Santorini – Bar & Restaurant Griechisch / Greek

Went in looking to have a glass of wine and possibly a snack with my father, a wine salesman with great knowledge of wine. The waiter immediately pegged us for tourists (I live here, although originally from the U.S.) and when we asked for two glasses of Riesling, he tried to sell us a bottle for 28 euros… Pretty expensive for over here. We basically has to argue with him to just get the glasses, at 5 euros each. Still pretty steep for what we’ve been paying. The wine was shit. Really terrible. We told him we didn’t like it and he then tried to tell us that no one drinks Riesling in Austria. Excuse me? Wtf? We didn’t drink it but he still charged us 10 euros. We paid and walked out.
Go here only if you’re prepared to be treated poorly and possibly hustled by some huge jerks.

Verbrachten hier einen netten Abend: Gutes Essen & Getränke (Empfehlung: Hauswein). Die Preise sind ok für die gute Lage. Griechische Musik lässt Urlaubsstimmung aufkommen. Das Team ist freundlich. Witzig: Deix-​Fliesen am WC.

santorini is a greek bar and restaurant in salzburg’s old city center. it is a small place with some tables outdoors in summer. the owner and the staff are greek and they are very friendly though sometimes a bit slow due to big crowds in the small place. the food is typically greek, kinda heavy, but nice and always fresh. the prices are salzburg average and the greek beer mythos seems to be the best-​seller along with lots of ouzo. the later the evening, the louder the music, so i recommend going there earlier in the evening while you can still talk to each other. sometimes the place is very smokey — getting a table outdoors is usually the best thing to do. the crowd is very much dominated by lots of year-​long repeat guests which creates a kinda family-​like atmosphere — if you go there with someone who is part of it. santorini might not be the best address to go out in salzburg, but it is definitely worth paying a visit, especially if you like greek music :)
