Pros: — Price. Cheap. — Location. — Friendly staff. — Clean, large rooms. — Nice view of the city. Cons: — Having to ask for toilet paper. :/ — Being placed on the very top floor up several flights of stairs(86 steps with a sprained ankle) when it seems like no one else was staying in the hotel. — See above. Elevator does not work and doesn’t appear to have worked in the recent past. It’s used as a closet.(Peek inside!) — No shampoo/conditioner. Overall, the pros outweighed the cons. I’d stay again if in Brussels. I’ll just ask to stay on a lower level. And don’t let anyone dissuade you with their talk of prostitutes on the street. Yes, they’re there. Yes, at all hours. I assure you, they won’t bother you. In fact, they may be helpful to you if you’re not sure where you’re going!

I am being more than kind with the two stars. Now I am not your budget minded traveler but a businessman with a very parsimonious Dutch partner. Now God love him he does watch the pennies… but this might be a bit too much. 1. If you read the first review she refers to ladies of the night working the street. Listen to the voices; some are women and some look like women(kind of). This is the street where the women are women and the men too. 2. The stairwell(this is walk up my friends) is painted black with black rugs. Try coming down at night when there are no stairwell lights that work. 3. There is no A/C. If it is warm you need to open the large windows that open to a fire escape. I am old, cranky, a light sleeper and no prize but if you are a woman you need to think twice if you need fresh air. 4. Breakfast is a good deal expect that they serve instant coffee. I had not seen that since the early 60’s. 5. The rooms are small and relatively clean. At the risk of writing politically incorrect comments; if you are a guy watch yourself; if you are a girl and have a father like me call home and have money wired if this is the alternative. The first review about budget minded travelers gives fathers like me nightmares.

This hotel is located within walking distance from the Brussels train station. When I was there, there was some construction going on very close by. I can hear the drilling from my room, but thankfully, that only occurs during the daytime hours, when I’m out and about. The hotel is centrally located within walking distance from restaurants, but it’s also located in the Red Light District, so expect to see prostitutes at the block at all hours. The lobby is small and cramped. Breakfast is served by the lobby, with a few tables. To get to our room, we can either take the stairs or the one lift they have. When we were there, the lights on the third flight were not working, so it was dark and unsafe to walk up at night. The lift was not very accommodating because there was a weight limit, which means that only one person and their luggage can fit at one time. The room itself was pretty decent. It was spacious and bright. Upon entering the room, the big closet is to the right of the hall. The bed is on the left along with the bathroom. Even with the full size bed, there is ample room to walk around. I recommend this hotel if you are on a budget and don’t mind the noise from the construction or the working women walking the streets. Hopefully, construction is done and they’ve fixed all the lights so it won’t be dark and scary.
