It looks like a tiny shop from the front door but then opens up into a lovely bright space beyond the first doorway. My friend & I, with our 2 prams were welcomed with no fuss. We had lovely service, great food & great coffee. Couldn’t fault it, fantastic place! Maybe if you’re not a kid/baby-person try going here during the weekend rather than a weekday. Although in saying that, the space at the back is rather large with a little play area right up the back, away from the tables so it’s pretty well laid out.

This is a great little local place. We knew it was going to be good when we saw that it was very busy on a weekday morning. Hard to find if you don’t know where you’re going but well worth looking out for.

Awesome to have a place like this as the local! An ode to the old Butcher shop, from the front signage to the refrigerated cabinets. Plenty of seats out the back that is full of natural light, with a little sandpit play area for the kids. Coffee from Maling Room, with a fun rotation of beans. The filter coffee is pretty darned good also. Great selection of teas too if you’re needing a respite from caffeine(but, why would you?). The menu is succinct but solid. Choose from eggs done the way you like it with tasty sides, or from the selection of brekky dishes. The smashed avo is a favourite of mine, but of late the Chilli Eggs have been my go to brekky dish. The house made chili sauce is amazing — great with the fava beans and farro! The sandwiches are pretty tasty options too — the Rueben and the Saiguette are faves of mine. This place gets jam packed on the weekend, be prepared to wait a little in the peak period. Maybe a coffee and a Nutella cookie treat while you wait? :)

It’s crazy to think that I still remember stepping into this shop when I was a little girl back when it was an actual butcher! It’s comforting to know that they’ve still kept some of the original fit out of the store — namely the butchers cabinet which I also fondly remember jumping on and getting yelled at by my parents. I have been meaning to try Butcher 128 since it opened some time ago, and I finally got around to it on Sunday — I wasn’t disappointed. A group of 4 of us arrived around 11:30am and it was buzzing. We were told straight off the bat that food could take close to 40 minutes to come out(which we didn’t have a problem because we had some catching up to do) so we began the ordering process. I found this an easy task — smashed avo with scrambled eggs, and a side of bacon *boom* — however my vegetarian friend had a slightly more difficult time with her not being allowed to make changes to many of the menu options. The waiter certainly tried his best to accommodate however we understood that he was also restricted. Regardless, the food came out and it was fab! Clean cut, colourful and super fresh. The coffee was pretty good as well, and I even tried my first cold drip coffee which was not too bad. I’m looking forward to heading into Butcher again on a really sunny day to make full use of the great outdoor dining area that accommodates to all group sizes and even has a fun play area for kids. It’s great to see a good-quality café in the back of Yarraville that allows residents to walk around the corner and not have to deal with the craziness of Anderson St!

This place has become one of my very few regulars. Drove past this place and not really taking any notice as it’s hard to see that it is a café. However step inside and you are immediately blown away. The décor is beautifully arranged with the iconic butchers cabinet which houses drubs and ingredients. Another great thing is the amount of natural light that enters ths little gem is great and adds to the fantastic feel. Out the back is more seating which is a weird feeling as it is outside but not… They have done an amazing job with the rear part of the café. The coffee is amazing and if you are lucky enough to be seated or served by Paul he is sure to brighten your day and let you know what the single origin is. Very consistent and smooth taste on the house blend. Let’s get onto the heart stuff of the brekkie. One thing they must be known for is their eggs and their poached eggs are prob one of the best poached eggs you can get you little hands on. What is amazing about them is that they are consistently perfect, the have this beautiful glistening white cocoon housing the beautifully respected yolk that once it is broken the liquid gold oozes out. Poached eggs aside their scrambled eggs are amazingly fluffy and portion size is on the head. The butterut eggs are which come with a little beautiful parcel of fried feta which has blown my mind. Their is tea bacon is sooo tasty and only criticism on the bacon is that it could be a little more crispy(of course that is personal preference) I have also tried the baked beans which is omg out of this world bursting with flavour, the chorizo gives you that little bit of a fiery kick which never hurts and isn’t to much to put you off it. Comes with the beans covered by a baked egg accompanied by two slices of sourdough and avocado. If you are after a little bit of guilty pleasure after the brekkie if you still have room and your sweet tooth is hankering for that final touch the salted caramel cupcake is to die for. It is a great size and has this amazing caramel surprise in the centre which definitely hits the spot.

My new favie place for coffee in the west. Seriously smooth and silky, big smiles with the service, quiet little spot with great covered courtyard at the rear. Ordered myself a bacon & brie croissant and it was super fast, super yummy and just made my day. Also went home with a tasty loaf of olive bread and it was delicious too. Now on my list of happy places.
