It has been our favourite Japanese restaurant for many years. Last month we went there for lunch on Monday and Thursday and disappointed by the quality of the salmon. It was not fresh. I’d like to let the owner know that the quality of sashimi at lunch time is getting worse. Please improve.

We decided to try tatsuya after all the great reviews we read. Well I have to say was quite a disappointment the smoked salmon roll was very good but all the other dishes, teriaky tuna, the beef and chicken were average with a smelly cabbage salad on the side. The restaurant looks nice from the inside but the waitresses are very cold and they made us feel like they didn t care we were actually dining there, also they are happy for you to eat in 30 minutes and leave. I wouldn’t reccomend this reastaurant.

large portions. extremely tasty food. keep coming back here again and again. definitely wise to book ahead. the best part is its kid friendly and the fact you get to watch them makeup your food means the kids stay engaged while waiting

Been here a few times. It’s a cozy restaurant with fast service. Price is reasonable and food is great. Most of the time we get there bout 6pm and didn’t book and get to sit at the bar stool section. Recommend booking if more than 2people.

Price is not cheap but they give you excellent quality. Also, Bigger serve than what you expect for the price you pay. Highly recommends !!

First off, I want to say do not confuse this with Tetsuya the fine dining Japanese restaurant in the city. Tatsuya is one those of hidden gems in West Ryde. It is in a small space and is always packed. If you don’t book a table beforehand during busy times, expect to eat at the sushi bar as that will be the only available space they have. The sushi is fresh and there are a lot of varieties in terms of their sushi rolls, which are humongous! They were happy to oblige our request to only have grilled salmon and grilled scallop when we ordered their grilled sushi set. The rice meals are delicious and good value for money, the servings are plentiful. My favourites are the chicken teriyaki, the chicken is swimming in their sweet teriyaki sauce and cooked tenderly, and the cheese katsu which is a delight for someone who loves cheese as much as I do. You can BYO but they will charge a corkage fee for each wine glass. They opened a second branch in Artarmon, which can only mean business is good. How can it not be if you serve consistently good food at decent prices?

Tatsuya is a lovely little Japanese sushi bar tucked away on the corner of Chatham Road and Dickson St West Ryde. I went there for lunch this week and I found it to be the most wonderful place. The staff are very friendly, especially the two girls serving the food. The owner was there and he actually makes the sushi — dressed in his business shirt and little hat he looked really cute. He also impressed us by clearing tables — not many owners would do that when they have staff to do it. The food is sublime: if you try nothing else, try the soft shelled crab roll(10 pieces). The way it is presented is an absolute work of art. They serve both hot and cold meals, udon soup, noodles as well as a lot of salads — great with the hot weather. West Ryde is not exactly a hot spot for restaurants but maybe Tatsuya will change that.
