunday — who was incredibly nice and accommodating when we decided to stay an extra night. The breakfast is delicious, like most Brazilian hotel breakfasts, a great fruit selection along with some regional cuisine, couscous, tapioca and different meats. I stuck with a small omelette, some cheese puffs and a fruit plate which included papaya, watermelon and half a side of passion fruit. Overall this is a great place to stay, I tend to believe that in most larger cities this would be a great business hotel but judging by the size of Aracaju and the hotel industry in the city this is a luxury hotel!
