For an Italian restaurant, I feel that the food presented did not have any flavour. First, the caprese salad did not contain fresh produce eg the tomatoes were a bit soft and lacked flavour. They did not put the dressing it needed but rather placed it around the side. Additionally the Daivola pizza is meant to have chilli pepperoni on it but it had no spice at all and lacked any flavour. Just felt like I was cheese and hard bread.

I had the lasagne which was perhaps a bad choice as it was decidedly mediocre. The service was a tad non-existent once the meal arrived. I wanted another drink but I couldn’t get anyone’s attention. Oh well, their loss really. If the prices were a little higher this would be a 2 star review, but I’m trying to be fair.

I can’t say enough about this place. I’ve watched it over the years and it is truly an oasis of Italian food and ambience unlike anything else in the inner East and, dare I say it, the rest of the city. Warm, welcoming, salads, pastas, pizzas and house specialties that are as mouth warming as the service is friendly and the space inviting and authentic. Something for everyone!

So bumbed I didn’t take a photo because this place is awesome! Great food, great ambiance, beautiful staff(and I mean that literally) great service and just an awesome awesome place. The pizza was delicious we had the ham and olive pizza and grabbed a cocktail after — taking the mamma there soon!

After a long flight from Auckland, this was a wonderful little restaurant. The pizza was excellent as well as the service. Great salad. Also the cost seems extremely reasonable.

Totally gonna 5 star this joint. AMO Puntino. Amo mal. Ojalá pudiera tenerlo a la vuelta siempre.

Ever wanted to be Italian? Now’s your chance! Puntino do delicious food, everyone knows that, but did you know you can book out the entire restaurant(by request) for a pizza and pasta making class? You can! And It. Is. Amazing. Came here for a 30th bday with, oh, maybe 35 people. The owner, Big Tony, brought his mother out — a genuine nonna! — to teach us how to make potato gnocchi, and then we made our own gnocchi(newfound respect to nonnas urrwhere, my gnocchi looked like weird little cheese curds, I don’t have a talent for dumplings) before the chefs cooked them up three ways and we doused them in chilli oil and parmesan and ate like kings. Italian kings. With many hand gestures and loud, exclamatory noises. You can bring your own booze, and we filled the entire fridge and drank our way into the afternoon, at which point we made out own pizza dough(did you know dough is sensitive to the temperature outside, and you need to prepare it accordingly?) and then picked our own toppings and fired those bad boys up in the wood pizza oven. I haven’t had so much fun since that time I was in an episode of ‘90s sitcom Saved By The Bell, you’re up to your elbows in flour and laughs and Big Tony and his team are absolute champions.

This is one of my favourite Italian restaurants in Sydney. Firstly, you must start with fresh buffalo mozzarella or burrata if they have it — it is so fresh and creamy you won’t believe it. I know the pizzas get a lot of hype here but I’ll be honest and say I think there’s better pizza out there. However! I think the pasta is amazing. The maccheroni(italian style fresh pasta, not elbow macaroni) is perfectly cooked retaining a chewiness and topped with garlic, chilli, oil and breadcrumbs it is heaven. The gnocchi is also very soft and fresh. Overall excellent food and good service!

I wanted to give a try to this Italian restaurant in Woolloomooloo, reading some positive feedback on the net. On the shop a sign was inviting my attention with«real woodfire pizza by a pizza maker from Naples». So I Said, why not? Nice and cosy atmosphere with Italian host and waiters. I had a couple of peroni, an amazing Buffalo mozzarella with Parma prosciutto and a Buffalo Bill pizza that was just a simple margherita with smoked buffalo mozzarella. I enjoyed the Australia made Buffalo mozzarella, full of taste, but I really don’t like the pizza dough that was cooked only underneath and on the border. Maybe the tomato was too runny as well as the mozzarella and didn’t permit the upper side to cook properly. I guess the tomato was too cool. Anyway, I will definitely try it again. The host was a little bit too insisting with desserts and extra, if I say no the first time I don’t like to be annoyed with further proposals.

Below average basic Italian fare. Rocket, bresaola buffalo mozzarella salad was fresh, crisp and generous. Apart from that, the gnocchi pesto & tomato pizza was watery and lacked flavour, F1 pizza crust was cooked well however the toppings weren’t proportional. Home made desserts(Tiramisu and gelato) were pretty good. However probably wouldn’t go back to this place as service was haphazard.

5 Stars all the way. This is a great place for italian food. Every time I am in Sydney I have to go to this place. They have the best pizza and pasta. The staff is also amazingly friendly and customer focused. The dining room is small and quaint and has a great atmosphere. You have to go to this place and try it out!!!

Oh man, I am so happy I found this place! Puntino just became my go to pizza place in Sydney. To be honest, when my margherita pizza(requested with fresh garlic) arrived, I thought it looked pretty plain. Though the crusted edges were thick and delicious looking, the dough under the pizza was a little wet from the sauce as it is pretty thin. But that first bite totally changed that first impression. I’m not sure I’ve ever tasted a pizza where the freshness of each ingredient was so evident in the flavors of the food. And then I tried their pumpkin goat cheese pizza — it is seriously amazing. Just the right combination of savory and sweet — and those doughy crust edges are baked to perfection. I only wish I had room to try their cheese cake!

The pizzas are really excellent. Amazing bases and the toppings are very well selected. It’s very conveniently located across the road from one of Sydney’s best pubs: The East Sydney Hotel. One of the best ways to enjoy this food is to get take out and eat it at the East Sydney. The pasta is not bad, but nothing to rave about. When we ate in tonight there were some very loud and drink diners there. That’s probably not surprising, given the location. But the waiters were lovely and offered to tell them to shut up. Really, the four stars are for the pizza and its proximity to the East Sydney Hotel. The nice waiters helped too.
