Really loved the starter salad and my husband’s baked potato ;). My food was great, but I always love a good baked potato!

Charming find down a narrow street off one of the main shopping strips. The service was superb. We were the first ones to dine at 5:30. It quickly filled up. We had the Flemish Stew, salad and cheeses. All were very well presented and the food exceeded our expectations. The waiter recommended a beer which was the best I have had since being in Belgium. However, I liked it too much and had four and I can’t remember the name of it now.

Absolutely. Loved. This. Place. A super enjoyable meal, in a very comfy, casual, but old school bar kind of elegant setting. Extremely DELISH moule frites. The pasta du maison(al la tonata in our case) was superb. Part of a hostel, but you’d never know it with the quality of food they served. Nice selection of wine as well.

This place was recommended by our hotel. It’s not in a busy area and didn’t feel like a tourist trap. The atmosphere was really nice, kind of dark and antique. We were treated well and the complimentary chips and humus were a nice treat. The only problem was it took so long to get our food. However, their prices and portions were reasonable. I had lamb chops — ok. My wife beef stew — great. Our daughter had chicken Waterzooi — very good(now her new favorite dish, worth ordering). Our son’s pasta was also good. We even thought of returning the next night — which we never consider so we would highly recommend this place. Most other restaurants in the area seem too expensive and made for tourists.

REVIEWFORTHESAMEPLACETHATIS A HOTEL/HOSTEL ASWELL: I travel the world and stay from hostels to 5 stars, my traveling average is 2x a month at least and this was by far my worst experience ever in a hotel. I decided to stay at this place as it seemed nice and it had ‘mostly’ good reviews(it also had some really bad reviews in between that I only saw after!). I put my arrival time at 11am when doing the reservation and due to many issues on the road my family and I could only arrive at 7pm. We met the owner at the reception, which is inside the restaurant and he immediately started shouting at us(YES, SHOUTING!), saying that we should never do this to a hotel(meaning, arriving later than the check in!) and they tried to call me 3x and he wouldn’t want to hear I had issues on the road and that my mobile clearly didn’t have signal because I didn’t receive any calls. He kept shouting and saying the same thing at least 10x times and I calmly answered that he was ruining my first day of the year(it was 1st January 2015) and we had issues enough on the road. I tried to tell him for the 10th time I had many issues on the road and for the 10th time he answered he didn’t care. He kept saying I was wrong and shouting at me and family, the whole restaurant was staring at us without understanding what was the issue. I mentioned I would leave him a bad review and his answer was«I don’t care!». I do wish I had recorded because it was surreal. I don’t recommend this place to anyone. Mainly if you come with a loved one, this is definitely not a romantic place and the owner doesn’t seem stable if he does this to guests without any tact or care. The hotel itself is OK, bedrooms are fine but we had a broken bed in our room, it wasn’t too broken but my brother couldn’t stretch his legs until the end of the bed, as we only stayed 1 night(thankfully) this wasn’t a huge deal. Toilets weren’t clean as it’s shared with the restaurant, so by the end of the evening, it was quite disgusting, wifi is really poor and doesn’t work after the first floor, again, as we only stayed for 1 night, this wasn’t as huge deal as the attitude of the owner.

Good food an not as pricy as all you can find in the touristic Brugge. Make sure to book a table, its often full on the week-ends.

We followed the suggestions from fellow Unilocalers and were not disappointed. I had the mussels with fries(€ 21) and they were delicious and fresh. They are presented in a cute(large) pot — when the server removed the lid, aroma of onions and clery smak you in the face — in a food way. I was pretty full after getting halfway into the pot of fresh seafood goodness. Luckily my dining partner helped me. He had the lamb chops(€ 18) — very delicious grilled cops served with a pat of herb butter on top — can’t go wrong with that! The servers were kind and spoke English well. Our first server recommended an excellent local beer after we told her what our preferences. Their beer list is displayed handwritten on a mirror — looked super cool in contrast to the décor of the rest of the place. I saw another person order a «red beer» and I asked for a glass too. It was SO good — the fruit beer on tap. It was like an alcoholic kool-aid — in a good way. The best part was dessert — waffle with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The waffle was crunchy and delicious and the ice cream was a perfect compliment. Highlighly recommended! In short, excellent prices, service, atmosphere, drinks, and food. A must try!

Moules et frites! After a day wandering Bruges, Gran Kaffee de Passage is a beautiful place to have dinner. It has high ceilings, dark wood and iron, and interesting artwork. I was here with a large group, and the staff were on top of things. We took up most of the front portion of the restaurant, and the place was filled with jovial noise. It seemed like a busy place regardless of our presence. I had mussels, perhaps not for the first time, that were lovely. This was the first time I had mussels served in a pot though, for sure, and the broth was seasoned nicely. I don’t recall the frites being extraordinary, but the wine, bread, and mussels were more than sufficient for me. Were I to return to Bruges in some unlikely event, I would probably return to Passage. (The website, other than showing gorgeous photos of the restaurant, is rather useless)

This place had some of the best lasagna I have ever had. It’s hard to find a good vegetarian meal in Europe and while the food selection is limited(usually a tough thing for vegetarians but good for everyone else) they had this vegetable lasagna covered in cheesy cream tomato sauce and broiled and it was just outstanding. My husband had the Flemish stew and loved it. There were huge portions and I wish I could have taken it home for tomorrow’s lunch, but alas we are on vacation. The atmosphere was great, there were clearly lots of tourists from the many languages I heard being spoken, but it was not«touristy». The menu is written beautifully in old looking books in calligraphy and it is written in 4 languages. They know how to please their American tourists because I asked for water and he said«from the tap?» With a nice smile on his face. THANKYOU! The ambiance was great, the drink menu was written on a huge mirror on the wall and the tables were all lit with candles. It was priced well($ 12 – 15 euro for our dishes) and very worth it. Lets get some more English Language reviews on here, you folks need to hear about and go to this place while in Bruges!

We came here on recommendation of our hotel. The owner/waiter(?) was funny in that he did not want to rush us but at the same time kept walking away. We had just arrived in Brugge after a long train ride from Amsterdam. It was a great place to unwind, enjoy excellent food and a drink.

El hotel es bastante antiguo, pero por el precio y la situación que tiene esta realmente bien. Volvería sin dudarlo. La pega es que el baño está en una planta y la ducha en otra…
