I feel like I’m about to let out a big secret with this review. This is not a seafood shop. Well there is seafood but there is soooo much more. It’s actually an Asian Grocer and a really good one at that. In the Chinese community it’s known as Chan Brothers. People come from several suburbs away to stock up especially if they aren’t keen on heading into one of the Chinese Grocers in the CBD. It has pretty much everything. Well, it has an excellent range of Singaporean, Malaysian, and Nyonya ingredients. There is also a fair amount of Mainland Chinese ingredients coming through now as well. You can also pick up a few Korean and Japanese ingredients but only the mainstays. Anything really specific, I find that a specialised Korean or Japanese grocer is a better place to find it. It’s also got a range of kuih for snacking purposes and the staff are always on hand to advise on which one to buy if you’re a little unsure about sweet or savoury rice or coconut based cakes.
